We've recently acquired a big black giant schnauzer - the princess named him Twister, as he had survved a tornado touchdown on the property where he was born. He must be 70 or 80 lbs now, on his way to 100 or 110! My huskey's name is Tasha. She came to us named and also with a history of abuse. She is the sweetest dog I've known. The princess got a yorkie terrier last month - had planned on either naming him Thunder, Fido or one other name I've forgotten. After she held him awhile, I asked her if any of those names fit him and she said, "His name is Scamps!" That wasn't one of the three. He truly is a little Scamps, too! Enjoy! Post pics when you can, please!

I just noticed that it said Drawn by Goey and I can't seem to enlarge it to look closer. I'll try again later. That's outstanding! Yep, I heard a very similar rumor about Ron. I also agree that's one way to make sure a guy gets to the roast is have it at his house. Planning while he's gone cuts down on potential arguments, too - bonus! Any particular date in '07? Fall, you say? Labor Day weekend? LOL

Cool how this is working out to plan next year's before this year's is even done - works best when we plan it with the host out of town camping, safely tucked far away from any of those pesky puters! LOL Hey, there's nothing wrong with y'all Texan GreaseSpotters planning a roast - bet it'd be interesting to see who shows up there. Build it and they will come. I would consider hosting one some year here in northwestern MO if that worked best for the most... Whaddaya mean, drawn by Goey? That's very very cool!!!

Ah, thanks - what I was questioning was your kids being there then, I was thinking Sam and Kelly. Silly me. Arkansas sounds good to me!

Awwww, belle, I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to attend this year. But, all is not lost! I bet you could mail that handy dandy weenie roaster to Dr. and Mrs. Weeine, C/O the park, cabin #14, I believe it is. That or 30. LOL Seriously, we'll miss your wit and warmth, both this coming weekend in Kansas City and next month at the Roast. I'm still working on getting down to FL before fall - it may be Labor Day weekend before we can do it, but we can't let it go too much longer - that'd be a year since I've seen bow jr if we don't get there before Thanksgiving! That's unacceptable. I figure you're having a great time with the family reunion circuit you've got going there - that's very cool! If you can't be with us, I'm glad you're with them! xoxo

When I worked for the Medical Examiner, I learned that if you donate your body to science, your estate has to pay to transport your body to whereever they're going to do the research. That comes as quite a shock to most people. I'm not sure who I think should pay for it, but it seems to be a pretty unknown detail.

Good morning. QT - welcome to GreaseSpot! Your story sounds like what so many of us have lived. You're at the right website. There is much healing to be had here. I'm glad you found us!

I have a severe astigmatism. I used to wear contacts when all they had for eyes like mine were hard lenses and I wore them when they made soft lenses for astigmatisms. My advice is buy insurance. My prescriptions seemed to change less when I wore contacts. One eye doc said that contacts strain eyes less than glasses do. I was told a couple years ago that what makes me need glasses could be fixed with a $500 or so incision. I said no thanks, I don't mind glasses that much. The idea of an incision there creeps me out. I've been thinking about getting contacts for myself again. And, with disposable lenses, you don't buy a year's worth at a time. If the Rx changes, just order the new Rx when you get the next batch.

Bad hair day? LOL We had a great morning with Coolwaters!

What fabulous pictures! What a terrific vacation! I know growing up in Milwaukee I used to hear that from Yoopers too - they thought WE talked funny? Hell-OH! Those pictures are priceless! Great shots! No doubt they'll remember THIS vacation forever! I also remember Mackinaw Island being THE place to go.

Well, I wasn't aware just how big them Dominos delivery routes are these days! Wow, rascal! You must really go thru a lot of gas each weekend, and no wonder they quit that deal where if the pizza isn't delivered within 30 minutes it's free!

Oh hey now, you're not expecting me to use it on GreaseSpot Girls Go Wild Night?!?

Last night Coolwaters, The Princess and I went to The Savoy Grill in downtown Kansas City, MO. It is a wonderful restaurant, rich with history. President Truman ate there a lot. They even have on display a job application he filled out for a job he got at a bank. It's hysterical! They asked him if he had any habits that would cause him to live beyond his means and if it was his habit to live within his means! This was the turn of the century, around 1903. They have a great picture and story of Houdini too. And the food - oh man, it was probably the best filet mignon I've ever eaten and the chocolate mousse, well, as the princess answered Coolwaters when she asked if her description of it being "pudding made by angels" was accurate, she rolled her eyes to show how dreamy it really was, and said, "It's heavenlier!" She was right. These pictures are the princess and coolwaters as she told the story The House That Jack Built in a very animated manner and then the princess and me. (Edited to correct the who's who in which shot.) Maybe we'll just go there for lunch or for dessert and coffee, but we absolutely ought to go there for SOMETHING! The history in the building alone is worth it! They have this stained glass from 1900!!! It is so beautiful! My camera batteries died after 3 pics or I'd have a whole bunch of the building too.

Thanks, but I think we get along so well partly because we are pretty far apart geographically. Somehow now that we've been apart, it feels right to be apart. If he ever asked me to come help him, I would. When I was a wow, he fell and damaged his knee, requiring surgery. His mom and dad moved up north for six months to tend to him while he recovered. He said that's when he knew I was really gone, when I didn't come back to take care of him. I had gone wow the year our divorce was final.

The Way manipulated me into divorcing my husband. He was what they called an “unbelieving believer.” Nobody much bothered me about him the first 12 or 13 years of my involvement. He didn’t stop me from attending Way functions. Of course, I wasn’t able to go WOW or into the Corps as long as I was married to him. Eventually I took the Advanced Class, and I coordinated Children’s Fellowship for my state, so I was allowed to sit in on the leadership meetings and classes. I was thankful for that, considered it God’s grace. There were occasional “Joe Believer” types that would ask me why I stayed with my husband, since he didn’t attend any Way stuff and had no intention to Sometimes they would get rude, but I always had the backing of my twig leaders. Anytime anyone mentioned anything negative about my husband in front of the twig leaders, I didn’t have to say a word. The twig leaders made it clear that wasn’t anyone else’s business. When POP was read we lost our limb leader. Our twig leader ended up being the state contact for what seems like a couple years there, until they went into the Corps. We received new Corps grads as our limb leaders. The wife made it her business to “befriend” me. She worked hard at it. It took about 2 years, 3 tops to get me to the point where I trusted her opinions more than my own. She got me to believe that my husband was in the way of my growth with God. If not for him, I’d be a WOW vet, at least a couple times over. I could go in the Way Corps if I dumped him. She drove an hour and 10 minutes to come see me in my home. My mother-in-law, who was welcome in my home any time, any day, showed up unannounced during our “meeting.” The limb leader’s wife was rude to my mom and I allowed it. (I’ve since apologized, but it still bugs me that I was that manipulate-able.) I was torn. I felt I had made a commitment before God to this man for the rest of my life. I really trusted the limb leader and his wife. I trusted them more than I trusted myself. She set up a meeting with me and her husband to discuss my situation. I’ll never forget the strangeness. He told me that I had two choices. I could either stay with my husband, never attend another Way function and never bitch about it, or I could dump him and grow with God. Within 3 weeks I had moved out and the marriage was over. It took me years to see I had been manipulated into getting that divorce. It wasn’t for me. Today my ex-husband is one of my closest friends. He never held it against me. He never married again, either.

Yeah, everybody seems so young these days, I'm noticing it more and more. I bet we had similar conversations reserving cabins. She seemed surprised that I wanted to pay for both nights and not just a deposit. It works easier for me this way - less to think about later. So, for any who would like to reserve a cabin, but don't have it all to spare right now, they accept $50 deposits on cabins. I don't know how fast they fill up. It really looks like a beautiful place. Annie and I can't wait.

My ex recently sent me a few pics of unexpected visitors to his cabin in the great northwoods of Wisconsin. Here's one coming up the steps to his front door!

Yeah, Sudo - it's a done deal. The princess and I will be in cabin 30, which I'm told is right near you and Suda! They started to give me cabin 12-1/2, which sleeps 10, but I decided a 4-banger was more our style. I called, based on your advice. It went well. We'll also bring our tent, which sleeps 6 according to the manufacturer. The two of us slept real well in it last month. I figure maybe 2 others would have been comfortable in there - it's not my idea of room for 6! Oh yeah, we'll be there for some of that stew - we missed it a few years back...

A homo fantasizer! Oh my GOD, how funny that is to hear today! Reminds me of a lady I knew that was m & a'd over accusations of being a "homo sympathizer!" Lcm called her a "fag hag." Part of why she got kicked out was for supposedly missing that I was secretly a homo! Oh man, I just had a fresh glass of iced soda and sat down for a relaxing time at the Cafe - now I had to clean my monitor screen! But it was worth it!

I vote for Gwinn Island Park. Maybe even a floating cabin.
