We're looking at a high of 100 here in the Kansas City area with a heat index of 105-108. Our UV index is 10. My fair skin in staying inside as much as possible. It's supposed to let up tomorrow here too. We'll see. It was tolerable to sit out on the back porch with coffee this morning. I can't complain (but sometimes I still do).

This sounds insulting to me, whether it's addressed to me as it seemed the first time I read it or even if it's in reply to Ron, who said he was riding along with a bud to Clinton. It sounds like a very rude reference to Monica Lewinsky and former President Clinton's shenanigans.
-
To whom are you replying with that insulting remark?

I'm sorry to say, but the only way I know to get rid of them if they've infested your house is those bombs. I lived in FL and had 2 dogs as guests for a few months. We got fleas. Turns out I'm allergic to fleas. Yippee! I tried the borax powder and whatever that stuff is the DIY store sold me. The only thing that worked was to bomb the house. I put one of those suckers in each room which was double the recommendation, but I was mighty fed up. My ankles and upper feet were miserable. Now anytime I see a flea we bomb the house. I won't be human flea food ever again. I also use Frontline for my dogs. When I had cats I used it on them too. It's amazing stuff.

Ha! Ron! That's great! Too bad you didn't get that recorded! I had a similar, but nowhere near as funny incident at Petsmart. We had Annie's then 14-week-yorkie terrier and I had a big bag of big dog treats for my husky and the giant schnauzer that's temporarily living here. I also had a big bag of small dog treats for the yorkie. The lady behind me asked if those big dog treats were for the puppy and I said yes, I figured that was a lifetime supply and I didn't want to return to the store ever again. It took her a minute to figure out I was kidding. Vickles - Sounds logical - I bet that's one of your favorite stories to retell!

What a fun dream! Thanks for sharing it with us, Roy! Dmiller - I sure love that song! This thread is a treat for my soul.

I found this for free online: http://www.baycongroup.com/excel2003/#window I'm glad you brought this up. It's a subject I needed to look into, but hadn't until now. I think this is what I'm looking for. Hope it works for you too!

Never contact someone who's been M & A'd, no matter how much you loved them or how much you knew the accusations against them were bogus - you might get some of their devil spirits in you!

Rascal pretty well said it for me too. I really loved being a part of what I believed was a clean, well-intended bunch of God's people who basically just wanted to live lives that pleased God and in doing so lived very well. The community of people raising kids according to the Word was great support and wonderful company. The worst was that last couple hours of my association with the way - that really sucked bad. (Most of the first 15 years was great, tho.)

Happy birthday, Andrew! Seems like just last week you were 8! You sure are a handsome young man already!

Thanks for your story - what a journey you've been on, like us all, yet so different. I'm so very impressed!

Oh man! Absolutely! Do come next year!!!

And here we thought that was the crowd letting out from the Temptations show... so sorry we missed you - it would have been fun to have a meal with you - we ate at the Bistro at The Radisson Friday. Woo hoo! Lunch Saturday at the Quaff and the princess and I ate lunch at the airport at a place called "Just Off Vine," which we found totally appropriate for our dining pleasure this weekend. (Of course, we've already talked about the Savoy for dinner Saturday night.) and what a mental image you paint!!! LOL Oh, I forgot to tell about those last 2 pics - I don't know WHAT Cool was saying, but that waiter ran out a side door and up to the car to give her his phone # on a matchbook from the Savoy! LOL What a hoot the entire weekend!!!
-
Two more quick pics before I have to head out

I just hope the job application can be enlarged enough to read. It's hysterical! President Truman applied for a job at a bank and they framed the application at The Savoy. They even asked on there how do you spend your evenings and Sundays!!! Oh, this was so much fun!!! My eyes are burning, I'm so tired - GGW means SLEEP LATER - I think it's now later!
-
Hey, I can't take the credit - I drive a Taurus! LOL It's Westport, but hey, it's all the same to us. Outdoor cafe's and bars with lighted torches and music and LIFE!!! OMG the KC stomp on the water bugs - I was sleeping right above their trail and the front desk tried to feed me some makarkey about the supply closet being locked on 3rd shift and they have no keys - HA! I told them they could run to Walgreens and pick up some bug killer cause they really didn't want to keep me awake worrying that these winged bugs might land on my face! The guy was up in about 20 minutes with a can in hand! We also saw the Veteran's Memorial - I'll post a pic of it. Nancy is a lady that sits there and plays her sax and people come by and enjoy her music, then put money in a cup or something. Cool knew her from church, so that added another local treat.

I'm sorry - I thought the Q on the menu was self-explanatory. In this instance, the Q stands for Quaff, as in "to drink excessively." What that has to do with Gentle Greasespot Girls, well, I think I heard sudo say that what happens in KC stays in KC! suda - please send me your gmail addy - all I've sent you have come back to me undelivered. Glad to see you made it home.

Yes, dear Toppie - we've got more! I see you noticed the lighter. What you couldn't know is that I don't smoke! LOL Three GSers that really should've been there will be receiving gifts in the mail this week from the GGGW. We surely didn't mean to exclude anyone deserving, but we only had so many... Can you believe Suda found THAT restaurant for THIS bunch? Dmiller - Oh yeah, you got it. And hey, where were you and whitedove? We had a hunnert dollar bills waiting and ready to give you one at a time - LOL Oh yeah, Coolwaters' hubby called her yesterday on the phone and for some reason I thought it was whitedove she was speaking with. When she answered the hotel room phone, she said some very clever ditty that she just made up right that minute. She spoke a bit, handed me the phone and I said, "Hello Mellow Fellow, Would You Like Some Yellow Jello?" Ha ha, he must have thought I was nuts and there his wife was stuck with me for the weekend! Yes, we have more pics, but it'll be an hour or so before we get more posted after this next batch. I had trouble with my laptop or we'd have posted them sooner. The waitresses were as stoked about our weekend as we were and did all they could to make our stay more fun. The one at the Q even suggested she would like to take a pic of us behind the bar. Who were we to argue wtih a fun idea? Oh yeah, for those of you waiting to see how this came out, start saving your pennies for next year. It's definitely worth it! (For the awesome food, alone - LOL)

What can I say? GGGW was a great weekend! The Temptations were playing across the street from where we stayed and I'm sure we had a better time than if we had gone to their show! Coolwaters is a wonderful tour guide and showed us wonderful sights, sounds and smells all around Kansas City. What an awesome city and fantastic history! Like everywhere else in America this time of year, construction was almost epidemic! We had a full tank of gas, a pretty good selection of cd's and enough estrogen to power a steamboat! Oh, the fun we had! Kansas City is known as the city of fountains. Oh man, the beautiful fountains everywhere. I couldn't decide which was my favorite until we came to the one where there had to be 150 people in bathing suits or not, running through the fountain - that's what it's there for! The shops, coffee houses and bars were exceedingly abundant above all that I could ask or think, so help me God! If we had a month, we probably wouldn't have eaten the same place twice. Too many choices! We have proof that it was 100 degrees and proof of a few other things. I know, you'd rather see the pictures already, wish I would hush. OK

aww, suda! Did I forget to tell you it was top secret til after Saturday night? Rats, I sure am getting forgetful.

I have a 2004 brown Ford Taurus. We'll be waiting for you at the Northwest baggage claim. That'll be easier than driving around and around, I'm thinking. Unless you and Cool chat later and come up with something else... I always park my car and pick up folks at the baggage claim area. Then we just have to find our way to the car, which has been pretty easy each time I've done it here at MCI, It's a very simple airport to get around, in my experience. Ha ha, I had figured on dinner out two nights, and just read you said you'd like to eat out one night, for steak - would you prefer we bring dinner tomorrow or are you game for the buffet at the casino right after we pick you up? I'm flexible. I'm left-handed and I'm flexible. Can't wait to get GGGW with you ladies! Turns out my daughter has a birthday party to attend Saturday and has been invited to stay the weekend! Praise God!

I just firmed up Plan B for babysitter for the weekend. Whew, that got close to scary. I almost had to bring the princess along. But all is well, thank God! See ya tomorrow!!!
