  1. I got 9 out of 10 - missed the second one. That was fun for a word nerd like me. Thanks, Dave!
  2. I'd love to help you ladies, but I'm a bit jealous, myself. Whenever I find time to read or watch a movie, I usually end up falling asleep - then an hour or more passes, I wake up and haven't read, nor have I done whatever other things I might've had I not snuck off to read a while. I really miss reading. I used to read a LOT. One of these days I hope to become organized enough to get all my stuff done during the week and then take an entire Saturday for reading or movies or napping... It could happen! Belle - love your response - not only do you offer great help, but now Bliss (and the rest of us) has even more titles to read! You're a true buddy and I'm proud to call you mine!
  3. Rhino - that's funny stuff! My son gave me a stuffed little doll of a man, called "The Perfect Man", that said all those things that I used to keep on my desk.
  4. Ha! I just now noticed that these pics show in the reverse order of what they're uploaded - lol! Cowboy and Diane are married to each other. I think I neglected to add that part.
  5. From the album: The Princess Turns 11!

This wasn't part of the celebration, but here she is on her birthday (Wednesday) with lime green bands on her braces!
  6. From the album: The Princess Turns 11!

It was a strawberry marguerita night for the ladies (Cowboy drank Coronas) - a great time was had by all. We had fun finding the picture of the princess on the restaurant wall of fame from her 9th birthday - this has become a tradition for us that still brings us such joy - we go there for all our birthdays.
  7. From the album: The Princess Turns 11!

This guy's a real cowboy and any day now, will be taking the princess with him to work with a particular horse - a dream of hers come true! He fixes my lawnmower, has replaced her bike's inner tubes, keeps up on the air in them, generally plays Uncle Cowboy to her. He was a Sgt. in the Army for 8 of his 12 years and it's a real hoot to hear him bellow out, "Private Annie!" and she come front and center pronto, salutes him a wimpy little girl salute, and responds, "Sir, yes SIR!"
  8. From the album: The Princess Turns 11!

My friend, Diane got in on the schtick with the girls for my photo taking pleasure...
  9. From the album: The Princess Turns 11!

Just a couple of normal small town girls...
  10. From the album: The Princess Turns 11!

I just really like this picture (if I do say so myself)! Annie and her best friend.

The birthday girl being sung Happy Birthday by the waitstaff from our favorite restaurant.
  12. Yes. She was part of an incident a couple years ago where one of my brothers tried to force her to eat something she dislikes very much. (I don't make her eat what she doesn't want to eat as long as she doesn't complain.) She was present during his and my heated discussion and his subsequent apology to me. From there, over the phone there were some very intense discussions (unrelated to the incident with my daughter) that led to my disassociating with them and my daughter doesn't know about those details, but will if and when she needs to. She had no desire to go back and see them after the food issue, so it's really not come up for her.) The rest of the family issues are all adult issues, so at 11, she's not aware of them. My son (now 27) never knew any of the really bad past stuff until just 5 years ago when I reunited with the other brother after 25 years estranged. It only took about 3 years to return to separation from him, which took place shortly after stopping contact with the older brother. I had to explain the past to my son at that point, as he was about to meet up with his cousins, who all knew the history from their parents' points of view.
  13. You must have some way to make sure they can't hurt you again as they had - care to share it? I have ridiculous problems with my family. I continue to love them, but they've done such unbelievable and hurtful things to me and others in our family that I can't be around them or expose my daughter to them. One nephew stays in occasional e-mail contact with me and each time I hear from him I respond that same day and love him up via e-mail. The rest seriously suck the life out of me and take anything I have that's not nailed down. I was reminded in the prayer room to pray for my family, which I hadn't done for some time now - beyond that I have no idea what I could or maybe even should do. I feel that I've done more than I could or should and the only thing to do now is to avoid them to prevent further pain and damage to myself and my daughter. Generally speaking, I think it's good to keep the air clear and let those we love know we love them, but I think it's past possible in my family, as my "sin" is that when they see me it reminds them of their guilt and then they behave unbelievably badly.
  14. Apparently, I am IN FELLOWSHIP today. Lucky ducky that I am! Woo hoo!!! Guess I'd better buy a lotto ticket! <_<
  15. Ha ha ha!!! Now there's one I haven't seen! Obviously, sudo musta taught Steve Martin to dance like that! That's really funny!!!
  16. Oh, you guys are so good!!! You too, Queen Dooj! LOL Thankyou thankyou thankyou very much!!! I've taught both my kids the value of properly browned, not burned grilled cheese to go with Campbell's cream of tomato soup and that's one of the highlights of the fall and winter, for sure! I'll try both those ideas and soon, no doubt! Truly comfort food!!! Mm mmm good!!!
  17. Oh, what a great song! My bow jr. just got married last week and I heard that line more like My son has taken a bride. Oh what an exciting time!!! I'll have to send that song to them. Cindy! You're wise to start working on things what may seem early, but the time will most definitely FLY by! What a lovely song - I can't wait to hear what you choose, as if you don't select that one, it'll have to be an awesome song you find!!!
  18. What a great story!!! I'm thrilled for you getting one of your family back and after so long! I would think it'd take at least a few days, maybe a couple weeks for her to adjust to being home. Sounds like you're doing fine, really. And wearing you out? That sounds par for the course, too. You're a wonderful momma!
  19. Hey bulwinkl - pssssttttt! How about just hangin' out on the music lovers thread - that's a happy place. I stick to that and the prayer thread, maybe the kitchen thread when it gets so deep in others. And it's not like that all the time around here. Anyone with your taste in music - would be a loss to the music lovers thread.

    WIPE OUT!

Wow, socks - you just sorta reminded me of a joke - let's see if I can tell it: The man was explaining to his co-worker where he got that black eye from. That morning at breakfast, what he meant to say was, "Good morning Dear, I hope you slept well. Please pass the Wheaties," when out of his mouth came, "You nasty so-and-so! You've ruined my life!"
  21. Home made tomato soup? Anyone have a recipe for that? Your grilled patty melt sounds divine, by the way!
  22. No, I hadn't, but I did now! Great way to start my day! You know one Hartford tune leads to several more! Mmm, mmm - Hartford - he isn't just for breakfast anymore! Thanks, Dave!!!
  23. Very nice, Eagle! Love your signature line, Dave!
  24. The 10-year-old princess prepared today's supper - oh man, those were awesome Reuben sandwiches!!! I even sprung for the Gulden's brown mustard - decided I'd better not use the storebrand stuff that I don't know HOW old it is... Delightful recipe - thanks, Sushi!!!
  25. This will be supper at our house today! I've been looking for a good Reuben sandwich recipe! Thanks! Those other sandwich recipes sound good too. I've got a renewed interest in sandwiches now. Hmmm, I wonder if a soup recipe section is in our future...
