I was told my family would die now that we were outside the household of Zion, the whole shebang about being a greasespot by midnight. Pretty funny, they said we walked away, but they threw us out, really. They also told me not to come on their headquarters cause they had armed guards with our pictures on them and would shoot us. Someone I knew was told the adversary would get them before they got back home to family when they were marked and avoided and sent halfway across the country all alone after being threatened with devil possession and death.

Is it Laughter in the Rain?

I'm pretty sure I know the title, just not the band. Do we need to say who did it as well as the title?

Dot - This is fascinating! This explains so much! I've often wondered how parents could visually see evidence of abuse to their children, yet remain with the abuser and not take their child and run far and fast. As a christian believer, I read what you wrote and find comfort in the explanation. It gives me somewhere to store these horrific stories we hear about so often. I'll no longer wonder how in the hell a seemingly loving parent would keep their beloved child in an abusive situation. I was floored to hear that someone would think that a picture showing a car speeding toward someone could look like a couple old friends about to hook up - and that the momma wouldn't "get" the imminent danger. I don't see anything wrong with learning all we can, especially concerning how people think. For me, as a strong individual who, once upon a time found myself up to my neck in a mind-controlling cult, I'm glad to be able to consider ideas and studies people present, then decide for myself if it's useful information for me or not. Thanks for posting this, Dot. I'm real interested in where this discussion goes... Oh, and Dot - I don't know if this is a bible verse or not, but I'm reminded that there are none so blind as those who will not see. I, for one, hope you continue to present these treasures you find for our consideration.

Our wow pins are in my jewelry box too. I come across them once in awhile and consider dumping them, but I enjoy seeing it and remembering how I felt that year. Despite many things, it was a great year for me personally. I burned the t-shirts about 10 years after being marked and avoided. I left all the books and tapes/cd's in the basement and before I got to sorting through to sell on ebay, we had a great sewage backup - goodbye all things Way... I never got the jacket - I probably would've, since I bought everything that bookstore sold over the years. I'm glad I never got to get that. Nor did I get the Corps sweats, which was something I really wanted - I thought those were the coolest. LOL

I think you're the young man with the dark hair second from the left in the back row. I was at the 2nd Weenie Roast, but you wore a hat almost all the time I saw you... I think I may recognize the gentleman with the vest all the way to the right in the back row too... What a fun picture!

What's Mich%e1 Fort up to? Isn't he still "in"?

I can't believe the audacity of these people to even consider giving out or accepting bonuses out of stinkin' bailout money from the government! This is so outrageous to my way of thinking. Don't most companies skip bonuses as a first means of cutting costs? Doesn't the word bonus mean something extra, above and beyond the regular compensation for the job? If I were president I would demand that AIG return all the money and let them sink. It's bizarre that rather than pinch every penny tightly, they think we should not only get bailed out from their mess, but actually be rewarded with bonuses. They ought to have been happy to have had their lousy jobs saved.

Ahhh, one of my favorite memories was standing there at that pilot wheel with Captain John, looking at the Illinois River through his binoculars - that was 1983. That's one of my favorite youtubes - thanks for posting it here, Waysider!

Happy Birthday, Willie! I'm glad you're six - I think you'll have fun being six. Do you have your front teeth?

I've been there several times when he'd lead festival crowds weaving and winding through the audience like the pied piper with everybody singing "Boogie" - his boy's an awesome musician too, real good blues and he covers his dad's stuff real well.

This is the funniest thing I've heard all week, maybe longer. I shall look for opportunities to repeat this line and I bet it won't take long, the way things have been going lately. Thanks for the giggle - this entire thread hit me right in the funny bone :)
