The answer is obvious. They need to purchase additional missles for the auditorium. And an aircraft carrier. I think the Pope has one for sale right now.

Last time I knew (but this was a few years back) they had her manning the mail room... She always seemed like she was sorta off. Damaged in some way (and this is before I had even heard of any of the scandals!)

Just thinking about possible motivation for not allowing obese people in the WC... Let's boil it down to money: liability for injuries sustained during ridiculous WC training... Stress on the heart, increased risk of stroke... Possible healthcare costs... Which makes me think - does twi take care of inresidence wc health insurance? Do they maintain some sort of accidental injury policy for training the wc? Might be why they are doing LEAD duo behind Founders Hall nowadays.

A wise man once said, "there are legitimate reasons to kick an old lady down the stairs... But you still shouldn't do it." Rosie gives reason...

It all boils down to "Ask not what twi can do for you (or anyone else) but what you (or the person you are witnessing to) can do for twi"... They didn't want to actually help anybody, and this basically proves it. They wanted people who were working decent jobs so the ABS would be big... People they could browbeat about being in debt... Not people they would have to invest any real time or effort in to actually help.

last time I went it was the same way... Would have been five years ago. -
Hiya, Hairgirl!!! We need to have coffee sometime soon! So, did anyone else get the teaching that any time you had sex both parties had to have an orgasm? My therapist thought that was extremely amusing... In fact, I believe she laughed out loud. I think the whole thing was just another way to make wives feel even less... I mean, you have to constantly submit to your husband, have perfect kids, a clean house, be ready at the drop of a hat to have sex no matter what the circumstances, AND you have to enjoy it enough to be wildly orgasmic, every single time!! And if you can't do that, well, you must be a failure. Oh, you also have to make sure you get in your hour in the wurd evry day... Attend meetings... And the list goes on.

One of the big "benefits" of taking "the class" that was cited on the sign up card was "promotes harmony on the home" (or maybe it was unity? Thank God I am starting to forget some of the jargon!!) I can't say that it ever did... unless you define harmony as "Man gets what he wants and everyone else needs to sit down and shut up." I guess that could be considered harmonious for one person in the home. I still have to work hard to not just "eat it" and be the submissive woman I was taught to be from childhood til 30 something. It's hard for me to argue with my husband, even if he is doing something assinine. I am getting better at it (a lot better) but sometimes I still feel like I am a bad wife for not just obeying him. (He doesn't encourage the submissiveness - he actually likes to fight! Weirdo.) I always thought if you had a good marriage, you never fought. You were so "like minded" and "one flesh" that there would never be any disagreements... and if there were, it would obviously be my fault, because God made the man the head... right? And (our marriage counsellor found this hysterical) the Way's ideas about how the sexual relationship should work in a marriage is NUTS, and not practical at all. Due benevolence? Right... even when you are sick, even when you are sleep deprived, even if the baby is crying in the next room... due benevolence. I think "due benevolence" could actually be better translated (according to Way usage) as "wife = sex slave." Harmony in the home? right.

In-residence Way Corpse "training" (next best thing to incarceration)
JavaJane replied to OldSkool's topic in About The Way
The flossing, the working out, the mandatory journal writing, all of it are just symptoms of the greater illness in twi's programs, be it Fellow Laborers, WC, Way Disciple, WOW, or what have you... They made living for God a burden. They took the joy out of it. We come in, excited, wanting to give our all for something better, to help others... And what do we get? Chores and minute detailed hygeine instruction, humiliation, sleep deprivation, and commands to conform. This is not the "more than abundant life" we signed up for. It's micromanagement. It's degrading. It "teaches" any spark of God working in your life right out of you by enforcing ultimate control. God is love. God loves us. Doing the works of God should be joyful. There is no joy in any of twi's training programs. Only bondage to a corrupt system. -

Yes, but not so easy to get over TIT... I know. I'm weaning a kid right now. That's right, folks, I'm here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitresses. -

what if we replaced all the old SIT stopsign stickers with TIT stickers? You know, "Typing In Tongues"?? I'm sure it would get some attention... At least from the guys... Sorry... Off topic. Carry on. -

I plan to never ever find myself in New Knoxville or Ohio ever ever again. Amen and amen. (Positive confession of belief yields positive receipt of confession positively, or some BS like that....) -

This explains why so many of the more recent WC grads that I met seemed, well, like their spirit had been broken. They go in a spunky, happy, loving God kinda person, and they come out looking like a cookie cutter bland boring shadow of their former selves. So glad you got out, OldSkool! -

And the sad, sad illusion that they HAVE all these things, when indeed they have the opposite. Deceived and being decieved. -

Yes. That is the same one. My husband has a cousin involved. -

I ran into some kids at a local Subway a couple months back who were involved with IHOP (we have a big group here) and they seemed just like I was when I was a WOW and a Way Disciple. It was so strange, and I knew they were involved in some kind of weird religious group as soon as they walked in the door. I guess it takes one to know one!! I can't even put my finger on WHAT it was exactly about them that led me to believe they were in a cult, but it just was SO APPARENT. Their demeanor, something... I guess I have radar for this kind of thing... Let's call it "WAY-DAR" I can spot them a mile away. At least I won't get fooled again! -

International House of Prayer. I'm suprised International House of Pancakes hasn't sued them. -

I did some digging a month or so ago, and it was like deja vu all over again.... These are quotes from a blog written by someone who was very involved with IHOP. Sounds like "Mike" could be VP reincarnated. see if any of this sounds familiar... or this? maybe this? hmmmm......... from here -

Bliss, this is crazy that you bring this up - it's one of the things that got me posting on GreaseSpot again... we live next to a couple who fellowship with IHOP. And even though I did not know about their religious affiliations, I kept getting this twi-kinda-vibe off of them. And then they started having meetings at their house - tons of cars parked out front. I came home, saw the cars, and had a momentary flashback to the twi days. Lots of young people, and they all seem so niave and fakey-sweet-friendly- but-somehow-distant. It all came rushing back. They even FEEL the same way as twi! -
I remember some teachings about how we shouldn't put our money in the stock market - that it was akin to gambling. Hmmmm.... And then there was an admonition I heard from one WC woman that I didn't need to purchase the health insurance they had at work, because I could believe God for good health. Apparently they don't follow their own financial advice.... after all, it would be foolish to invest IN "the" Household of God. There's no money in it!
