  1. Ron, A few times I stated our country would one day become overcome with Marshall Law but I was using the completely wrong example and our beautiful Dot helped me see the light by telling me it was Vigilante that I meant to use. :) I do feel if we don't start protecting our own a little better and stop rewarding the criminals and outsiders over that of the working citizens that contribute to society we will most definitely see it in our lifetimes. I hear it all around me growing by leaps and bounds. Kathy (and if someone needs to call me a bigot I can take it but you don't know me either)
  2. Pioneers of most everything need to be a sturdy bunch mentally and at times physically. I admire the gumption and can't say I've ever aspired to be one although I have freely put out my hand to receive some of their labor's benefits. And this is most definitely one of my favorite threads of all times. I hope it continues for a long while because the insights, experiences and wisdom is both refreshing and rewarding.

    What's a puttins?
  5. I believe there could be some physical jobs that stress the organs of a child bearing woman and in that case it wouldn't be that she wasn't qualified rather it just wouldn't be a wise choice.
  6. It keeps coming back to common sense doesn't it? What is best for all can be left to the wayside if removed from the equation I feel. I use to feel bad for the men that now had women in the mix on their job sites and wondered if there could have been some traditions and special bonds lost because they were no longer a group of men that could do and say as they wished without curbing their tongues and thoughts. At the same time felt bad for the women who were expected to take secretarial jobs or something of that nature rather than lead positions in companies. (no disrespect meant to secretaries) Today I think men can find their private spaces amongst just them so they can work out there needs that are different than ours and that women shouldn't hesitate to pursue something fitted to her physically and mentally. We spend more hours of our lives working than anything other than sleeping so why not feel you are contributing your best in whatever job you do. And that includes the woman being the boss man and being the worker both. Common sense just has to be part of the mix void of the brute of either sex having to prove their point.
  7. Hi Jean, I never watched that show but I can understand the concept of a man behind the wife getting lost; he'd have to be very secure in himself no doubt. And there are some military positions that the woman can't do but most she can nowadays. But to go after a job not physically suited for a woman just to prove a point hurts us more than helps is still my opinion. Glad to see you posting again. Kathy
  8. Hap, how does the bad amongst the mostly good justify the truth that the law oft times falls to the side of the criminal over that of the victim? (the work I am doing at the moment is tedious and allows many breaks)

While wasn't a global warming conference cancelled due to the weather being too cold?
  10. May your hours be multiplied as you go about your studies.
  11. You'll find no argument from me. As if that surprised anyone reading me. <_< And Hap, agreed I hope the jurors do the right thing but if we can award someone money for burning their crotch while placing a cup of hot coffee there that they got from McDonalds well I have to wonder about some of our personal motivations when sitting with that group of 12.
  12. Good points Free and you are welcome John and please do ask her to return.
  13. We aren't trustworthy to pass laws like that because the innocent will suffer along with the criminals. But we can hope that our jurors are not easily swayed by pictures of hungry children in other countries, or to be less dramatic jurors that believe in our country and want to see it prosper rather than become dependent upon the world.
  14. I just downloaded it and looked at our new home in Florida. Then at the one I'm in now. We have a larger yard here. :)
  15. Qualifications: 1) yes that seems important with an example of some construction work that takes manly strength that most women don't normally have. 2) in the military a woman has to be able to perform like a man and if she can she has the same risks and demands on her but yes one has to meet the job specs regardless of male or female 3) like in the first one I feel women weren't built to do some labor type things and some are not even healthy for child bearing age women because of the strain it can put on your internal organs Inbred: This one I'm not so sure of examples of, I can come up with parents that have musical talents also being in their children, at the moment I can't think of male-female things though.
  16. I want to read that again before I reply because I am multitasking too much and you hit on a couple things I would like to ponder. Dang, two posts got in before I did, like I said I am multitasking too much right now.
  17. If I knew I would run for President.
  18. Thanks Dooj! And you did one heck of a detailed job there. :) No question of it Lindy. Women can discretely feed their babes anywhere, which I did while in a room full of Navy men many a time. But I had me and the babe covered so no one saw a thing and I never made the guys uncomfortable. This woman wanted to do it in view, no covering, no consideration for the men around her.
  19. I'm really not helping with the de-rail gig am I? I think women proving a point without the intentions of giving their best efforts still hurt the respect factor towards women that are in authority. An example: somewhere around 1975 there was a woman that became a Firefighter/EMT and she had a baby while employed. She brought the child into the station where a nursery was provided. That alone wasn't the problem but her wanting to nurse in the station in front of the men was. They were uncomfortable with it and she felt that was discriminative towards her. She didn't do us any good in that endeavor. Common sense alone was thrown out the window. IMHO why should the entire system of Firefighters/EMT have to be in an upheaval to accommodate a woman that felt it was proper to whip it out and feed her child in front of them? Our authority in any endeavor will only be respected if we show respect to ourselves and others in the process. Bulldogs have hurt us for years. But I think we are gaining respect more today because there isn't quite the same fight factor there was at the start of the women's movement.
  20. I think she has more power than the president now.
  21. If I understand it correctly they still come together to vote changes amongst themselves so no one person has ultimate authority. (sorry for de-railing also)
  22. You mean as in they could end up sleeping with the fishes? I overheard a group of black women cutting Condolisa to shreds because she didn't act black enough. I was talking to my son about having more than one president in office at the same time and representing different parties. He said in Sweden they have a committee of presidents (of a sort) but even though the process is slower they have recognized one man cannot be sufficient to have the knowledge of military, finance, business, etc sufficiently. So it stands to reason if you have someone strong in the major needs area you could run a smoother country. He also felt a woman in office would be interesting and hoped in his lifetime he got to witness that. And even though he and I are not brains in this area he felt our country would eventually get it and said we are a young country that has to learn the hard knocks before we understand the importance of where we place our positions. I was tickled that he wanted a woman in office though and he complimented me by saying he'd seen me back off people with my logic and protective mode in gear and he'd like to see that in the oval office. He's just prejudice though cause I'm mom. :)
  23. Krys, There aren't any others that I know of either. My hopes are for the future since I don't want her to be our first example. :) Cathy, She'd have my vote!
