  1. Most adorable Mark, thanks so much for sharing with us.
  2. Heck, can I take a little bit from them all? ;)-->
  3. Herbie I'll not lie to you again and tell you I will be there. But iffin' that's the only way I can be invited...well...the thought of hanging out with the likes of you folks...SWEET! ;)--> Now tell me about that "donation" yall need. But I think Sudo is having way too much fun in all this. I mean he gets to pole dance and now you say he is gonna need more pear squeezin's funds. So why does he get to...never mind. So what does that mean anyway? :)-->
  4. Sudo, How do you go about getting invited? :)-->
  5. What does this ball look like? :P-->
  6. Hiya lovematters, thanks for the welcome back. :)--> It's good to know some things in life can be relied upon. Like the debating skills yall seem to enjoy. So nice to sit beside the fire and warm my bones. But ain't you and that chick ever gonna eat that apple? ;)-->
  7. Hey Ala, thanks for the welcome back. Yall are hard to leave ya know. Looks like lots of new folks have come in the last near year I was away. But you knew I was peeking in now and then. Like I said yall are hard to leave. ;)--> That music thread was a bunch of fun wasn't it? This time around think I'll do less talking and more reading though. Still taking my guitar lessons and I have some mighty fine calluses I'm proud of. And still on temporary assignment with the FBI. But one of the agents told me he was glad I was locked into the building with them rather than out on the street. What's up with that? :D--> Sorry thread starter, I have a tendency to derail. And haven't seen the movie yet so ain't got anything to offer.
  8. Well if Satori can come back then so can I.
  9. Socks, you make the simplest of these sound like chords of gold streaming through the air. Have a wonderful birthday my friend.
  10. Shell, you also gave them the key to the stuff that makes for inner beauty. Laleo, I also had the joy of reading your wonderful post before you deleted it, thank you. QQ, just before I left twi I heard our BC telling a young set of parents not to tell their child she was good. It would lead to false security. This usage of good tied into the child?s self-image is why I bring it up here. Yet this leader neglected the substance of stuff her self-image needed. I think the advice of the BC was like my advising a nuclear physicist on how to do their job (by the way did you see Sci-Fi interview with Robert Lazar last night. Incredible...oops I really digressed there). Anyway back to it again. My mom told me I was a pearl, never understood quite what that meant until later on in life and then understood she meant I was something precious born out of something ugly. Not meaning to go back to all that okay, but it is part of my upbringing. I do believe we impact our children?s ability to define beauty not only for themselves but also for those that will be a part of their lives. I am redefining what beauty is in regards to myself. And some moments my Mom?s sweet voice calling me her pearl comes to mind and refreshes me like a gentle breeze. As well words said by others offer me courage to claim inner beauty as my own. We are not an island unto ourselves; I am of the opinion that we aid in building what people think of themselves. Better to start it early so our children can cope with the fickle views of society on what is beauty. Johniam, I agree with the eyes.
  11. Hidden Dan, Of course I am joshing ya, I bet your system sounds quite wonderful. And my Bose only looks pretty while watching TV, cause it sure don?t give me nothing then. ;)--> Planet of the Apes was an interesting movie. Yea that story spread around quickly, leading to a variety of tales as to why I would have tried to run her over in her own living room. :D-->
  12. Zixar, now here is where I would just get plain decadent. Beings that I am spoiled rotten to my Bose, so best just stay with the plain ole TV speaker system. :)--> Dan that can not be seen, any home stereo....wash your mouth out with soap man. :P--> Rafael, One time I was driving an old van we had while living in North Miami off Miami Gardens. And the brakes failed just as I was pulling into a parking space. Up over the sidewalk I go cruising right into my neighbors front door. She opens the door to find me looking her in the face behind the windshield. I guess it freaked her out so much she thought I did it on purpose and started calling me names. I?m like what the heck, sure I do this sorta thing to get my jollies off. That?s as close as I have ever come to having a "drives in". :D-->
  13. Zixar, thanks for the link. I have seen yall talk about DVDs and all they offer over VHS. Guess it is time I upgrade. And then I can get the best options for hubby as far as DVDs of sci-fi, oh he will be one happy puppy, yepper he will. :)--> Loved your shot of Mars on that other thread!
  14. Rafael, gosh what a practical thing then, I don't have to figure out how to use two separate machines. Thanks bunches! :)-->
  15. Zixar, I have a quandary. I don?t own a DVD player yet, not the money but the something new to figure out. If I go to a DVD player I would still have to have a VHS machine cause of some things I have on tape I enjoy watching. And so I haven?t had the energy to figure how to have them both so just thought I would stay in the darker ages and keep my VHS machine. --> But can?t wait to see Return of the King. Just can?t wait. Rafael, are you trying to get this thread back on track. Cause I sure as heck ain't. :P--> I enjoyed the Freddy movies but never got into the Jason ones. So think I will pass on that one. Hubby wants to see The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with Sean Connery still. Heck it?ll be on VHS I think by the time we get around to it. :D-->
  16. Hubby agreed the film was best understood if you had read Herbert?s books. And he was intrigued with the way they handled the marriage of church and state in the series. I know I also mentioned this in that thread on Tolkien that he reread all that series as well as The Silmarillion. But IMO there was so much character depth in the books it would have been impossible to portray it in the movies. I know what I am getting him for Christmas, both sets of movies and first night tickets for the Return of the King.
  17. I couldn?t agree with you more on 'The Shining'. Some of those scenes still give me the willies. What an incredible movie. There were sections of that movie that could stand alone (hopefully that communicates). Honey I?m home....
  18. Hey Dan that can not be seen, Gosh it has been ages since we spoke. Thanks for the suggestion. Kubrick could be a thread unto himself couldn?t he? Hubby is the real sci-fi enthusiast in my family. He read the 'Dune' series years back, then for his birthday our son sent him all the books and he reread them again. Only after having watched the whole series on TV, and after all that started the books over again. Maybe that helps express his passion for sci-fi. Hmm is Dune considered sci-fi? --> Well looks like I did a derailment gig again didn?t I? Oh well, it ain?t like no one else around here does it right?! :P-->
  19. So the Monolith is kinda like a God of sorts. And when Bowman (hey wasn?t he in Dobbie Gillis) touches the big one he sees himself die and be reborn. I never saw the sequel 2010, probably would have been a smart thing to do I reckon. Thanks Zixar, I knew ya could do it. :)-->
  20. Zixar, Thanks! Hey can I ask you something about that movie? Sorry yall for momentary derailment. I think I understood ?the dawn of man? stuff (don?t agree with it), and ?Hal? and how human he was for a machine. And the Jupiter light show thing was totally awesome in my then present state of mind. But what the heck was that big metal thing? And how did it relate to the man getting old and being reborn at the ending. My memory is fuzzy because of how many years ago that was; heck my memory was fuzzy while I was watching it. I know you said it is hard to explain, but heck if anyone can do it you're the one! :D--> So what the heck is this thing?
  21. My first drive-in experience was in late 1968 and happened to be the second movie I had ever been to as well. Having been raised in a strict religious home. I was 15 and on an unofficial date with an older man. He was 23. He took me to see 2001 A Space Odyssey. But only after having smoked my first joint as well. So here we are in this weird *** state watching a weird *** movie and he wants to neck. I recall how difficult it was to concentrate on that movie and him at the same time. Later was asked by my curious Mom to relay the jest of the movie. I was dumbfounded as to reply. After that I had to unofficially date him on the back porch ONLY. -->
