Sudo, I'm bored at work for the second so peeking in and must tell you that is a total hoot!
-
Okay I know I'm a little late this morning but anyway.

Thank you and I admire your stand. Since I've known you these few years I've found you to be careful in approaching things in life yet bold to take risks. I suspect it's that filtering that lends itself to a sense of stability for us doesn't it? Where some may find our filter to be hindering or perhaps entrapping we have found it to be a source of strength and comfort. I do love how we vary even though we may not agree in critical issues with one another.

Dear man, it's not clarity at all that you lack. It's my ability to take it in. But folks here are wonderful to suffer me in that way. Sometimes I realize I gender laughs due to my "blondness" but heck I'm use to being the one that gets the joke last at times. ;)

Good lord! It would stand to reason it was a combination of things that has brought us to this point today. As for me I'll retain my leaning toward God over science and things that go bump in the night. Has religion hurt mankind as you pointed out in you own way Geo? Well heck yes it has but note I didn't say God I said religion! And science with it's straining out all spiritual matters has hurt it just as much! I think my lack of knowledge and quick humor hurts my ability to respond back here but I'll not back down on this point. It makes not one bit of difference how horrible God is in someone's mind, it lessons Him none! When you disprove science it's a done deal, nada that's all she wrote. But you can't disprove God. How do I know? Because I know Him! How can I prove it? I can't but then that proving doesn't earn or lose me anything in His care so I imagine once I get over my irritation I'll be just fine. And Geo I still think you're swell and realize you could have also included me in your reply to sirguessalot.

Nor did I! Yeah right! :D Good day to all!

You're one of those folks that make me have to read you a couple times in hopes I understand you. :) But this paragraph is an excellent point. ~~~~~ Religion and God offering the promise of the moon are totally different worlds. As well I tend to agree with Oak in that what he does works just fine for him. Likewise I claim that ground and along with it I receive substance from holding fast to what I know is true (God) where conversely I hold nothing for changing my opinion to match another just because they seem convinced. My version of what harm could be done in believing its God who provides what's truly important in life, so what if I found out in the end it was not true. But then it's impossible for me to actually believe that latter part so in essence it's just an exercise of words for me. But this universe giving of herself and all that is something I'd have to get really high to consider anymore.

Welcome GreasyTech, And thank you for the wavy. It's fun having a new face here. Thank you for joining us. We've a wonderful place to hang out and I'm so thankful you saw our welcome sign! Hey, that little wavy guy is in our clickable smilies now......I could have sworn I didn't see him last night.

I tried and can't find the answer. How many people go in non-Christian? Are there more men of faith because it's an easy out? I mean if 2 are now Christians and only 1 started that way it would make a difference I think. A difference only for this point but as to the bigger question....well Geo you know me fairly well now and I reckon you know I'm rather stuck on knowing someone bigger than myself is there for me no matter what. So I'll not chatter that subject to ya here probably anymore. But I would love to know the answer to the prison thing if anyone knew it.

The wavy guy ain't in our clickable smilies so I went and got him from testing where he's stored. I love this guy!

Hi Shell...hey we need that wavy guy...brb Much better!

Ala, OMG! How did you do it girl! I made Rick tell me the second one. (just because I like it) This means something to his second link.

Sorry got distracted. In our circle we have a close knit group I've mentioned. One of the women on occasion will get a certain thing going and it's best not to be in her presence. Hubby was heading over that way when a friend was quickly getting in his car and leaving which was to his surprise. He Inquired if yada was in there (they call each other by last name on occasion). That's a male thing I suspect. Anyway so out comes the neighbor informing him of the bad timing and hubby asked had yada said anything (reason he would) to which he replied while making a gesture towards the house that it was her that was the reason. So I got distracted with my hubby's account. I'll be honest I've never had the luxury of being successful with that sort of thing. The man I'm married to you wouldn't just shoo his friends away. Interesting how we each live and react to things differently. I couldn't imagine having that type of control over my husband. OMG! That was over the top serious! Rick, I don't recall either. The first has a closing that became a known closing though if I'm right on what I think I hear. But I've no idea. I asked hubby and he wasn't sure and when I mentioned Airwolf he quickly thought it could be that. As for the second I've no clue at all even with a line in the bridge (I believe) that should give it away. I can think of beer but is it that simple? I can't have guessed it I bet.

B) Rick, Listening now.
-
Geo, I submit my original post. And yes I did look at the study and to be honest it swayed me none. But then I don't agree that God is the source of some things that religion itself attributes to Him. I can't prove to you that had it not been for His presence I'd not be here today to tell you this but it's true and that's all I have. Guess I'll leave now. Kathy

Rick, I'll listen at home and guess if not known by then but I suspect I know the one even without listening. :) Ala, Does it have to do with Big also?
-
I would beg to differ dear! :)

Why is the trinity such a big deal?
ChattyKathy replied to def59's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Okay someone refresh me. In twi we were taught Jesus Christ was a man with an earthly mother and heavenly Father right? So why is all this now becoming such a non-issue to me? It seems to me regardless of your religion if you believe Jesus Christ and the holy spirit were of God then you have one leg in triune beliefs right off the bat, or have I become too lax in my thinking here? -
Then this should make us both happy! Ala, It has something to do with the sea! :P Shell, She has exceptional eyes doesn't she? What a sweetie she turned out to be, but then Sami is one hot momma right! ;) Okay so I should have waited 10 minutes to post my other posts but heck 10 is a long time ya know......well it was when we were in-rez.

Religion of convenience.

Who are you stranger? Well why don't you tell us a wild nostalgic tale of the sea. A good manly tale will ya? :D ;)

Your post brought back memories. It was amazing to me to have felt so cemented I thought in things of man's doctrine. The Word I knew before twi so that was not my awakening by any means yet I learned things still gratefully held.....but I remember when I began to think on my own again without constrain. That's the best way I know how to describe what it felt like when I was going through what you just described. Or close enough to it to really feel what you were saying. It can be rather scary and exciting as well.
