I asked Geo if I could post a little bit of an email he sent me. It describes a couple of the gifts mentioned above and I had to smile about the scarf. Enjoy Geo's descriptions...... The "scarf" is actually supposed to be a carrying cloth sort of thing that you would wrap a gift in. You'd wrap the cloth around a present of some sort, and tie a decorative (and VERY strong) knot in the ends of the cloth to form a sort of handle to carry the present in. Every Japanese woman I know is very adept at tying some really intricate and hearty knots. I guess all that time tying their obis gives them plenty of practice. But, please use it as a scarf if you like. Now you know what it really is, though. Here's a link to a tea ceremony site: http://home2.highway.ne.jp/hinachan/sadookokusai_e.htm It gives you a bit of the how-tos and whatnot. I've only done the whole tea ceremony once that I can remember. A samurai was expected to be an expert at it, as well as be able to compose poetry and haiku. Of course he also had the right of "kirisute", meaning he could kill whoever he wanted for no reason whatever, but it's nice to know that they had their softer side too, I guess? Anyway, the basics of the tea ceremony are: heat the water, mix the tea with the water, whisk it, and serve. The powered tea is a bit more expensive than the regular leaf tea, but Motohide wouldn't allow me to get anything but the powdered type once he saw the tea caddy. "Anything less would dishonor the container". Must be a Japanese thing.

That would be a wonderful idea Geo!

Geo, This will embarrass you perhaps but you can take it and I can take the consequences. I ran by the house on my lunch break for a quick check of the mail received and what did I find but a box from you from Japan! Of course that had nothing to do with why I went to check the mail in the first place. Yeah, right! :) Now I bring this up in part because we were talking of it openly in chat and in part because I want these folks here that love you to see more of you. I quickly opened it up and read your letter then started tossing peanuts aside to get to the goodies. I found more things than I could even look at (due to time) but I did see a beautiful lacquered tea caddy, a fabulous scarf with beautiful paintings on it, a mask to ward off evil spirits, some tissue in case I ever have to use the restroom in Japan and they not have any toilet paper, a receipt so I could see what it looked like but I don't even know if it is a receipt for what you sent, a men's magazine  but a real quick glanced found no naked people. And there was still a full box of stuff. I left it on my desk at home with peanuts all over the floor so when I return tonight I can enjoy the whole thing all over again. :) Now, why did I tell you this in open? Because if you could put together a box of things like that, pick out a beautiful tea caddy and woman's scarf for me (your buddy) then what in the world could you pick out for a woman you had interest in? Geo, you ain't got a problem in the world dear! I've told you that before in private and now I just told you it in public. (((geo))) Kathy

You know what, so do I. I think it can say quite a bit.

I think it's fantastic. The dimension this adds is unbelievable. To hear voices with inflections and tone just can't be compared to typed words, no matter how many smilies we have to choose from. And your music into and exit is quite nice as well. Am I correct that is your voice as the interviewer?

I remember these days. That's sweet about missing the youngin's. :)

That one I played was Rebel Rouser by Duane Eddy. But I don't know if it was the originally or not. That one you didn't sleep to was Georgy Girl by The Seekers and that one I'm pretty sure was the original. I loved those slumber parties. And sleeping was something that might come around daybreak when it was time to go home. Were you allowed to go home and sleep some? I was because mom knew it before hand that I'd need it.
-
Mrs. Sudo, I've no time now but I just read your posts from the evening (btw, I do hope you slept in after that) and I want you to know I love how you handle yourself. I love that you aren't intimidated. And I love that there are some folks that have chosen to engage in a civil discussion with you. You're a breath of fresh air! Kathy

Why did I (we) know you would know. :) Both husband and son read comics. But they were an entirely different comic from each other due to the time and what was available for my son but not for his dad when he read those same ones.
-
I don't know. I'm not so good with names though. Landmarks I'm better with. If I've been somewhere once I'll remember things well enough to have that help whenever (if ever) I return there again. My dad was like that. I watched him for years saying. Well I guess I need to adjust that landmark memory (because the area had grown so much). So I guess I just learned it. But names....I suck! Okay, so this will sound dorky but heck I'm in a mood or something. But once upon a time I thought I would like to be the person that places a fake room before a shoot. The one that graphs out exactly the placement of each item and then places it back as if the room was never disturbed. I swear I must have been going thru some strange period or something.

SaintGeorge, yup that's Robert Plant and The Honeydrippers singing Sea of Love. I love this version, but I love Robert Plant. The one you mentioned will be more recognized without question. Sudo, I watched with my son. I loved Sesame Street before he was old enough to be watching it. I was so thankful he grew up before they introduced that purple dinosaur and yellow sponge person. I've even mentioned to him how grateful I was for getting to go thru GI Joes, Star Wars and Transformers with him. And television was The Electric Company, Inspector Gadget and Scooby-Doo. Okay, I'm not off my music thing so bear with me again. :) Not recommended if you don't enjoy adult cartoon humor. HERE wav or HERE mp3 I was very young when this was still popular. So that means we're talking 50's. HERE wav or HERE mp3 Memories of youth and so many things comes flooding back with one which I favored at the time. HERE wav or HERE mp3

Like your namesake hug or be hugged on your special day! Happy Birthday!

Okay I'm in a music mood so before I head out for awhile I thought I'd provide some should anyone be so inclined. This one needs a warning for a morning listen. It has lots of energy and should not be listened to prior to coffee being consumed. But it's a fun song and it will be nostalgia for a certain age. HERE wav or HERE mp3 This one would have caused our twi leaders to frown based on some of the subject but I loved them back then and I love them today. Can be listened to prior to your first cup of coffee btw. HERE wav or HERE mp3 This one is just flat out lovely and comes from the same time period. HERE wav or HERE mp3

I noticed this forum got some company. You have to look for this thread now. :)

You'll have no problems at all. What a well spoken description in reply. One that introduces you quite well. And I love what you said in that last line of the quote I brought here. That is so romantic I can hardly stand it.
-
Mrs. Sudo, I don't post in The Way so can't reply to you there but here is as much your home as mine so I reckon we can chat a bit. I'm sure Sudo (well of course when you think his name it wouldn't sound like that LOL) has told you about our positions in general so you know you'll hear things and may at times be tempted to let it be personal where it hurts. Folks here hang together on purpose. They may bicker and bite but they choose to hang together. So don't ever allow the barks to become personal okay. You'll enjoy it a heck of a lot more if ya can avoid it. And this is just me to you. You don't have to listen to a word I say dear. It was a delight to get to know you tonight in chat some, really it was. Kathy

I got to talk to Sudo and Mrs. Sudo in chat tonight.... :)
-
Sudo, I'm laughing my butt off here. The last line was the best and certainly got my attention. That is excellent! The puppy goes in my library dear. :) That picture is lovely. And I don't think I mentioned before but you have a beautiful home from all you've shown us. We've had the oddest winter. It's been bitter cold but there are robins out eating berries from trees that sprouted too early due to being tricked by the weather. It just doesn't seem right. You enjoy that snow, I know you were just talking about wishing you had some and weren't you trying to convince the kids it actually did snow in Memphis? How much are y'all expecting in total? Sushi, Are you as funny in real life as you are here (and chat)?
-
You have my admiration. Life is full enough without going to school on top of it. I hope you planned in some rest time with the kids while they're there. And I bet your honey wishes he were there to be a part of your weekend. How wonderful for you both when he comes to join you. I'm so mentally tired I can't even think of simple words to say so I'm going to take a nice long hot bath and celebrate that I have the weekend before me.
-
I can't recall any of that but sure makes sense. I hope you are well Moon Girl. Have a great day dear.

Hiwayman, I agree the mother Pat Crowley was the reason I think I watched it. She was quirky and not like a typical mom. I agree on Mash getting weak toward the last years. But I enjoyed each new character as they came in. I just learned from Rick perhaps why Frank had left the show, I didn't realize he was sick and died. And Radar was just the best. Also the only actor to go from the movie to the series I think. Hmmm, am I correct on that, I'm not sure now.
-
Hiwayman and Sudo, yes it's Please Don't Eat The Daisies that ran from 65-67. I can't recall too much but I remember the mother wasn't a June Cleaver. I may have enjoyed it for that reason I think. Sudo, I loved Mash the movie and the television series both. I'll opt reruns of that over most anything else, well not West Wing, which I haven't watched once this new season. Ala, you mean we're suppose to hang up if we have to go to the bathroom and we're talking to someone. Rick, have you gotten this Beatles thing out of your system yet? And hubby said to tell you he'd never heard that version of My Bonnie before and thanks. Moon Girl, that sucks! My grandmother (Father's side) gave away my bride doll, along with her wardrobe that my mother had made for her. It had been put in her attic with some other items of my families when we were moving from one house to another. She told my mother she didn't realize it was mine. She was evil! Okay, back to Beatles stuff......
-
Good Morning young lady! Thanks for the pic again. And I think I know why the interest in the Beatles perhaps: 2/9/1964 - The Beatles made the first of three record-breaking appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show." 73 million people watched the show. It was their American TV debut. This one had a wife/mother who dared to be somewhat unconventional at the time. HERE

Ala, I love that song but being honest I'd have to say Judy Garland IS that song for me. :) And Joey's hard to put out of your heart and mind dear one. :( Sudo, I do love those oldBeatles and was wondering if you and Rick had some Beatlemania thing going on in the back room because he's been playing and talking about that also. Was there an anniversary of something recently pertaining to them? Hubby's favorite (as he was just listening to me play your tune) said his favorite was Fool on the Hill. I don't think I have one. I've liked them, not liked them, and liked them again. :) When I can figure out how to reduce pics I scan I'll show you my first 45. It's the only one I saved but it's precious to me. BTW, I've been instructed and have proper settings for that program you two use that use to make me run and hide, I'll start doing wav versus mp3's now. Moon Girl, What was your pic of?
