Ace was the one to go tonight.
-
I agree with Cool Waters, they are all winners.

Bottom three - Chris!, Paris!, and Ace. The bottom two were Chris and Ace! Chris escaped, Ace did not. Ace is gone. I wish him the best. I like them all this year. I've decided to root for Elliott. Despite his look, he is a real class act.

Rafael, You are a winner in my book. Eagle

I just ran across an article on the net that was from a former Wayfer that pretty much still uses the old VPW line of tithing ten percent as the Old Testament said, then blessings start only after the ten percent is exceeded. It also said that if we stopped tithing our lives would get much worse. While I want to tithe again some day, when I did stop it after leaving TWI, my life got much better, not worse. Even miracles happened in my life. What says Grease Spot citizens? Eagle

I never liked Rod Stewart. But I admit, I think he did the best job of coaching the contestants this year due to their performance.

We are down to the Final 7. We can post this every week. Who will win American Idol in 2006?

It was a shock to see Mendesa go, almost expected to see Bucky go, though I thought Ace should go first. Tonight, we had some great performances. Kellie Pickler though will most certainly be on the bottom three if not eliminated tomorrow, but I hope she is not eliminated. She had one bad performance and I hope she survives it. My problem is that she admitted on TV that she "butchered" the song, and when someone says that about themselves, voters tend to think the same even if she hadn't done so. She was off in a couple of notes. If she reacted much more maturely instead of apologetically (it was not that bad), she would be okay for tomorrow. But she stands a good chance of elimination tomorrow because she made herself stand out as "bad". To me, Elliot Yamin did very well, perhaps his best ever, but he consistently is on the bottom three lately. This may be because of his appearance. People are not looking at his talent but his look. He does not deserve bottom, but he will be there again. Ace to me was the worst singer this week, but with Pickler doing what she did, he may escape it again. While Pickler is cute and perky and funny, she might get the boot over Ace and Elliott. If she does, she should immediately hit the Nashville circuit. She really is talented. I picked Pickler to go tomorrow, my wife picked Elliott, though she likes him. She thinks too many women are voting for Ace because of his good looks. It keeps saving him. I think that will only carry him so far. We both still have Chris as ahead of all of them this year. But Kathleen McPhee, once or twice on the bottom three, has picked up incredibly and is closing in. She is definitely top 3. Paris had another fantastic showing and Taylor did his usual Wow! performance. Predictions on who will go tomorrow?

Men in G-strings? That sounds disgusting. But some G-stringed women would be tolerated. Accepted. Drooled upon. Worshipped. Whatever. But almost naked guys??? That's not American. Somebody go out and wave an American flag quick. Eagle P.S. And another thing. Men are sick and tired of being used as sex objects. It makes us feel cheap.

Me, too Ex, I like him too. I hope he survives the next round. I dunno...

satori001: Still don't buy that argument at all, that people with an extreme hate for gays may be gay themselves. It's almost like saying blacks who have an extreme hate for Nazis are...Nazis themselves. No, don't buy it. Sorry.

Kellie Pickler should immediately hit the Nashville circuit and give up Idol. She is wasting her time there. She could very well be the next great female country star. I don't think she is dumb, but I do think she is incredibly naive. She needs a caring manager to make sure someone does not take advantage of her. She is young. I thought Ace had his best performance when he did "We will Rock You". I always thought he was a bad singer, though, so a best performance by a bad singer is not saying much I suppose. Chris has got to soft pedal the hard rock. He can do anything but I expect, and my prediction from here with the top 7 is that Chris has the lead. I also put Taylor second, McPhee third. Pickler fourth, Paris fifth, Yamin sixth and Ace seventh. So I just gave the bottom three this coming week...Ace, Yamin, and Paris. Ace should most likely go but girls keeping saying how cute he is at work and Elliott gets a raw deal. Elliott may go this coming week. I will wait to see. I real screw up or bad review of the judges could turn things around. Eagle

Doubtful he was a homosexual. The gay stance that if one is truly against homosexuals then they must be homosexual themselves is perhaps a self defense mechanism for gays to get back at them, meaning "outing" those people to hurt them right back, even though there was nothing to "out". A lot of guys hate gays because them are repulsed by them. Nothing more to say about it. There are also guys that are effeminate that are straight. Face it, if a straight guy says he can't stand gays, then he may be saying that because...he can't stand gays. Eagle

To CKMkeon (and other Wierwille defenders), an Open Letter
Eagle replied to Zixar's topic in About The Way
Good post. I was hurt to find out about Wierwille's indiscretions, sexual or otherwise later after leaving the ministry. Then the plagiarism was not good news. Found myself defending him only five short years ago when my website went up. But after checking doctrine, usually to support him, I kind of got a shocker, even if the source was Bullinger or Leonard. So I posted my disagreements in doctrine on the site. Nothing about adultery or plagiarism. Just doctrine. My friends, most of them also Wierwille followers, cut my wife and I out of their lives. Just for disagreeing with some PFAL material. And these people were ex-members of the Way, some in splinter groups. So I didn't know what to say about my friends. Eagle -
markomalley: The request to remove the offensive pic of a crucified VPW was not about adulation of VPW but rather just about plain, human decency. And yes, absolutely, this HURTS the Wierwille family whether one likes them or not. They may have known of his faults but they surely loved him just as much as we loved our parents. For the love of God, let's not be animals on this site. This goes far beyond personal flaming. If this is what this thread produces, bloody images of VPW, then perhaps there is a REASON TWI wants to search ex-members coming in to the Sunday Services. Let's be civil on this thread and this site, or end the thread. Eagle

markomalley: I have to agree with Linda and some other posters about that pic you have of VPW hanging on a cross, or Jesus' body and VPW's face. That is entirely inappropriate even for this site. It stands insulting to the crucifixion of Christ. Words would have been better used to drive home the point. It's hard to accept the point you were making with it. Would you do us all a favor and please exercise some self-censorship and remove the offending post? Would one post a picture of one's mother or father hanging from a cross and mock it? I could ask that it especially not be done of our Savior. Also, it offends the Wierwille family shortly after facing the death of Dorothea Wierwille. They have enough grief. There's the First Amendment, then there is the abuse of it. It is legal to drink, and some get drunk and drive. It is legal to smoke and people die. It is legal to do what you did yet I cannot imagine the grief of those personally involved, if not the followers of Christ, then at least the children and grandchildren of VPW. It is up to you. God Bless. Eagle

Many will be saved because of you and your daughter's courage. Eagle -
Last Geerite I saw said he (Geer) was THE man of God. He replaced VPW. Some still believe this. You can't mess with PFAL with this crowd, either. Eagle

I agree with other posters, more power to her. Being involved in the community as well as she is can be a great example. Does not matter if she is involved with TWI. If TWI is proud of her, they should be. Got no problem with her mentioning her TWI status.

My wife and I watch American Idol. The first year I did not watch until the end. I preferred Justin and my wife like Kelly Clarkson. Kelly won. Then cam the Ruben versus Clay fight. I thought Ruben was good, but not great, and I thought Clay was great and so did my wife and most at our office rooted for Clay. Problem we saw was that Clay looked to pixie and almost feminine and Ruben looked more like a man. We thought Ruben might win anyway. He did. We both could not stand Fantasia. Whatever talent she had was lost on people. She lucked out. We were rooting for LaToya London that year and she was eliminated. Last year we thought Carrie Underwood was the best. She was. She won. That simple. This year there is boat-loads of talent. But the right ones do seem to be eliminated. Kevin, a lot like a pixie like Clay, was nice, but we knew his time was coming and it just came. He's out. Among those left we feel Ace is the worst singer and look for him to be on the bottom three much in the future until he leaves. Mandisa is a great singer for soul and R&B, but that is all. Paris is the same way. They have limits and they do not appeal to a broad audience. Lisa can appeal to a broader audience but does not have the loud screaming voice that Mandesa and Paris have, so she is judged for that. I think Lisa is a future talent. Elliot Yamin has a great voice but is limited in what to sing. I doubt he can rock. He will last a couple more, hit the bottom three, then finally go. Taylor Hicks has a warm and comical and charismatic appeal. I see him going to the top four at least. Katherine McPhee is becoming a top contender and in my opinion beats Mandesa hands down. She can go from low to high and soft to loud back to soft while Mandesa is only a shouter in my opinion. When I see Mandesa do something different, and the same with Paris, I'll believe they will be true contenders to the end. Bucky is a good country singer. He will go in the next two shows however, no more than three. Ace will be gone in the next three shows as well. Bucky should try Nashville. Kellie Pickler is getting better. She may make it to the top five but frankly she should try Nashville and the Opry. She is fantastic at country and is a doll. She'd sell a lot. My bet is on Chris to win American Idol this year. Everything he sings turns to gold. His rendition of "I Walk the Line" was amazing and I want to buy it. It was the good. What a rocker this guy is. I agree Brenna was obscene. We couldn't wait for her to go. Oh yeah, the top four this year for American Idol: Chris Taylor Hicks Mandesa Katherine McPhee

Hold The Presses - TWI IS A Research Ministry Again!
Eagle replied to Patriot's topic in About The Way
Well, kudos to TWI then for updating the CF and S class or whatever class it is now. They did not need Schoenheit's paper or book to teach that sex outside of marriage is wrong. It is pretty clear in the Bible and they can write their own book. I say, this time, good for them. Now, GS people, don't flame my a** because I believe TWI did a good thing here. I applaud any attempt they make to update their own research. It's great. It will gain believers for them (possibly) and for the right reasons, at least in the sexual doctrine area. Eagle -
I tend to think conspiracy, but I like that link on George Aar's post, I think I'll study it. I read Case Closed by Gerald Posner and was not convinced. I think now Posner was the umbrella guy. And the rumors I was in Dealey Plaza that day on a field trip from my sixth grade class are grossly exaggerated. Those pictures of me dressed up in my Halloween cop outfit with a badge on the grassy knoll are fakes. Yes, fakes. Of course, I did have trouble later pasting Oswald's head onto some photos... Eagle

I am into some conspiracy theories. Can anyone tell me who shot JFK?

I have that old white Way Corps brochure that says "A Lifetime of Christian Service". I believe that it meant that those that went into the program were expected to be not only lifetime members of TWI but also subject to a lifetime of Corps assignments. The problem here is that TWI practiced a lot of what other churches did and kept moving their clergy around...just when they got to know the people they were serving and leading in that area. I guess the reasons behind that was not to let the clergy become too conformed to one area and too relaxed. I have major problems with this theory. First, once someone gets to know an area, they get to become possible experts of that area and know the people very well and the best way to move God's Word there. Pulling them out of there on a consistent basis ruins what has started and plans are set back. Further, the Corps involved had to give up a key job, sell a house or never buy a house, rack up a lousy work record of quitting jobs every two or three years, not commit to a 401k very long or rack up a bunch of small ones, never acheive a pension, and many times lose good health insurance. The children involved are moved around like cattle and are most likely picked on by kids in their ever non-stop list of locales. Basically, it is a life of ruin. The real way to handle this is to allow the Corps person their own choice of appointment, let them move there, put them in charge of that area permanently until they decide to move again, if ever. There would be a lot of consistency and organization when it is done right. In other words, don't micro-manage their lives. Eagle
