  1. Your argument is that the Bibile doesn't say it's fiction. And that confuses people.
  2. Yes but the books need to be stamped fiction. Or else the reader might be spurred to debate the story.

    Belonging

I recently had a experience where folks I hardly knew found out I was once part of The Way. They then began warning others near me. Annoying, to put mildly. This happens when you are "in". This happens when you are "out". (Probably more frequently when "in").
  4. Did Jesus rise from the dead? Yes. . . . Because that truth is hard wired in all of us. The Jesus story/myth is one expression of that truth. And truth that cannot be summed up in words, only in part, and therefore not in a thread. (And that does not make it a con either.) As I understand from Campbell.

    LCM

LCM sucks. There. It's out there.
  6. It sounds like an argument against fundamentalism, not Christianity as a whole. Fundies need physical and historical evidence. Although "spiritually attained" sounds Wayfer. Which I understand as an abusive twist on social understandings distilled down to "because I said so". An interesting note you make on the writers conjuring evidence. It sounds like fundamentalism or forms of it is just as old as its Christ.
  7. You're argument was there should be more evidence that Jesus rose from the dead.
  8. For clarity, Are you arguing imagination alone creates gods?
  9. I'm not sure I find that argument clear. No things, such as religions, are not exactly the same. No two people are, let alone groups of people. Independent societies do come up with gods. As with they do governments of some sort. And probably a lot of other things.
  10. The Jesus story is older than Jesus. Or at least the pattern. It appears to be independent of any person or group of storytellers.
  11. So whatever is behind religion was not created by any person or group?
  12. I don't think anyone claimed he invented them. The Christ story of course is an example. It seems to have caught on pretty well.
  13. Is the resurrection itself historically significant event? It probably didn't actually happen. So no, there's no evidence, and it's not historically significant. Christianity itself majorly influenced history, or events in history. Christianity itself would be historically significant.
  14. There is no physical or historical evidence. There is no more evidence of the resurrection than there is evidence that Pinocchio was changed into a real boy.
  15. And please tell your brother someone "on the internet" said "mea culpa"
