um, in context of twi, I see "ladder climbing" as trying to get closer to God. The closer you are the more he loves you blah blah blah . . . You climb the ladder, to get revvy and be more spiritual etc. God talks to the people at the top more. Maybe it's to get more eternal rewards too. Didn't know if that was unclear or not.

I don't think that I've discounted that. In the spectrum of wayfer-types, I don't know who wouldn't sincerely claim they meant well.

Not everyone took the bait, no. There aren't millions or billions of wayfers. But if even a small group of people are all staring in the same direction, it's hard not to stop and try to see what they are looking at. If someone really believes this at first, sooner or later, they will no longer care what will happen. I believe many, perhaps thousands, ladder-climbed, as they do now. Probably for the same reason vpw did what he did. It's an organization begging for those kind of people. Everyone wants to be like vpw. He may have set a snare for a few. But I think he just sent out invitations for many others. One could "ladder-climb" in order to find out if it was a crock of road apples. The fact that it is easy leads one to realize nobody has any connection with a spirit world. Joe Believer was the real deceiver IMO. It's the claims of hundreds Joe Believers who claim PFAL changed their life and opened their eyes that causes others to listen to leadership.

one of the things obama talked of was encouraging students to become engineers, scientists, doctors etc. instead of business folks, who make all the money. Currently I TA a physical chemistry lab, mostly college seniors. one student is a high school kid. He's generally more interesting to talk to about the science than the other students, however we usually end up talking about the stockmarket. He's taking college chemistry, physical chemistry, for fun. He doesn't want to go into science. I asked why the hell not. He says he figures he'll take science courses, cause they'll make you smart. Then he'll go into business, because that's where the money is. kid's a genius.

I liked it. He talked about AiG and other stuff. "If you buy a toaster, and it blows up, there's laws that say you shoulda got a working toaster. There's no laws like that for credit cards and mortgages." It was laid back and informative I thought.
