Going back after leaving "The Way"
Bolshevik replied to believersnonbeliever's topic in About The Way
maybe take her to Hawaii. Don't let her tell anyone (in twi). let her clear her head. help her find new friends and new hobbies. get involved with a good cause. something else to think about and do. are her folks out? -
maybe I learned this in twi, but I thought the christian view of heaven was that you'd forget this life. It is all to be forgotten. who wants to remember any of this junk? that's an alternative ------------------------- I think people stay with twi for the same reasons that some want to not forget the good times.

I mean you don't want to get intangled with this. If she decides to stay with twi . . . well . . -
so, are you saying vpw meant well? you had/have nothing to do with The Way International? The Way International is not good or bad? It's for some but not others? --------------------------- I don't know why some feel sick to their stomach and others shrug and say, "Well, I had a good time."

You may need to protect yourself first. Often, there's no middle ground with these people. She cannot change The Way International or her freinds. -

Okay, Nottawayfer, If I remember, one church had someone demand their money, tithe or whatever they call it back. rosie ran to help that poor little church with moral support. "can't let people do whatever they please . . . do to them they'll do it to us . . . " yes ham, one of her boys graced us with his presence don't know how much she paid him I think there may have been grandchurin'

I don't think I'm alone when I say that I view your good times as a means to an end. you were used. good times were a means to other things. were they not?
-
I'm well aware worse things are out there. Much worse. I'm not really talking about childhood. Any good times, if there were any for me, were an illusion, it wasn't real, so I've worked to forget them as much as possible. All was a lie, there's no use for those memories. Maybe some lies are good? It's the lesson that in order for one person to enjoy life, another must suffer. So we handle it by telling those who pay the price that it is their problem. That's life. "I got mine, sorry about your luck." vpw didn't want it all bad all the time. he wanted you to have a good time.

Submission---Who has to do it?
Bolshevik replied to brideofjc's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
That'd be an interesting topic if you would. Why read them if they're for people 2000 years ago? or at least, why is the bible a "holy book" that hasn't been added to for the past 1900 years? -
I know a number of cases, The parents had a good time. The kids did not. It did waste time and money and set up imaginary and unimaginary obstacles. The grandparents watched and prayed and shook their heads. I guess every party has a price tag.

I wonder which group(s) of people had the best time.
-
that's the way I perceive it. and I believe some of the young folks live in their minds like it is the 1970s. They weren't even born yet, but act like they were there, and will share that experience with excitement.
-
this should be another thread.

oh I see, well, she only comes out at night, sparing people from having to see her full glory. I think god did something like that for moses . . .

good memories is like the wooden spoon. He who holds it, is right.

given lots of ABS to the red cross. build relations with other churches (says she) help the parks in NK try to look like a good little twi.
-
George, maybe you don't do this but lots of the folks (the rank and file joe believers) who had "good times" in the 1970s or around then are imposing their memory of life onto today. Whatever happens today doesn't matter. They had a good time in 1977 or whatever. They refuse to move on and demand that today's teens and twenty something see twi as it was in 197X, and obey. The good times and good feelings are the standard. Reality is not. I see wayfers/ex-wayfers reflections of good times as more of a power trip than anything. A way to not take responsibility and blame the next generation for the lack of "believing power" or whatever. so screw their fond memories, they're chasing shadows.
-
uh, those good times is what caused people to stay with twi today? the one-on-one bless you, love you, kiss kiss? the good times are twi's fuel, no? What else would they be running on?
-
another reason I don't see that there's an "authentic" you is that we're always playing some role. There's "you" with your spouse, you as a parent, you as a child, you as an employee/employer, you as a citizen etc. etc. etc. The rules are always changing. people in twi behaved differently depending on who's around. believers, leadership, unbelievers etc etc etc. which one is you? no-one lives in a vacuum.
-
I don't know who the abusers are. vpw's actions mind as well be my fault. god forbid I rain on someone's "good times" just wish they'd keep their "good times" off my life.
-
It would hurt less if people would just bunch me in the gut or something as apposed to telling about their stupid f-----ing "good times" when "Dr." was f---ing around.
-
yes, it is on his headstone or whatever it is. It means whatever the reader wants it too. twi was one long fantasy. He's also rumored to have said "Father forgive me I think I've made a big mistake" on his deathbed. The idea is that putting lcm in charge was the mistake.

there are numerous examples of Lamarckian-like studies (not that they are Lamarckian). There are genes in every critter that never get expressed. some might call it "throw-back" genes. others might see it as designed variation. a species can change quite rapidly, and it might not take many generations. I don't view genetics as "have this gene, behave this way everytime". They do instruct development of the brain, therefore the mind, therefore it's possibilities. and genetic twins have the same genes, but they are expressed slightly differently. even if they did, it would be impossible to raise them exactly the same way. even if you could, decisions they make can be seen in terms of possibility and probability, so it's like predicting the weather. flip a coin and tell me if it will be heads or tails. Now predict the result of a roll of 10,000 10,000-sided dice. that our minds are more then just eddies in the space dust I've yet to see.
