Are saying the fear was subtle? You left in the early 90s? I remember the fear being always so thick you could taste it. In fact, I believe a lot a people got a "high" off of it.

Sometimes groups of younger Staffers will organize witnessing events on their own. Usually ends up that the Cabinet folk have to go out and explain why what they are doing is wrong.

Kentcuky is along the Ohio River. I believe fish from the ocean came to Kentucky via the Mississippi not many generations ago. (You know, before the Europeans invaded.)
