. . . There's a church for rent just down the road . . . . . . I could use a few bucks . . .

vpw&co. would be exceptions because he/they are the ones being worshipped (although nobody would ever admit to that). When were other folks buried? During vpw's reighn or lcm's? I don't know if any others other than BOT/BOD have been buried on grounds since vpw? Didn't twi (at least in the 90s) want to be offensive? Only the could see "through the glass more clearly". Followers always got a kick out of shocking others with "the truth". (And do they call themselves Christian nowadays?)

Any opinions here on Pete Rose? I think he should be in the Hall of Fame, but posthumously.

If you said that I don't remember. I've heard the phrase "they [twi] claim to be christian" numerous times, and not just on this website, but at least one or two others. . . so I don't think you spoke too hastily.

We've got those white ones around too. Seen those black ones out west a bit. Used to see red ones back east. -
vpw was dead for most of my existance, it certainly could have evolved from "we're a better version than them" to "we're nothing like them"

Howard the Duck Allen's "Squirrel thinning" activities
Bolshevik replied to Ham's topic in About The Way
It was on PBS yesterday, kinda like the European invasion of the Americas, bringing disease, and attacking the locals. Some British folk see some metaphor or something with the grays being boisterous and gluttonous like Americans, and the reds being sophisticated and dainty or something. The reds are okay to me, but our grays are just fine I think. And what's with calling HA a duck? -

you had to sign up for them, then later on you'd get a map outlining your tiny section of woods. You'd also get a list of instructions like don't shoot below 10' and don't shoot rosie never even saw a dang squirrel, course the next day they'd be everywhere one dude did use a shotgun, and got two in one outing H. @llen would keep a tally and announce the "winner" at lunch time. He'd also instruct the women not to pray for the squirrels. . . . Ham, you do hear about what going on across the pond between the English Reds and the American Grays? -

some verses in acts, peter of Paul or someone talking to King Agrippa?? but the quote was "thou almost convincest me, thou christian" - this was usually quoted in a very snotty tone with a wrinkled nose. I think raf did article on it . . . well that's all Raf had on it. this was the verse used Acts 2:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

They moved it upstairs??? It used to sit by those big wooden doors. The stupid thing presided over my wife and I's wedding. We considered asking to have it moved for the wedding, but decided it would be to much of a stink. I can only wonder what all the relatives were thinking. I know Mrs. B and I want to be re-married someday because of where we were originally married. Stupid friggin' statue.

I think I've read a few times here posters saying that twi claimed to be christian. I don't recall ever claiming to be a christian as a wayfer. "christian" was taught to be a derogatory term. We viewed all trinitarians as worshipers of a different god. We used the term "believer" but I don't think it was to be equated as "christian". We basically believed christians were against the teachings of the bible. They were deluded and weak. twi claims to be "followers of the Lord Jesus Christ" but believes christians follow "a different jesus" "Christians should be prosperous" is about the only publication that comes to mind with the word "christian". But that was an earlier work wasn't it? It could be seen in modern way-world as a back-hand to those "weak, powerless christians". In fact, every now then I hear a wayfer talk about how they visited a church and they comment on how the church people have "no power" , how they are "two-dimensional", just no "depth to their being". I don't think a wayfer wants to be equated with christianity.

Wouldn't they view visiting grave sites as a form of worshiping the dead? The dead are dead, wash your face and move on?
-
Hi Waylaid, I think it's more about dealing with future "way experiences". Making fun of them can take the sting out of future words and actions of The Way International and its supporters.

used to go on H. @llen's squirrel thinning gigs there. . . never got any did get within 10 feet of a deer . . . a deer w/ a .22, that'd be crazy It was especially gorgeous in the wintertime, with the trees hanging over that large ditch covered in snow. although in the spring that ditch would fill with water. some of us wanted to get a rubber raft . . .

ah, it was a strange event. . . . . wasn't McMullen vpw's bodyguard? I believe we were told to stay away from him cause he knew karate and would break us in half or something.
-
McMullan called the News cameras out of Lima. They did interviews with twi before the incident happened I believe. Everyone new he was coming. There Sheriff's deputies were waiting. Everyone knew that you could call HQ to visit. There are a lot of dangerous yahoos who would also like to get on grounds freely. There are children who live there. On the news I don't remember McMullan talking about a mom's baby. He talked about his relationship with vpw I thought. He looked like a looney. (Not that Lima News made twi look any good either.) If there was a large enough demand I would think twi would set aside even a parking spot for visitors of the sites. They still spend time caring for the Way Woods and fountain because they are grave sites.

A Question About Christian Values
Bolshevik replied to Tom's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
well even being "helped" can be a matter of opinion - but I'll stop there. In a larger scheme of things WWII has no net effect, on a larger time-line all of humanity has no net effect, IMO. The Taliban might be an example. They would likely argue that they are responding to the "evil", the harm, hurting, oppressive, killing by other nations on those they claim to represent. They probably think of themselves as "good". Others would disagree and call them "evil". Who or what is innocent and why? If we view the world as having less resources than can support a given number of beings having a "good life", so to speak, someone is going to get the shaft. How is it decided who lives and how much? A role of the dice plays an enourmous role, IMO. The definitions I think assume that the goals of the "good" are even possible to carry out for everyone. -
A Question About Christian Values
Bolshevik replied to Tom's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
A fire departments goals are rather clear I think. Mitigate, possibly prevent, situations. They didn't cause the situation and are not responsible for it. They are charged to not make it worse. The Way was about setting out to do the will of a Supreme Being, the One would supposedly knows the right answers. That is something that is completely unclear. What is good or bad, right or wrong varies depending on who is speaking. "good" and "bad" were done but the net was what? Just more of the same. Had the organization not existed, it wouldn't have made a difference. Some people who were helped possibly would not have been and some people who were screwed over possibly would not have been. Some people who screwed others over via twi would probably had found other avenues for that activity. Others who helped people in twi would have found another avenue to do so. People may gather for doing "good" or "evil" but is there any net "gain/loss" in the grand scheme of things? It's just activities people do. having good and evil on a linear scale suggests there are two opposing forces. Or a least one directional force. In reality there's probably more dimensions, and the scale slides this way and that with time. -
The teacher's suite always had a shower, far as I know. The OSC has showers too I believe. I don't know, wouldn't most dressing rooms back stage need showers?
