  1. oh heck two wayfers just talking to each other . . . in or out . . . or even I say something to them . . . or if they see something on TV . . . pretty much anything. kinda scary.
  2. So is it fear that triggers a "nostalgic reaction"? i.e. Realizing one has wasted 20 years on utter nonsense, but not wanting to accept it? . . . Also, a lot of the young folks today in twi, who were born in the 80s and 90s, seem to be nostalgic for the 70s. They weren't there. . . . Don't know what to think about that . . . My word is as good as theirs.
  3. Money. Money is a huge, maybe the biggest problem, when leaving twi, imo. If you're leaving, you probably don't have any, and twi taught you how to handle it.
  4. My mommy saved my brother when he was getting shot at in Iraq. She thanks Wierwille's Law of Believing for her efforts. No, they don't worry, a mommy's duty is to simply believe. <_<
  5. That does make a lot more sense. I find the other Christians generally more silly than the fundies (except for some). "Oh, no, see, you can't read it that way! . . . We're so much smarter now than Christians from years ago . . ." (Where have I heard that before?) Oh, okay . . . I guess you found some magic rocks in a hat that helps you decode your holy book. The heck is the book for anyway if its all in code? We've all got to culture and history experts now? How often does that change? How plastic can this holy book get? Mind as well view the bible as a mere curiosity. People rising from the dead, eternal life . . . doesn't the laws of thermodynamics show the whole book to be preposterous? There are a lot of folks in churches who don't believe in any of the stories of Jesus and such. They just like the ideas presented. Perhaps a lot of "non-fundie" christians are merely in transition to become church-going nonbelievers. anyway . . . ramble ramble . . .
  6. I kept my Founder's door locked and a baseball bat next to my bed. A number of folks they allow on Staff aren't exactly all there.
  7. I've watched several people get hurt for the 10,000th time and begin to leave "The Ministry". However, for whatever reason they remain friends with innies. Maybe they'd been friends for a long time. Anyway, wayfers are very much like pavlovian dogs. The right words and expressions cause them to behave certain ways. So those who leave but stay tied to twi, essentially live as if they are still in. It's amazing, any wayfer can come up to these people and it's like they have a remote control to their brains. So, maybe move to a part of the country where NOBODY knows your name.
  8. As a teenager I got it in my head that if vpw got all this knowledge from the bible, then I should be repeat the process for myself. (So that I would really understand it.) I would spend hours going through a syllabus trying to see the natural flow from the bible. Constantly I would get frustrated, digging through a concordance or whatever book trying to find "Where on earth did this come from?" I didn't come up with my own "religion" or anything, I just couldn't find where twi got its info. I would start asking my folks first, who point to the fellowship leader, who then would guide me to a limb leader, or another class, or some other book written by Pillai. "Read this, ask so and so, take this class, go Way D, Go corps". If I had a physics question or any other subject, the teacher at school would spend time after school hammering out some minute point, grabbing any resource until the question was answered clearly and I could repeat it THAT DAY. Not say "Well, you'll learn that when you get to college" NOBODY in twi really cared about syncing their "doctrine" with the bible. I asked numerous cabinet and region coordinators, numerous rank and file, "Where'd this come from?", always got the answer "Well, Doctor Wierwille once said . . . blah blah blah . . . in the Blue Book it says . . blah blah blah." NOBODY really knew ANYTHING of substance about THE BIBLE. (KJV included). NOBODY in twi "works the word" or really knows that vpw's teachings come from "da werd". If they say they do, they are lying. IMHO.
  9. that's what she said two posts ago. does anyone really believe the threats can be upheld? Where are the "armed guards" now? I'd bet a lot of them joined spinoffs. nowadays if they pulled that, getting back at them would be much easier. They have more to risk.
  10. Ever shot a potato cannon? You need to apply lcm's 4-Ds to Discipleship. First you need to make the Decision to get the potato cannon. Then the Desire will come.
  11. "kinder and gentler" IMHO, this when followers of twi are given the license to cowardice. A follower can think they are part of something and walk around thinking they have an ounce of substance. If you're just leaving, maybe you should see a chiropractor.
  12. You mean internationally? (not in the U.S.)?
  13. You should mention the soccer nets have been taken out . . . but mention ultimate frisbee, they will come . . .

    The Flu

at least two kids at my kid's daycare got H1N1. My son got sent home the other day for being sick. My wife had to take off work to watch him, but by happy coincidence the county was giving out free H1N1 vaccines to priority candidates that day. So I sleep a little better.
  15. My guess is that religion has nothing to do with it. More to do with wanting to be part of a group and needed to define who's "in" and who's "out".
  16. Delusion as all some have. There's nowhere to go for them.
  17. Yeah, you could just watch people sulk for the next few decades . . . essentially being a lone offshoot . . . population: 1.
  18. On another hand, an offshoot might be good, since if people just left they're probably old. Not a lot of time to sort things out. They might be happier that way.
  19. I don't know, Billy only may have scratched the surface . . . dude, Billy? Hellllooo?
  20. Martindale had some article in his class on methane hydrates. When I heard it I was like "ppfft!" Exploding ice ha ha, add methane to anything, see what you can do. People have been killed by exploding cows . . . because of the methane inside them . . . not the water. You see, the cow's insides coordinate to act as a clathrate . . .
