  1. I've heard plenty of times folks were asked to go to fellowship . . . . and they just never stopped going. No reason. No reason to stay . . . no reason to leave. They can't give a reason why they go to fellowship. Some people can just be told "Do this". And they just do it. Just how they are probed.
  2. Did anyone get involved because of malfunctioning androids or mutant aliens? That's what I want to know. Getting involved with TWI is a quick, conscious decision that must be made with haste. There is no vagueness. Or not.
  3. Bait and switch? or love-bombing? (or is love-bombing part of bait and switch?)
  4. Hi Waysider. Maybe another thread topic where this has been discussed. Someone knowledgeable of how to pull the the strings can start a cult. I think that's the easy part. (Relatively) One question I've been hung up on . . . as we see in a very recent prior post . . . is how people NOT knowledgeable of the mechanism, passive carriers of abusive pieces to a larger system. That's where the "Bad Guy" can't be found . . . because maybe there isn't someone, or central brain, pulling the strings. Am I making sense?
  5. Fear of family. Many people, a coordinated effort. If I disappeared, left the state, I could be found. Just too many arguments with too many people. Leave the Ministry? How could you do that to your mother? Edited to add: It got so bad, . . . I contemplated it all atop the Grand Canyon. Sometimes I think the other leap would have been less painful.
  6. Right, this sort of thing, dogma arguments (if we can call it that), I think takes away from focusing on what actually happens in a cult. Fluffy nonsense to distract the abused, and if someone is actually trying to help, a red herring.
  7. An obsession can be harmful out of moderation. With a cult, are you referring to there being an individual or group seeking to abuse another? (Although I always thought "cult classic" was fun to say. Now I might bite my tongue.)
  8. I don't. Sorry "rewriting" wasn't about you or your post. I see that looks bad.
  9. This is something some here (at GSC) understand. I think most people's (in the USA) minds jump to the religious aspects. Everything becomes a religious discussion. That makes it difficult to have constructive conversations.
  10. Yes. cult, family, gang. The line between selfishness and selflessness. It's somewhere there?
  11. Garth, Do me a favor. Rewrite Penworks' post. And Rafs'. Tell me their meanings. (emphasis on the "s")
  12. It looked like you wrote this, Garth. You mentioned a scientific method. And rightly dividing. You're alluding to something?
  13. OMG doglover, they made it into a song at some point. It just came back as I read your words . . . ha ha ha
  14. It sounds like people who are isolated already are the easiest targets?
  15. No they don't, yes they do, no they don't, yes they do, . . . ad infinitum. You through in the scientific method. Why?
  16. Hi Garth, Rightly dividing? What is that? Who does that ever? What does law have to do with the scientific method? It's Law. Religion and science often bow to it. Religion is in the mind. Just a facade, a tool. cult = family Appreciate your input. Have a good evening.
  17. It used to be in the front cover of every way-mag
  18. If I read it right they threw in Satan and Adversary . . . helps polarize things . . . "we need to forgive each other out of fear because we're at war"
  19. That article was about forgiveness?? . . . I guess it's easy to forgive when the feeling is nothing but indifference . . . Forgiveness is good I guess. I would first like to forgive myself . . . for taking the time to read that crap. *sets down the fork*
  20. Really . . . take some random versus . . . snooze in a paragraph or two in between . . . everyone nods in approval . . . this was education??? *grabs that fork*
  21. A writing style that's still hard to read. Empty and hollow. *resists stabbing himself with a fork*
  22. A lot of us either weren't born yet or simply never saw any "glory days". VPW may or may not have actually existed . . . point being he never mattered. TWI is like a battle for a memory.
  23. *begins slicing onions and smashing garlic for no reason*
  24. You were doing well because God was blessing you because of your believing, why would you need to be screamed at? Screaming is for reproof and correction. You clearly got the doctrine right, in Word and in practice.
