HA! Why indeed? I can recall a number of times "outsiders" would ask a similar question, just an honest question about why the practices waste time and energy? (Do you have to be there EVERY Sunday/Tuesday etc? Can't someone take notes and share them with the rest of you later? Life comes up, doesn't your leadership understand that?) I never had a good answer. Just smiled and nodded 'cause Gawd in his infinite wisdom had some reason and to love is to obey.

Been trying to wrap my head around this whole VPW connected to JBS, Liberty Lobby stuff . . . As if the realization that TWI batted my life around from the beginning hasn't led to my extreme and acute sense of paranoia enough . . . After several intense google searches, I now know it's been THEM <-- (see link) behind TWI's actions all along. My life is a delusion spun from a con of a twisted theory conspired by a secret society organized and directed by none other than THEM. All is clear now. For now. Maybe.

Breathe, MM, breathe! Subliminal messaging at its most pathetic. Bringing every thought Captive. And water-boarded. (If you start humming to Trdy, DO seek counseling.)

What I've read so far about Stiles, without going into detail, I get the picture his work is a gimmick. Okay, so VPW acted independently for the most part, taking from many. But many of the folks he took from don't sound like great characters themselves. They all seemed to know where to find each other.

This is a great synopsis. Thank you WW. My memories are mostly post-fog. Cop-out, stick, Geer, fog were always part of the conversations. (I was just listening . . . my duty was to hush). People were always leaving through my whole experience, until of course I left. Like Game of Thrones, don't get attached to anyone. Losing people just added something to talk about. I felt that people in TWI had the idea that anyone who stayed in The Ministry until death got more rewards at the Bema. If people left, that just means you get a greater cut of the spiritual rewards later, because they lost out by walking away. Witnessing . . . it wasn't about bringing in new people in . . . it was about spiritually keeping the Adversary at bay. Speaking the Word has power. The Adversary had to move his minions to counter it . . . that's how we stood to protect The Ministry . . . spiritual diversion tactics. At the same time, people are not coming in, classes were still demanded. They had to pick on somebody. Guess who? TWI is an organization turned inward on itself, IMO. As far as my memory serves, it always was.

Was Leonard the guy who Wierwille said he admired for his blatant disrespect for women? I thought that was in Whiteside's book . . . I got rid of my copy. Wordwolf's Thread HERE Sounds like quite the clash of the egos. I'm getting that, VPW borrowed from a lot, but, he borrowed most from Leonard. VPW brought his own selfish drive, and Leonard was his biggest inspiration. His final words: "Eye wish Eye was the man Eye new to B. . . . B.G. Leonard" Edited to Add, It was Stiles.

Reading about these larger influences on VPW's life and his vain behavior . . Is it being suggested that VPW's TWI is like an offshoot of something else? There are many TWI offshoots, where folks vainly try to re-create something that never truly was; the image VPW created in their minds. Is anyone of the opinion that VPW was of a similar persuasion?

I knew the color of my name-tag would finally change . . . and that when the Advanced Class was brought up in Fellowship I would no longer feel like all the eyes were staring at me . . . Edited to add: Instead of college fund . . . It was made sure that I had an Advanced Class fund.

Interesting history in that wikipedia article on Thomas Paine, Rocky. Thanks for the link!

For Eve to think otherwise was forbidden . . .

With TWI's focus on abundance as well, I thought this youtube video by JP Sears about The Law of Attraction has some good points as well. If you accept that The Law of Attraction and The Law of Believing are essentially the same thing.

(is there a thread title on that one? . . . I would be interested reading that viewpoint pertaining to TWI)

I was somewhere around New Knoxville on the edge of a cornfield when the drugs began to take hold . . .
-
Oh dear, we've reached an excited state of being. I appreciate your and everyone's input on this thread, Waysider.
-
I've also heard it called "ego inflation". And it is still an interesting topic to re-visit, addressing where it's power really lies, IMO. Wayfers have their own reality, which I think you have to keep in mind when communicating with them. I brought up the spirit realm and believing as examples of how Waybrain minds see things others don't. Sticks and Waytree terminology are telling as to how Wayfers perceive the world and themselves. IMO. I was reminded of the "sticks" experiences and wanted to focus on that on this thread.
-
It is de-humanizing. It is indeed. And a nicer-sounding term than was usually given to folks who leave or were not involved with TWI proper. (It may have discouraged those still in from thinking of offshoots as alternatives as well.)
-
Likely started during or post-fog then. Stick Fellowships operate like twigs but are no longer attached to the Tree, so they don't get the nourishment from the root and they die blah blah you get picture. The way people refer to each other with those terms . . . maybe I don't describe it well enough here . . . that's what gets my attention.
-
I just think it odd how serious, or how real, those terms were used. Stick, Twig, Limb, Leaf(rarely) etc. It's a labeling of a person/group within or previously within the organization. Is that what they really are? Much like how people would describe devil spirits they'd seen. Is that what they really saw? . . . . Or The "Law of Believing" is sometimes referred to as "magical thinking". A person drives their mind to change their perception reality. The Way Tree terminology - the purpose - to distort the fact in people's minds that TWI is an organization?
-
I tend to think that those who first saw PFAL on a Projection film understand these things better. Crazy, ain't it?
-
Since this now seems to be critical thinking thread: If you don't understand how your mind works, others will. If others know how your mind works, and you don't defend yourself, who's in control of you? It's an uncomfortable but true thought. PFAL and other classes and practices made a common system for how minds should operate. In a cult there's a large group whose minds were predictably the same. I think the only sense of freedom, in the cult scenario, is to be on top. (Which is an abusive position by nature). Perhaps that's why fingers point upward in resentment, such as at the Corps. I've seen in TWI, even teenagers or young people raised by leadership, able to hi-jack the thought system. They know what to say, they know how a wayfer will respond, they get the results. (A vague example)
-
I think I see what mean, TLC. I appreciate you taking the time to point this out to me. It was not apparent to me earlier, sorry. I shall take some time to think about my thought process and how that resulted in the actions I've taken here. I may have gotten a little carried away. Again, my bad. Take it easy, Dude.
-
Well, um, I never thought that age really matters . . . when you're rotten to the Corps? No, I have never to my knowledge met VPW.
-
He and I have had numerous conversations, and I assume will have many more. ;)

Honestly, I think I made a fair and factual statement to say or suggest that ALL doctrines taught and applied VIA VPW and his ministry were picked for selfish/abusive intent. IF someone is able separate, honestly, GOOD from that man's use of any doctrine, make that thread. I can't, honestly. If VPW taught that breathing air is good for your health, he had an ulterior motive. Has nothing to do with the fact breathing air is good for your health. And there's no better way to interpret the mess that is TWI than by viewing VPW through that lens. To focus on the doctrine alone or in any other way is dishonest. Unless someone can demonstrate otherwise, honestly.
-
This is a great idea. The doctrines, and actions and practice following those doctrines though, they have to be seen via the intent, frame of mind, POV, of the user? Knowing VPW intended harm and viewed material for his own self-centered purposes makes the doctrines and practices less muddy in hindsight. View the doctrines as a perpetrator would view them and you will find answers about why they were even taught.
