Minds self-conditioned to PFAL can't see the chicanery. A healthy person would. So how does one count who? I wouldn't limit the knowledge of sever sexual misconduct to leadership. The rank and file could know as well. VPW's behavior is after all, just "rumors that have circulated since the 70s". So I've heard.

Does she have a reason to leave Foxhaven and all the Staff perks? What worries me is the seating arrangements at the noon meal. Don't emeritus trustees/directors have their own kiddie table? She will be more than that. She will be Emeritus Woman of God of Our Day and France and Ireland. If God sends revelation might the signals get messed up if she's too close to the head table? This could be chaos.

Ditto. -------------- What I've witnessed since the 80s, TWI's "legitimacy" has more to do with arguments with those outside TWI. Wayfers can't win an argument with someone outside of TWI, they run to Wayworld, where the image of VPW justifies their worthless thoughts. JMO.

That and can an old dog learn new tricks? . . . okay folks, time to retire, off you go! And btw, check the reality you've held for 40-plus years at the door, we'll keep that too.

That's a price of the internet. We now have a heightened, detailed awareness of how TWI screwed and continues to screw us. And since you can't do squat about it, ignorance would have been nice.

I agree . . . But I wasn't intending to focus to be on the second generation. But that all the older generation knows, on some level, it's all a sham. Whoever becomes pres will carry that knowledge.

A reformer has to be someone who thinks they understand TWI better than current leadership. . . . I would think. If VPW was lying, (which I believe he was . . . not saying that I was there) . . . how is a reformer even possible? Hence leaderships fear of their own children . . . acting out on the lies they fed them.

Most people I saw come to TWI were coerced in some way or another. An inability to recognize, articulate, or maturely react to emotional abuse leads people to be drawn to all the things you've mentioned.

Chances are the new pres will not yet fulfill LCM's great warning and every PFAL grad's greatest, deepest, fear . . . The Way being run by the children they raised.

Well, I'll be interested to hear Jessie's response after confronting his/her leadership/wayfer-friends on the matter.

In The Way at times I know I took part in volunteer health screenings, sometimes whole fellowships get together to help some poorer family in the neighborhood. I don't think the question is, Why does The Way not have financial date "open for viewing". That's obvious. It's why do people consent to The Way's practices? Plenty of old-timers know, or have heard enough to deny ignorance, Wierwille was a sexual predator. With nothing to gain, and plenty to lose, they stand with The Way. Why is an individual with The Way?

To argue that they don't give, volunteer or contribute to communities would make Jessie look ignorant at best. And . . Shall we list how many ways thousands upon thousands of churches out there waste money?

They give to the local Red Cross.

TWI is mostly old-timers. At the very least, judgement is being thought of. I wouldn't call it kinder, gentler. Tactics are just less overt and direct. If Jessie is intelligent, he/she will note inconsistencies. Over time, some level of frustration will build. They want people to implode on themselves, if they're becoming wise to the act.

When does sensation become perception?

Your son/daughter will be used as an example to other followers of The Way. Whatever, youthful, qualities your son/daughter possesses, The Way will attribute to themselves. Wayfers will look at any positive qualities you've put into your son/daughter and attribute them to The Way. Your son/daughter, on the other hand, will be told by leaders that the local followers look to him/her as a source of inspiration. Your son/daughter will feel compelled to follow strict orders and make all (false) impressions possible, thinking it is for the sake of others who truly need it. In that way both local and HQ leaders can manipulate group members.

I grew up in TWI. I was argued with for and agaisnt TWI since I learned to talk. Doctrinal discussions and attacking leadership is a waste of time. Usually the people a person is connected with keep them involved. Unless someone is a nut job, which TWI has a lot of. Chances are someone young and with a degree will leave within a handful of years. Twi has no depth and most folks involved are not that interesting. I find it hard to believe anyone is involved to "learn the bible".

Cult is Family.

I'm thinking of that in light of the "Two by Two" requirements. It was bad enough you're rarely alone. If someone is always there, there's always someone to conjure up dirt about you. Pair up with enough people and suddenly you've got a jury out against you.

And we are to see them through the Eyes of Christ. VPW kept notebooks? VPW makes self-serving act. Decades after his death, people's minds are unwittingly making daily decisions based on that. Crazy stuff.

And it's not spying if someone else plants the cameras. Your thoughts are not private, and are being monitored, you can and will be punished, is some of the effect. I think it was strongly implied as well that everyone's thoughts will be revealed at the Bema as well. It implies your relationship with God and yourself is an open book. It implies leadership has special favor with God over the follower. It implies you are too inept to make your own decisions and your thoughts need monitoring. It encourages people, both leader and follower, to act like bumbling idiots.

I can usually tell what the cats want by reading them. Or maybe they just have me trained. When I want something I have to use a laser pointer. Maybe we're co-manipulators. But remember God has to take baby-steps to work with people to receive revelation. He has to use what we already understand at first until we're ready for audible revelation . . . so maybe God is teaching me via the cats. 9 manifestations . . . 9 lives. . . . I think it adds up.

So train people's emotional/social perceptions in terms of spiritual perceptions. Those most accepting of this alternate reality, make them leaders. Sort of reminds one of how the physical world was once perceived. LINK (edited to fix link)
