Sincerity is no guarantee for truth, so approach that with caution. But when witnessing, we are to show enthusiasm, en Theos. God is involved there. Now we see.

If you are referring the first line. . . by the poster. I liked it, it changed my perceptions. Maybe others won't like it. If you are referring to the second . . . the general impression of the thread . . . In The Way's Christianity, all things will one day die. Everything. Next comes resurrections. Hence "after-life". Leaves out life without ever dying. I was just trying to clarify.

I know I make day-to-day decisions based on where I want to be 10, 30, 50 years from now. If I thought I would cease to exist in 6 months, would I make different day-to-day decisions? Yes. Would those decisions involve starting riots and getting even and taking advantage of others and such? No. When I was Christian (of the Wayfer flavor), my decisions were subject to someone else. They would have made me aware of what to feel, think, and respond in such a scenario. After all, God is in charge. If there's no afterlife, that is what's right.

The context I think was why Christianity, and pointed to an afterlife as a motive to be Christian. This is an old thread and context might be lost. Christianity as I understood it had me begging that there was no afterlife. If Christianity had nothing to offer in this life, what cold possibly be imagined in an afterlife that is worthwhile?

Is it okay to recommend wierwilles books to others?
Bolshevik replied to ImLikeSoConfused's topic in About The Way
I tend to think of the books and material as pieces of a bigger machine with VPW at the hub. On their own, they're mostly nonsense. Just words out of context. How could they be understood in any useful way? Perhaps they resonate with certain types of thinking. Perhaps that's another thread topic. ILSC, nobody will arrest you or sue you for recommending VPW's material to others. -
Ah, see in his WAP class, he repeatedly and emphatically made the point to "tuck it away".

I met a young JW not long ago. Not a JW in heart, just "raised in the J-Word" He participates on anti-JW websites, but the people in his life are still JWs. I had asked him what he was a part of because his expressed frustration to others around him sounded familiar. I took five minutes, told him situations I would guess he was probably dealing with, how people in his life were treating him, and how I thought he probably felt. Even though I have no real experience with JWs, but plenty with TWI. For months after that he got excited every time I came around and would follow me and start telling me about JWs. He began speaking up more openly and positively to everyone around him what he was experiencing. I then heard other people start talking about abusive organizations and relationships and how they work. He was a cool character, fighting to go to school in spite of an organization that dictates aspects of his life. I hope he is doing well.

The only thing you should be apologizing for is mentioning 'the incident' in the EOB. *dumps bleach on computer screen*

I find I'm thrown off by the use of the word "dimensions" here, Mr Skyrider. The word implies depth to this organization and its people. Might try Perspective? And as far as iterations, might use some variation of THIS?

Banging on doors during dinnertime to explain life to strangers, or walking up to them in the mall, and the process of "conquering fear" in order to witness I'm sure broke down understanding of boundaries as well. I generally remember home fellowships being very heavy and gloomy. Teachings were anger/control charged. But that was 90s/00s. The Way was built in the 60s/70s and talk of the Hippies was common. Might the home fellowships be extensions of Hippie culture?

LCM was still around in 2000 if I remember right. At that time I was trying again to explore thinking outside TWI. Many parents were concerned about "keeping their children in fellowship". I believe that to be an extension of LCM's paranoia about his own children. At one point, my family under the direction of multiple Limb leaders from multiple areas (different states) wrote long lists of rules I was to follow, including how to drive a car, brushing your teeth, a Way materials study schedule and checking in Branch Coordinators on a regular basis like I was on Parole. It really helped me to give up on school and end up at HQ. The internet was popular back then too.

Tahu Vu Bahu (sp?) "Without form and void" <---- why talk so much about this and never give any good advice that is constructive? It amazes me he spent so much time seeking ways to shock minds. It amazes me more that followers seemingly craved new nonsense. How could a group constantly think evil and not see the results of their own behavior year after year, decade after decade? (that's meant rhetorically)

What I'd heard was LCM had family in the building and the bombing was a personal attack on LCM by The Adversary. Therefore the attack was on The Household.

In the 90s, as a child and teenager, I was forced to listen to hour after hour of LCM screaming via STS tapes. Misbehave? Then you need more of LCMs logic. It will help you develop the right attitude to start out in life. Younger siblings may have missed this time, and therefore they did not develop to the level of LCM's mentality. I've previously asked a number of wayfer families about this pattern. I believe it is a common phenomenon. Changes in corporate policy help divide groups of people, and keep TWI blameless in old-wineskins fashion. Timelines might help adjust the blame game from the individual back onto TWI.

PC my foot Death is a choice. We die when we quit believing to live. Childhood is genetic. But children CHOOSE to act like children. And the rod must fix that. Bull crud bull crud bull crud TLC you a diverting from the idea TWI believed there is an absolute right and perfect choice in every second of every mundane situation. Labeling any one choice as a fault allowed them to dismiss all following actions and consequence and assign blame when no fault was even necessary. Red Herring.

Wasn't the same ROA that the No Homo Parade happened the whole "all the teenagers are gathering in tents for free sex" happened? Like, being gay or lesbian, being a teenager is a choice. One that must be corrected. With force.

Sorry if I missed this, How old were D00p and H&fner when the takeover of way east and west happened? Why were they easy targets? "Purging" would seem a relatively normal business process after a merger.
-
How else to keep devil spirits out of the Household? Purging. At least they didn't burn people at the stake. Purging could be seen as a success story. Religious power being increasingly limited over the centuries. If you got purged you got dumped. They did you a favor.

Preparation is the highest form of believing. That is why keeping a 3x5 card about each individual you know handy combined with excellent dental hygiene is a sign of godliness. You don't want bad breathe to distract someone from hearing exactly how they are at fault for your own personal short-comings. The odor would not be a blessing.

Ditto. I recall one Limb leader specifically wanted tic-tacs.
