The teaching used to be to make the next generation responsible for them. That's what TWI says the Bible says. Take responsibility.
-
Ah, anti-intellectual. The Bible was written by ancients. To solve non-scientific problems. There's no credibility issue.
-
If anti-intellectualism was already part of society, I would guess that VPW was likely just playing on that.
-
Most accounts here don't show much decision process in getting involved or out really. My understanding is groups like TWI were a product of the times. You don't have much choice in that.

They are as valid as the Communist Manifesto. It's not invalid because VPW copied it. It's invalid because nobody operates all nine all the time in reality. VPW didn't go beyond, he repeated the same mistakes seen throughout The Old Testament. He copied works that support Totalitarian rule. Which always fails. That is all.

Learning critical thinking skills after the fact is a great tool. I don't believe it can be taught to teenagers and idealistic early 20 somethings effectively. It won't prevent much unless a specific cult is taught about. Many joined TWI after being warned. How is it Wierwille did what he did without breaking any laws? (I assume he broke some) He ran classes. No licence? No FDA warning label? No citations?

Aww! Never burn books. TWI withheld info. TWI burned alternatives. Read better books. See through bad books. -
I've heard it said before that when enough people with cognitive dissonance Gather Together the Masses collapse on themselves to create a singularity. This singularity has such an immense Mass that is distorts all the spacetime around it (and Light cannot escape). Thus, these people have a vision of reality extremely different than those people on the outside.

God's Word never comes back void. If some stranger you're witnessing too won't obey, it's because of THEIR unbelief. They've read their Bible wrong. Your job is to keep speaking The TRUTH of God's Word. Nevermind the FEAR when they've asked you to leave and they've called the cops. Are you going to obey GOD or obey THE WORLD? Ephesians 4:15. -

So, according to Einstein's Relativity, if Jesus held a laser pointer during the ascension, the people on the ground would be in one frame of reference, while Christ, traveling at a different speed, would be in another frame of reference. How would the two frames of reference be resolved for the appearance of the laser? This is another reason the plagiarism is important. VPW didn't cite References, and just assumed it would all work. Since Christ was The Word Made Flesh, where was the Word? In the Beginning. The Big Bang. Cosmic Background Radiation can be seen in the form of microwaves on your old TV set, the static black and white dots. This is electromagnetic radiation leftover from time following The Big Bang, which was In The Beginning, with The Word, which was with God, which was God. So someone's analytic skills can be put to good use. Find an old television set, turn it on, stare at the static. You WILL see the Beginning. And In The Beginning is The Word. Pay attention to every Dot and Tittle. -

Yes, I would recommend them. You didn't get "to whom" correct. -

No see, Mike is silent now . . . which means VPW was silent . . . which can only mean . . . VPW brought about his own personal return of Christ via believing of special revelation through constantly working the Word. He's just waiting for the rest of us. Mike may even be there now. *mind blown* -

Ok, yes, I think everyone should read what you're saying carefully, to see what's really going on there for themselves. -

This has to be the greatest thing I've ever read on this website. Top ten at least. -

You're pulling fast ones on yourself and seeing things that are not there. Nobody else "noticed" because it wasn't important. Not that you could really know that. Nor do you know VPW's thoughts. Magician? Like at a circus? Barnum Effect -

It was stated earlier that God expects us to know what we can know by the Five Senses. So it would seem sensible to sort out this nonsense by using the five senses to infer the essence of the scenarios possible since the first century. Which means all the Laws of Physics, gnosko and whatnot. Which means we can probably calculate the time it takes Jesus to ascend and travel to the right hand of God. Multiply that by 2, and we have the return time for the trip. My 2 cents, which is three short. -

As far as I understand, VPW used "The Written Word", extreme sola scriptura, as a means of displacing God and Jesus in mainstream Christianity. A follower gets so focused on interpreting verses they can't see the forest for the trees. Typical meanings of words are lost, ambiguity becomes the norm, the mind is deconstructed, any idea from seemingly nowhere becomes acceptable. Mike has basically added VPW's works to the canon? -

I would call PFAL garbage. A number of posters here have shown that the teachings are designed to encourage reduced critical thinking skills. By reading VPW's works, you can be made stupider. VPW may have plagiarized much, but he arranged it as a trap. In that way he was an author. -

Your posts and ideas are like the wooden spoon. Completely forced and wielded in blind chaotic madness against the easiest targets for trumped up imaginary problems. Your right, given time, they won't just be seen as rambling. -
