  1. God is an abstraction of an many ideals. Compared to any human, yes he is perfect. It's relative. We don't have to take everything as absolute.
  2. I liked the rib sandwiches. And swatting flys in the petting zoo. And the rib sandwiches. Water area at Founders. The Way woods and west woods. And the rib sandwiches.
  3. I think, if the Bible does indeed says "God doesn't change" . . . I think it's relative in meaning. He may change. But over a persons lifetime or several generations? He doesn't. Not thousands of years ago. We have better medicine today, does that make us better? We're certainly better off. It's also possible to lose that knowledge and its benefits. Same with morality.
  4. They may. But I think you're referred to Memes. But the snake story. Our ancestors who live in trees, they were snake food and evolved the wiring to fear them. There are stories that are just more true.
  5. Like with snakes associated with evil. If all the snake stories in the world were lost, they would re-emerge. Because we are wired to think that.
  6. I don't see superman as an expression of our evolutionary past.
  7. Which goes back to why stories survive better than propaganda. etc etc.
  8. And should there be a worldwide catastrophe, would we remain as moral as we think we are? We might try. We would fail. Not because of a lack of willingness, but because that understanding can be lost.
  9. Like I believe own of the aspects being worked out in David's story is the King's submission to God. King is the head of The State. But if he sees himself as the State, that's totalitarian rule. God serves as something above the King.
  10. And again, God serves a function a human cannot serve. So there's an absurdness to the comparison.
  11. I said understanding. "more" implies something more significant. It's been what? Thousands of years? Not millions.
  12. People's understanding of morality changes, the ideal person changes, then God changes. Evolution provides the number of frames from which we draw morality. That's why.
  13. My bad. I agree with you that understanding changes with time. Because, yes, we are limited.
  14. the point I'm "selling" Is one in which both theists and atheists can use together while maintaining there own viewpoints
  15. Yeah that might have been a comic book character. We're not supposed to use those now. (I mentioned I learned these ideas elsewhere and not from some pothead only to say I'm not making this up on the fly . . . I only hoped you saw how it worked and its utility, not to immediately accept it.) This is the closest to a usable idea you have put forth:
  16. Yeah the one that cuts up babies and force feeds them to their mothers. With garlic.
  17. I don't mind having a nerve touched. We discuss to figure what it is. I hope. I don't know what I haven't done proves other than I haven't done it. I don't know what I haven't thought proves other than I haven't thought it. I do know there's always more that could be thought and done. This website is full of stories of folks who aimed high for good and unwittingly did evil instead. Did Yahweh not understand what he was doing? If he knew exactly what he was doing and exactly what the outcome would be, I think he's head and shoulders above the rest of us.
  18. The thread asks "Are you more moral than Yahweh" The thread has provided zero evidence that anyone is more moral than Yahweh.
  19. Do I want to be associated with those dozen people? They are all capable of worse than Yahweh.
  20. You're still confused. You've dismissed what I told you as "evolving God". As you have with other posters. I understand that's your choice. You advertised this thread. You misled. You deceived.
  21. "You are more moral than Yahweh" what does it have to do with The Way International? How does it free anyone? How does it explain waybrain? What does it have to do with anything? How does it explain VPW and TWI and the corps and the rank and file? What did it have to do with David and Bathsheeba? How did your insult help understand the original poster mindframe better? I found my ideas from people who study such things. With degrees and reputations. Of course I won't immediately agree with, Raf, former Wayfer. Without some more supporting info.
  22. I am not talking about warm fuzzy feelings. That you would call it a warm fuzzy feeling shows your own lack of understanding of where gods come from. I didn't imagine this. Your insult is hateful. I can imagine say to some "my ideology is better than your ideology" but not "I am better or more moral than your ideology" for example.
  23. Your question implies an individual. Can a hermit have morality? You've got to interact with something, don't you? I'm not sure but it sounds like you do. For reasons I've previously stated an individual cannot, and should not consider, being more moral than a god. (Like a VPW) If by YOU you meant a large group . . . maybe we can get some traction. We could call "Yahweh" the spirit of the group. Like, team spirit. How does a group organize itself? What do they value? What pressures do they face? A lot of questions to answer. I think those were the points about culture that were shot down. We could compare groups. My team is better than your team. My god is better than your god. As opposed to a person better than a god. Is Yahweh a threat to anyone's group? That group is gone, to my knowledge. Can we bring in a modern god to work with? Can we have some modern analogous god to compare to?
  24. God is above and within a society (real or not) A person can't serve that role. Unless it's someone like VPW.
  25. You did ask about starting a society from scratch in the first post. Remove animals and evolution? People evolved from them.
