    One for you, Ham

  2. technically, she just marked them. She'd been avoiding everyone for many, many years.
  3. Definitions should change because understanding changes in a good discussion. You haven't done anything to clarify your position. I think others have pointed that out. This an ex rapist-worship cult site. Among other things. There's some need to compare moralities here? Probably safe in assuming the thread is some sort of good humor demonstration. A joke.
  4. ("evolving God" is Raf's term.) I'm not sure what you mean by this.
  5. Anyone interested in an actual conversation will note the above examples, What did the woman looking back represent psychologically? What did the story of Cain and Abel symbolize? (or you can insist that the stories are to be understood as literal, then make accusations at Yahweh for being a douche based on literal reading, then insist he doesn't exist anyway and offer solutions to your fabricated problems . . . any attempt to ground the conversation in reality is off topic)
  6. I gotcha now. I agree you wouldn't do those. But that wouldn't make you more moral.
  7. Yahweh allowed Cain to slay Abel. Was that barbaric? Can we just push it back to the first barbaric act?
  8. Yes it does, but, we can judge Yahweh? Yahweh said nothing would be perfect. It wasn't. Putting an imperfect law in place is usually better than no law at all. How can Yahweh be judged? Those few examples I threw out I was trying to put myself in a tribal attitude of thousands of years ago. Which none of us has experienced, so yes it will fall short. But at least see the reasoning behind it a little? Yahweh nearly tossed out humankind completely with the flood. He was allowing humanity to just hang in there. How can Yahweh be judged?
  9. See TLC, you'll never be on topic. It's just another thread to mentally separate oneself from VPW and TWI. Cake anyone?
  10. Fascinating. The stoning of children used to be read at fellowships. Good old OT. Of course, then everyone would stare at Bolshevik, after reading the passage. Really taught me a healthy fear of Yahweh. Because although I was never actually stoned to death, I knew how all the people of TWI felt.
  11. Is this a change from a person being more moral than Yahweh? Yahweh's actions are immoral, therefore a person can be more moral?
  12. Nobody here has been in Yahweh's position or in any position to commit genocide or force a marriage or kill for picking up sticks. So how can anyone compare their morality to Yahweh?
  13. Yahweh killed people for picking up sticks. That is awful and immoral today. To think you are more moral than that, is hogwash.
  14. Yahweh committed genocide. This is immoral by today's standards. To think you are more moral than that, is immoral.
  15. "I am Yahweh, I change every ten minutes, I don't have any real power, I read a couple books about building bird houses, don't know much after that" See. This is the god people want. People won't rally around that. Like Abe Lincoln said, "A house divided is what morally matters"
  16. I love how this "More moral than Yahweh" argument is so black and white. Cause when you see a black and white argument, you know that is something well thought out.
  17. Group identity is important for survival. Children not falling in line to the group's basic needs are a threat to the group's survival. So we send them to reality school? Send them to join a competing tribe? Let them get away with it, because, you know, that won't send any message to others.
  18. Sabbath was made holy . . . clearly for no reason, otherwise Raf would have mention why How to protect the Sabbath? Fine the person? That would imply The Sabbath is not that holy. Chaos!
  19. Barbarians acting barbaric proves that we are more moral than Yahweh. Okay. We're 3000 - 4000 years ago. Man rapes a woman (not raping another man or a woman raping anyone, just man versus woman) Let's cut the man's head off maybe? One less soldier to fight in the army? We need bodies for defense. What do we do with the damaged woman? What resources are available to help her without compromising the entire village? How will she survive?
  20. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/most-people-consider-themselves-to-be-morally-superior/
  21. We obviously can't fully transport ourselves back to that world of infinite hardship to demonstrate how it helped survival, back then. Are you more moral than Yahweh is clearly saying someone could go back in time and do better than all those generations of people. Were they not trying? Applying OT law to the modern world, you just can't. ISIS tossing gays off a rooftop? There's something to argue against, perhaps in a practical way that action can be taken and change can be made in the world. That has nothing to do with Yahweh, other than he is part of the foundation of our superior western culture compared to something like ISIS. Arguing Yahweh as immoral has zero productive outcome, possibly destructive only. Arguing what ISIS is, can be productive.
  22. Other humans use God or other gods and that affects change. Positive change in the form of survival for most of history. Such as in The Bible. That is real. The coffee cup explained it fine. A Liger is part Tiger. A tiger was needed to make it! There is middle ground. That's just the world. Your "atheism is not an assertion that God does not exist, merely not accepting the claim". That is just a meaningless deflection and a disengaging tactic. My view is not unique. -------------------------------------------------- "We are more Moral than Yahweh" a premise and conclusion all in one. Whoopie. The Word of God is The Will of God.
