  1. Is it still like that today with all the upheaval that continues?
  2. I worked in a call center for medical billing. What i liked about it was the research, so paralegal is pretty similar. My friend just got certified as a paralegal [she's 40 and a single mom]. Previously she worked 3 part time jobs and one was as a sheriff's dispatcher. She found the chase and the resolution mentally fascinating. Most people who like what they do like their job for the creativity or the mental challenge. Money may be the driving force for getting a job, it may keep you there, but is never a factor when it comes to feeling fulfilled, productive, or excited about what you do. The best place to start is to know yourself. One way to do that is to take two psychological profiles: The Meyers Briggs Personality The Holland Temperment Test These tests are offered online or at your local junior college. The first will broaden your horizons [about what could potentially fit you] The second will narrow your scope [by eliminating a "fit" that you don't have a good temperment for] Example: there may be a few careers that your personality fits, but your patience level may be a good reason not to do it. You may love working with/around children, but you are not good with them if they're ill. Therefore you'd be better as a teacher or camp leader rather than a pediatric nurse.
  3. "...and JAL and his wife doing their thing ( hopefully), it's closer to the current board." Hmmm...where is JAL? Never hear about him with CES/STFI anymore. I doubt the move was the rent issue; the big city office was paid in full. And half the board lives in Michigan. More people are in the city; the move sounds like personal convenience.
  4. If your life is your witness, you wouldn't have to GO WITNESS!!!
  5. For someone who craved attention and worship, he seems to have dropped off the face of the earth!
  6. well it's not in between, it IS in Martinsville. Seems like a long way from the hub of Indiana.
  7. I just got a note from a friend who said that the CES office is moving out of Indianapolis. Anyone know why?
  8. Pressure cooking is awesome, but it depends upon your goals for the meal. If you like your meats drier, this is not the best method because it retains moisture. It is great for cheaper cuts of meat; they have less marbled fat and can be dry or chewy. The pressure cooker tenderizes and moisturizes them, so it's a great $$ saver when on a tight budget. I do a pot roast in my cooker when I time is short. Normally I'll do an all day version [12 hrs] in a very low-temp oven, but can get the same results in 40 minutes with the pressure cooker. It is great for stews, soups, chiles, bean dishes and even puddings! I've never had an electric digital cooker; just the manual ones. Also cook boneless chicken quickly when I want shredded chicken for enchiladas, tacos etc.
  9. I thought John was higher up---second row from the top with a bright white shirt and light jacket and striped tie. He is surrounded by ladies all around except for one guy above him. He has glasses, a mustache and bushy black hair. Anyone else have input?
  10. Shame on the American Media is right!!! My grandfather gave his life for freedom; my father and brothers served proudly for this country. I am so tired of the media turning singers, dancers, and actors into saviours. It's so silly---! The true heroes of this world never broadcast what they've done...they just do...
  11. When I was in TWI, we were "on fire" and excited about knowing Jesus. We were "walking and leaping and praising God" all the time. Honestly, that video showed the most emotionless, lackluster, disinterested group of people i've ever seen. This was a tour about VPW, the grounds, the taxidermy---where is the passion, the excitement of just being alive? Also, the decor was well appointed but has such a sterile feeling. Just like TWI.
  12. "I think some of you want to attribute your choices to brainwashing, or mind control, but with the exception of the children, every last one of us determined our level of involvement. Age and lack of maturity may have been a factor, and TWI obviously took advantage of those factors, but the decision was always ours. The children are a different story, but even then they weren't so overtaken that most of them can't imagine life apart from TWI. There is some unlearning involved with an effective parting of the ways, but I don't know anyone who doesn't have to unlearn a few things along the way. Each one of us has a unique, authentic self, and I believe that is a necessary element of Christianity even as it causes an element of divisiveness in the body. I also believe that the deeper one's involvement in TWI, the more likely the tendency to distance oneself from being authentic and the deeper one has to go to un(re)cover the authentic self. The irony is that either way, you can't fool God." I tend to agree with the statement above. We did the best we could with what we could understand. But, you should hear my kids version of their time in TWI. They thought it all was so stupid and confining; no real good memories and all are independent thinkers [and questioners] as young adults. They're just glad we left when we did!
  13. I was in Family 13 but left before the first year was over. Too much chaos and confusion, and the Word says, "God is not the author of confusion." Glad to see what a beautiful family you have and that you are doing well.
  14. They were at Rome City Campus on staff in late 1980's when people were getting the loyalty letter from "Loy". Don't know if they stayed in or finally wised up.
  15. "#6) There was no depth in the teachings. Many of the older grads and the Way Corps who had been around for Dr. Wierwille's teachings were actually quite upset and let down...." They've isolated themselves so much that they've lost touch with everything. They have no idea how to serve God or his people. Amazing how corruption shrinks common sense.
  16. I don't think they had any set timeframe for how long they were board members. And yes, they were paid because they were all getting salaries [or PERKS] from TWI. There were no outside board members...just the YES MEN. No women on the board back then as I recall.
  17. I used to compare how much less writing I had done compared to others. Often it seemed that people felt more "spriritual" if they had lots of colors and writing in their bibles. I still have mine...but dumped all other Way materials.
  18. In a nutshell, this is a profound discovery! :D
  19. Is this person in support of the current TWI in Ohio? http://the-way-international.org/default.aspx
  20. What is really sad is that his abuse morphed into abandonment. He left her homeless and penniliess in her elder years. What a legacy. It amazes me that the namesake grandson would even consider starting a new group that copies the old TWI agenda. It seems the next generation is able to edit history!
  21. I'm not sure if that is written in her book. I do remember a poster here on G'spot stating that when they were consoling her at VP's funeral/memorial, this was her reply to him...that VP "was a mean man." I'm sure it's in the archives somewhere...
  22. ..."On the other hand, where else outside of twi would you have found a supposed Christian organization where its founder claimed to have heard from God when he didn't, where he funnelled the money for his creature comforts and his vices, where the progress of genuine Christians (Leonard, the Jesus People) was STRANGLED to strengthen the organization, where its founder required leadership candidates to write a biography which was then used to help select which of them he was going to rape or molest, or where he implied all his doctrines came directly from God while some of them came from conspiracy/rumor mills? All while claiming everyone else walked in error?" This just makes my blood curdle....
  23. Don left his job in Wisconisin as school principal/administrator to head up the Way College of Emporia. They needed his PhD degree to make the school legitimate. He should have been like his two Wierwille sisters---remain outside the fray and raise your families independent of the "family business." When he was away from VPW, he was a very easy going, kind and gentle man. I always saw a look of discomfort in his eyes when his father was around. VP always bullied Don from the time he was a young boy. I think he was bullied into becoming part of the nightmare.
