  1. Wow, what is next? Obese people need not apply---leads to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, or anyone who has more than two drinks at any given time...
  2. Tzaia said; "I really liked the way that TWI drew from seeming parallels in the OT to support its theology, yet ignored any parallels that didn't. STF does the same thing. One only has to listen to DG's latest teaching on tattoos to see that. (I chuckled through the whole thing) The point I'm trying to make is that STF is no less ala carte in picking and choosing what it wants to believe than any other organization. The only reason why it doesn't look like that is the ground rules of engagement are carefully laid out and all beliefs are checked against those ground rules." My gosh, there are so many critical and spiritual issues going on all around us and in the world, and the most in depth study worthy of their time is about TATOOS????? Is this more self-serving "apologetic" in defense of this man's distracting markings on himself?
  3. Reading this thread makes it GLARINGLY apparent that the "man behind the curtain" was a drunken sexual predator who used the Bible as his weapon of abuse and degradation. Because of this, I cannot fathom how the most vocal TWI offshoots believe that the curriculum they continue to teach has any validity at all! VPW never had anyone interests at heart except what served his own belly.
  4. When I got involved with TWI, everyone smoked including VPW. Later it was made mandatory to stop because of the cost. I don't think it had to do with healthy living---it was about having more money to give to "Abundant Sharing"
  5. The listings are for all agents in that area. He had one for about $164,000 and the house was 100 yrs old...I saw a listing for $650,000 but at the bottom it named another agent who had that listing.
  6. JS is not the only one on the board who has had more than one wife; JAL was not the only one on the board who had many women either.
  7. And...I think that program was run by Dr J*&n S---VP's son-in-law. It was a legitimate business outside of TWI.
  8. They easily dismiss such scriptures by virtue of the phony dispensationalism to which they subscribe. In other words, "It ain't written to us folks who are living in the Grace Administration." That is one of the biggest travesties they teach...shame on them
  9. That just sums up why these offshoots are problematic---the leadership character eventually seems to disintegrate to this.
  10. "As a man purposes in his heart so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity, or for God loves a cheerful giver." Yep, and it doesn't say money either. New Living Translation: You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. "For God loves a person who gives cheerfully." New American Standard Translation: Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. International Standard Version: Each of you must give what you have decided in your heart, not with regret or under compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver And, it also doesn't say *to whom*. Maybe I want to give 50% of my talents, time, shoes to my neighbor who has the need---and it is totally up to me, not some preacher directing my path or choice...and certainly not under pressure or compulsion! It's more TWI expounding of truth, because remember---"STF Truth Matters"
  11. The Cortwright page has him listed with email link; Steve Strick - Believer in Dixon, California. strick@dcn.davis.ca.us He was in Dixon CA as of 2008---you might try this.
  12. Many self-help books teach the same thing. I think the newest popular one is called "The Secret"---Oprah was touting that one recently.

wow...I was in Jr High; we were let out of school...many of us went to church before going home. I remember everyone in our house being kind of numb. My dad was a staunch Republican and my mom was a Democrat, but on that day it wasn't about politics. It was about the murder of a young President with very young children. Even my dad cried for him...
  14. not sure what they hadn't hear before,...but the Board made a big deal out of JAL's "sexual" sins.
  15. I heard from a friend that the STF leaders laid out all reasons and events that led to the firing. All of JAL's behaviors from his TWI days up to his current behavior was made plain. It was a shocking revelation to many. As I told her, the root of TWI still remains in all these offshoots; the rotten root and fruit still remains. A rotten tree root cannot be grafted and produce good fruit---period. Ask any farmer!
  16. And---why aren't any of the others included or invited who were unceremoniously dropped or fired, and then a party line description was provided by the STF BOD?
  17. We are all as unique as our fingerprints. So for some, they have to be gently brought up and out from where they came. For others, it's the loud shout that finally helps them to see clearly, whether it is to stay, go away, or go back. The GreaseSpot Cafe has made both extremes available, with all levels on the continuum as well, and that has been a benefit to so many.
  18. If I heard/read it right, this is the weekend that the CES/STF BOD is meeting to tell "the real reasons" they have ousted their founder. After 20 years, it seems that JWS is the last of the original group who formed this org.
  19. Donna Martindale never had a real job since she was about 19. Once she married, she has had indentured servants ever since. Of course she always teaches things about real life of which she has no first hand knowledge. What a witch!!
  20. As I read dmiller's post, the statement was: She didn't even realize I was there until I said "Hello!" (with a smile in my voice). I don't think the idea of being followed even crossed her mind. She just seemed oblivious in general until he asked about JAL.
  21. Now that I think about it, I don't think that the STF group have very many family members who are actively involved either. I think JS kids may be followers but don't see them on the list of active fellowships.
