hmmmmmm... My mac didn't seem to have a problem

I have Macs. Final Cut Pro is definitely great. One thing that makes the mac worth its price is the fact that it does not get about 98% of the viruses and spywares, since most of them are written for windows. It is very cool, too. Granted it has its limitations on availability of software, but it is solid, reliable and the software that it does have is written for the hardware on the machine. A good marriage of hardware and software.

GT, Where did I say they bother me about you ALL the time? There have been cases of it. None recently. I was just giving that as an example since you and Ex both posted on here. And to answer your question in another thread that was about something entirely different. I think showing all the names keeps everything up front. Since doing it the sniping of others has diminished. If you want to be invisible you still can be... I'm not going to tell you how though... you can figure it out though

First of all the "hit" meter is not accurate. I've tested it with a private topic that involved just me and another screen name that I made up. The hit meter went up when I wasn't looking at it. The meter ideally will go up everytime that you or others involved view the topic. So if you go in to check if there is a new post the hits go up by one and the same if another goes in. Since I am the only one that could possibly view the private topics, lay off the moderators. As a matter of fact, I am the only one doing the moderating since the last time you and a few others brought this up. I do have one moderator that is organizing the archives for me and two others that have moderation powers should something happen to me. I do NOT view the private topics, I can but choose not to. They are private in the sense that they are not available for the general public. I said way back when this forum started not to trust the "privacy" of those topics. While I am on the soapbox, the moderators that I DID have left as a result of unfounded accusations and innuendos. I work very hard to make this a fair forum allowing divergent voices to be heard. There are a few that want to just complain instead of being a valuable participant of this forum. I have nothing against constructive criticism, in fact I am in an email debate with one poster right now, defending a particular member's right to post. In fact both you and Ginger Tea have been two of the many that I have defended in the past. In my opinion it is great to disagree, it is so ANTI-way. I take a lot of hits for what I do. I don't always "rightly divide" (yuk) in my decisions, but at the very least I make the decisions. AND... about MODERATION. Most of the posts that go into moderation are a direct result of names being mentioned of people that have requested that their names not be mentioned. (Ex, I had to take down your real name once, to protect your privacy) About three people are on moderation. I just recently took it off one person. One of the other ones consistently attacks victims for no good reason... I won't allow that. Another person has a penchant for swearing incessantly. I don't like to do it, but there are a number of young adults reading these forums and since he doesn't have the ability to control his language, I have to. I hope that answers your question... seaspray, try downloading the latest Mozilla browser and see if that doesn't help http://www.mozilla.org/ It's free and it may solve your problem

seaspray, Netscape can be a bit funky with javascript and the such. There is another poster that can't get GS on explorer and has to use netscape. There are some other browers out there you could try that are very fast... Camino, Opera and Mozilla. Mozilla, I believe, is where netscape developed from. TSRTS, Most of the brand of reasoning is done by me thank you very much. It, for the most part, based on the number of posts that you have made. It is not directed at you individually.

I've made some adjustments to the forum setup and had a tech look at it also. Have you noticed an increase in the speed of the forum as of 4/4/03?

As Zix said call Dell. 2.5 ghz will do you fine 512 megs of RAM 120 gig hard drive (for your music) CD Burner if you are going to do gaming the nifty flat screen thingy might not be for you. They don't do real well with games. Ask for a router, wireless 802.11g with that you will need two wireless devices one for each computer Then get a warranty that will get in house service for your computer. Someone may want to add to this, but you can just read this over the phone and get what you need. Another possibility is to find a local shop that will build it for you.

Don't buy an Intel motherboard. I tried that on my last system and regret it. The acrylic cases are fun to look at but not great. The ones with the acrylic sides but metal everywhere else is probably most practical. You can use neon to embellish it. I've had great luck with the ASUS boards in the past year.

Psalmie, I am about 80 per cent sure this will be the chat room we stick with. I will let you know definitively within a week I am going to be trying one other option this week.

For all the well wishes. Boy do I have a lot of catching up to do!!!

I am having a pleasant journey. My first stop was to visit with Kit Sober. A wonderful time was had. We talked about everything from GS to fruitcakes. She is one of the few gems around. Don't miss a chance to meet her, if you get that chance. I then spent a few very slow days going through Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. The roads were pretty slick. But I made it through and am now on my way to meet with Onegod in Denver. I am having loads of fun....

I am going to be in the Denver area as well as the Chicago area in the next two weeks. If anyone is interested in getting together for a mini GS get together, let me know. I may be going to some other spots too, so stay tuned.
