I just got turned on to her a month or so ago. I bought her album. She is going to be a new standard in Jazz singing. Her new album came out last week and it is just as good. She dips into some country stylings and makes it seem so easy. Very pleasant to listen to often.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Kit Sober

Happy Birthday Kit, Words can't describe how much you are appreciated here. -
I have tried Opera and it was better than IE. I currently am using Camino on my mac and have Mozilla and Firebird in testing. Mozilla.org is doing a lot of things that IE is not doing or even attempting to do. There is some conjecture that Microsoft may drop out of the Browser wars in the near future. Get ready

I have to say that after I was talking with Sudo at the weenie roast, I went on the Atkins and I have lost over 30 pounds. Ditto to what Sudo said about energy too.

Steve, not getting any error messages like that Zix, That seems to be doing the trick. I have network shares to three other computers and when I disconnected them, I haven't had explorer crash. Any registry hacks that would set it to kill slower?

If I open 2 instances of Windows Explorer, within a few seconds the whole screen "blinks" and both instances of Explorer are gone. And if any Microsoft product is open they sometimes close also. Now the strange thing is that this happened on my last computer that had XP on it also -- that became my Linux box. I have up to date Norton. I have run Ad-aware to catch any spyware. This PC box doesn't even have an email client on it, so it doesn't get the normal email bugs and viruses.

I bet you have always wondered what the temperature and weather conditions were at TWI. Well now you can know. TWI Weather [This message was edited by pawtucket on February 06, 2004 at 11:34.]

I JUST SAW A COMMERCIAL FOR THE WAY INTERNATIONAL ON MSNBC!!
pawtucket replied to RottieGrrrl's topic in About The Way
I’ve also talked with an executive who works for Broadcast News Channel, the company that produced the paid advertisement on TWI. He didn’t want his name used but was more than happy to discuss the issue with me (and has spent the better part of the day dealing with it). Apparently, sufficient research about the group was not conducted first. The person I spoke to characterized himself as a "spirit filled " Christian and deeply regrets it. They have put in place some systems to check deeper into any organizations they profile in the future. He also said that they have already contacted Bradshaw and MSNBC about the matter. According to this person, the tape will not be reproduced. He did say that The Way spent 29,000 on the piece. It won’t be aired again. He let me know that he has gotten "deluged" with emails from ex-Way posters, and was clearly not aware of the negative impact the organization has had on people. He has been reading GS and other ex-Way sites today. He told me that something like this will never happen again. I was more than a little impressed with his concern about the matter. Lots of ex-Wayfers were on the ball today. Great to see. I’m sure we’ll be getting more info. ps. They got the message with the emails. IMF, You may not be familiar with MIKE, he is not a troll. Please refrain from calling him names like that. He has been defending the pfal class for a while around her. He is entitled to his opinion as well as you are yours. His non-response is just what it is a non-response. Arguing with him is a stress filled endeavor, not worth resorting to names that don't fit him. (by the way, I think there is a list somewhere of things you can call him.)

Dart, Number 1 I don't have to justify it. The thread was based on property specific information. I believe I said speculation is fine, just not specific information about the location of the property in question. So that thread was closed. If you want to speculate on what it is being used for, go for it. But that area had full time staff working there on or about the time that the property was purchased.

Dart, If I left the text after taking out the link, your post would have looked pretty silly. The link contained enough information to pinpoint the specific address. The deletion had NOTHING to do with the speculation, but you don't want to comprehend that. You are free to speculate to your heart's content about the matter. There is nothing more that meets the eye, Dart. I even explained the reason to the administrator of the site in question. If I owed an explanation to anyone, it would have been him, certainly not you.

insurgent, Thanks, although I said discussion was fine. My ONLY concern was giving enough information that anyone could find the exact address of that home. Just because something is listed in the public record somewhere, doesn't mean it should be broadcast and that is MY opinion. From the information that was originally up on the link, I was able to find the exact address in less than 5 minutes. I trust that the majority of people with that information at hand would deal with it in an honest and upstanding manner. But QQ's example really showed the potential danger of doing that. I have had information come to me on many occasions that revealed the locations of many ex-way leaders, having that information doesn't give me the right to hand it over to the public on this website. What purpose does it serve? The fact that TWI owns a house in Toledo is not, in itself, that significant in my opinion, especially since who lives there is all speculation. Lastly, let me say I am speaking for this site only, I certainly don't want to judge what is and is not allowable on other sites. [This message was edited by pawtucket on February 01, 2004 at 20:37.]

Cherished Child, I closed the thread, that is why there is no reply button. You want to speculate? Speculate. You are making it sound like a bad dime detective novel. I didn't want a thread started by revealing a specific location. That link did that. I don't want that kind of liability on my hands. And it is my understanding that the home was occupied by some local leaders at one point in the late 90's. I have no problem with discussion of TWI having a home and speculating who is in it. I do have a problem giving the location, yes it is a matter of public record but that doesn't mean some thought shouldn't go into publicizing that info.

Chas, I don't want to put any additional pressure on you, but we may be chatted out by the time you finally get in.

Hap, I go in on a regular basis and delete topics that have been inactive for about 4 months. I am a little behind on it right now, because my last two prunings happened the days before access to the forums got screwed up. I will continue after the upgrade is done.

some people have done it. In some cases, it is a matter of someone that hasn't posted in a long time and forgot their screenname. In the cases that I knew of, I sent the old screenname to them. I discourage it. There, of course, have been exceptions. If you need an official answer, then it is no. I have had to give moderators alternate log ons so that they can enjoy posting and have some anonymity.
