What size are the files?

I can't say where it happened. Black Sabbath concert in 72, Alice Cooper 5x in the early 70's; Beck Bogart and Appice in 73 or Pink Floyd any number of times. Maybe it was a machine shop from 77-83. Any and all of those have diminished my hearing enough that I now need hearing aids. I've gotten used to saying, "excuse me"; "could you say that again?" and "huh?" It was gradual. In July, I saw some friends face to face for the first time in a number of years and our contact has been mainly via the internet. The 2nd or 3rd day, they quietly broached the subject of my hearing. They were not used to me saying "huh" and "what" the last time they saw me. So I went and had my hearing checked. And I was sorely deficient in my midrange to high end. And I thought I was just developing a fondness for the bass guitar!! The audiologist said that it was probably a result of working in a machine shop with a constant noise level and the hundred or so concerts didn't help. Earplugs weren't "in" in the 70's. I am very sure that the loss is NOT a result of listening to Takit or Joyful Noise. Anyone else having this dilemna? (And to think, my father said that if I kept listening to THAT music, I would go deaf)

Your best firewall would be to buy a router. They are available from about $40. This will serve as a firewall making your computer a lot safer from attacks. The router will take the brunt of the attacks. Since it is Hardware, it is almost impossible to disable from the outside. (you should make sure to change the password from the default one) Software firewalls are not as effective and can be disabled.

Private Messages -- please copy any private messages that you wish to keep. There is not a place to transfer them. The new forums will have a method of sending messages to a poster's email without giving away the email address.

satori, go into your profile and you have your login name and another field that says display name. If you fill in the display name, it will overwrite the login name.

The new forums do NOT have login name AND display name. Some of you use a different name for login and another for display. If you DON"T want your login name to be your display name, then please change it ASAP. And make sure your email is accurate. We won't be able to carry over the passwords so we will be emailing you a new one.

If you use iTunes, they have podcasts that you can subscribe to for free. Every time you open iTunes, it will check for the latest and download in the background.

The new software has been purchased and the conversion script is being written. We are going to have to email new passwords to everyone (which you can change later) So make sure your email is correct in your profile

Well actually the lag time is being reduced to almost nothing. We will probably close down for a day and be up in the new place the following day. The timetable will be announced in the next week or so.

There are a few that are having problems uploading pics. They seem to do the album part fine. If anyone has the time, could you put the uploading procedure in this thread? I'd like to widen the scope of this, I think it is a good method to deal with photos.

Well I hooked the switch to the router and have both gigabit computers on the same switch so they benefit machine to machine. I find my wireless laptop to be faster also, I think the wireless is finally being used to capacity. That I think is a result of the FIOS not any hardware.
