  1. What Raf FAILS to mention is that his infamous mistake started THE about an hour after I opened the doors of Greasespot Cafe. I was not a happy camper that night. Although I came to appreciate THE, I was unsure that GS's grand opening was timed properly. It consisted of a forum board only. It would take a lot of time to get any where near the information available on Waydale. The light usage of the site for a few months allowed me to think about what I wanted to do. Originally I wanted to have professional counselors on board, to give direction. I spoke with a good friend, an ex-way clergyman, who was a counselor. There were too many variables to do something effective on a forum board. All news still happened at Waydale. I wanted to let people tell their stories. The first to do so was our own Groucho. I set the front page up like a newspaper. "The After Midnight Gazette" Groucho had the first feature story. I'll dig up the code for it and put it up for your enjoyment. And a note on the Christian/NonChristian site. I decided early on that I could not have any affiliations. I felt that the process would be hindered with ties.

    Live Chat

We have installed a new chat room that will eventually replace our current room. Up near the top, you will note that to the right of "Gallery" there is a new button "Live Chat". Go ahead and click it and try the new room out. One feature is that you will not have to log in. It will automatically use your forum screen name. It is designed by the same folks that did our current one, Parachat. This new room is one version behind our old one, but will be updated in the near future. Let me know what you think of it.
  8. Christmas Song I was listening to this tonight and thought that you may enjoy it.
  9. I didn't know that about the names -- that is obscure.
  10. Yes it worked fine. The first thing that I taped with it was Tom Snyder's interview with Lennon from the early 70's
  11. Take Alka Seltzer. Plop Plop Fizz Fizz, Oh what a relief it is. I can't believe I ate the whole thing
  12. Aisle Lovett Rubble I love Trouble?
  13. I haven't heard of this one!! It is in development. If you have a 2nd computer that you are willing to experiment with, then by all means download it and try it. I wouldn't give up your main system just yet. Systems like this or Linux are not as user friendly as Microsoft or Apple. So you need to be prepared for much tedious time to get it to work. But that said, it is much fun to play with a new system that can possibly replace something like Microsoft.
  14. For those fans of John Lennon, iTunes is offering podcasts of the historic interview in Dec 1970 with Lennon by Jann Wenner, founder of Rolling Stone. I've read the interview years ago, this is a treat to hear the audio. The interview is going to released in weekly segments for the next few weeks
  15. Stan Freberg is correct!!! I collect comedy have for decades. I was listening to this the other day and realized, other than the name of the shows, it reflected today's viewpoint.
  16. hiway, You are right, the song was making light of the 57 television series. Now who is the brainchild of the song?
  17. That night I was on my way to buy my first VCR. I had waited until they broke the $800 mark. Well that sunday, there was an ad. I called and had them hold one for me. I had to drive to what was called the inland empire in SoCal. It was a 90 minute drive each way. My radio couldn't reach any good radio stations so I was without radio for about an hour each way. I bought the VCR and headed back. I had turned off the radio because the static was irritating, I never turned it back on. I got home with this heavy VCR in my hands. I was walking through the living room and my wife was telling me about her day. Then as I was putting down the VCR to open the box, she said, "Oh and by the way, John Lennon was murdered about an hour ago". I dropped the VCR. She made some comment like, "Oh well" OH WELL!!!!! I ignored that and went through the channels to find a news report. I was numb. The Way had made us think that people like John Lennon were possessed or seed boys. Well f* em, I was greatly saddened by his loss. His music was part of the soundtrack of my life. "Help" was not just a song, it was a reflection of what I felt. He had a knack of writing songs that had meaning and substance. He was witty, he was perceptive. Fortunately, in the last few years of his life he got to live a very private fulfilling life. Anyway, I listened for the rest of the evening to stories and accolades. It marked the end of the Beatles, in any way form or manner. (although the Threetles did play background for a few of Lennon's demos for the Beatle's Anthology) I was amazed at the attention and outlaying of emotion all over the country and the world. I was equally amazed at the utter stupidity of leaders in The Way in the following days with their offerings to diminish the accomplishments of John Lennon. There was a "New Year's Advance", where I got earfuls of how the devil ran Lennon's life. That advance was the beginning of the end for my time with TWI. How ANYONE could diminish the murder of any person still astonishes me. I am listening to "Because" by the Beatles on the Anthology 3 CD. Those guys could sure harmonize. He left a body of work that we can listen to for many many years to come
  18. I am looking for a few people that have a business and an online presence to test some banner ads. If you would like to participate, email me at pawtucket@greasespotcafe.com. Thanks
  19. Belle, If there is an artist or group that he particularly likes, you could go to ebay and find an autographed photo or Album that he might like
  20. The attempted murder of RC has been mentioned many times. I've never given it much credence since the story was always three or four levels away from an eye witness. I will check some info, though. Ralph, i think, talked about it in the waydale forums. I will try to get an update on Barbara Geer also.
  21. Dante, For dial up that is a-okay. The maximum "ideal" speed that you could get would be 56 kbps down. But you never get what is the ideal
  22. Another thing. Active Gays, for the most part, were not the contingent of priests that were commiting the crimes against children.
