This new site has been a labour of love. I have to thank GreasyTech for his outstanding job. He took the ideas and thoughts that I had for the new site and made it happen. The hours are easily in the hundreds. The design part is a result of the creative minds of my friends Rich and also Pam (known to all of you as pamsandiego) We got together during the weekends over the past 6 or so months and hammered out different concepts until we got one that we felt would work. And to DooWap, Moddishwasher, Modcat5, modaustin, and Kit for their incredible work. Their help has allowed me to think and dream up some of this stuff. And to my many friends and confidantes that have had to endure constant "what do you think about this" comments over the past two years. And to all the members of this community, who make this place happen. All of this is to make your time here beneficial. Your support is marvelous.

Sometime tomorrow, the new main site will be unveiled. Many have been working on it and it is almost ready to go. As part of the unveiling, there will be a brand spanking new episode of GS Radio. (Episode #8 for those keeping score)

You know my great business sense!!!! I think that I actually sold about 4 of my inventory of t-shirts (which was going to be a BIG money maker). It's more fun to give them away.

I like the plastic cup idea. The new logo will be a bit tougher to put on a t-shirt. It will probably need a decal. By the way, the new Main site is going to be ready reallly soon

I am testing this out to see if this can make a little revenue flow. While I appreciate the donations that you all have sent, this might be a way to generate revenue. This is just an experiment. If it seems to affect the experience of the Cafe, I will remove them.

Therebutforgrace, That is one of the best posts in this entire CES section (not to diminish the other fabulous posts) I think we can just send this to the board and go home.

The PM's that were exposed weren't sharings of a personal nature, they were ATTACKS. I think most people know and abide by the ethics of privacy, but this NEW poster decided to make her attacks through PM. And then she would say it was a "discussion". While I didn't publish the emails, she sent me her opinion of the matter and then suggested that we were on the same page, which wasn't true. Done over, I wish the people involved had sent the offending PM's to me or a moderator. But I think the people that did publicly display them would NOT publish the normal PM. This was an extraordinary circumstance in my experience on forums.

And really the person who did all the work with this update is GreasyTech.

one of the biggest things that have changed is clicking on a person's profile. You can set up a "mini MySpace". This new wallpaper will be up until we unveil the new main site, which is done with a few remaining tweaks to be done.

I have deleted the off topic posts. This is too important a discussion to be derailed.

I think that PM's should stay that way. I would only get involved if they get nasty or threatening. I have the PM's for people to contact other posters without giving an email address, it gives an extra layer of anonymity. I have turned off the PM function if I feel it is being abused I don't have any hard and fast rule. As an example, yesterday (which is what I am sure instigated this thread) i got a number of reports of abuse and threats in the PM's. I sent an email to the party originating the PM's and let her know that she no longer could use our PM system. I suggest that if you have an extensive private exchange going and you trust the other individual, then take it up a level to emails back and forth The PM system is not a substitute for email. It is a convenient communication tool within this forum. If you need to have rules for PM, I would apply the rules of the forum.

I have taken the documents that we currently have and put links to them in CC's post. I would strongly suggest that you copy these documents, I don't know how long they will be up on the server.
