  1. You must have missed my question at the beginning of the interview, we were discussing what led up to the publishing of the 37 page letter. Had the interview been about Jesus Christ, I am sure he would have addressed that. I generally stay away from people's belief systems. This interview was designed to get another view of those years shortly after VP's death. We've heard the company spin, now we hear it from someone that was there and someone I respect. We weren't focused on the "spiritual" aspect as much as the physical events. I think the physical events speak volumes to the spiritual condition at that time. As a side note, we thought about whether to make this interview public. While it is about events from 20 years ago, it was still relevant today, filling in the gaps from that time for many people. I know that when I heard this information for the first time, it cleared up a lot of questions. (like I thought it was just me)

I think downtown New Knoxville would be the perfect spot
  3. I've just been informed that it will be around 11 pm
  4. We are upgrading the server with some RAM. It should only be down for about 20 minutes.
  5. Looking back is a good thing to do, if for nothing else, to put things in perspective. That era from 1985-1987 was a very confusing time for a great many people. Once you have the back story, much of the confusion melts away. It's not a pretty picture. It does make clear that a number of people had an agenda. For me, the fact that the adultery paper was attacked uniformly by ALL the major players speaks volumes. Geer and Martindale were at odds on most things, but they were one voice on the adultery paper. To support the adultery paper, they would be opening up their closet full of skeletons. They couldn't do that. Their precious organization would crumble before them. When I first heard about this stuff, I was devastated. I remember the meeting with John Lynn and a number of women stood up that had fallen victim at the hands of these "Leaders" I didn't want to believe it. I had put my trust and my spiritual wellbeing in this organization. Of course, it broke our trust in God. So many people abandoned having God in their lives in any way, form or manner. The Way was turning people against God! Forget the abuse and destruction to the individual, they got folks to not trust or believe in God. That's big!! Hopefully the details in the interview will show people that this was a systemic problem with an organization and not a problem with God.
  6. Socks, It was face to face. The audio was giving me some problems, which is why the volume increases as it goes along. Maybe I'll ask more than one question the next time.
  7. Here is the 37 page letter that was mentioned in the podcast. click here And here is John Lynn's letter from 1988. click here

I have no problem with that. Although they can listen from the front page and not have to come into the forums.

Jim, I corrected my post. The podcast that is up is the whole interview. I was going to put it up in two parts and decided after editing that I would keep the whole thing together. Sorry for the confusion.
  10. For the 8th anniversary of GS cafe, I have a very special guest. He was the third trunk coordinator of The Way International during the biggest expansion of The Way. He also served as a Corps Coordinator. We talk about the last days in the life of VP Wierwille. And then through the reading of the Passing of the Patriarch onto the events that led to the 37 page letter sent to the Board of Trustees in early 1987. The Interview

On April 21st, GreaseSpot Cafe will celebrate it's 8th Anniversary. It quietly opened it's doors in the shadow of Waydale, which was still running strong. The first year was very expermental and relatively quiet. The posts that we now get in an hour were what we got in a week back then. By the 1st anniversary, It was a full fledged site. More than a forum, it had a document section and life looked good for GS. Over the years, we have shared, argued, hugged, pushed and survived. The journey has not always been a smooth one, but no one ever said it would be. I, personally, have had loved most of the journey. But there have been times that I wanted to stop doing it. Inevitably, someone would email me thanking me for the site, telling me about their journey to freedom. Those stories are the ones that I cling to and look at everytime that I want to pull the plug I've met many people and forged lifetime friendships. I know all too many people by their screennames only and when I see them in real life, I tend to call them by that than their real names. I've made many mistakes and will continue to do so. I always try to make this place a reasonably sane place to post and share. As in any community, we have a mix of people and each adds their own bit to the mix. I have been considering the future of GS. How long can I do it? I don't know. I have mixed feelings between the good that the site does and my personal life and it's goals. I have looked very closely and realize that I have things in my life that I want to accomplish. At times, the two seem at cross purposes. And then someone comes along and points out this or that and it energizes me until the next examination of the soul. I will be honest, I did seriously consider closing, but I have to think outside of my own needs on this matter. I will commit to another year. And, God willing, I will attain some of my personal goals to energize me to go longer. I think that GS is still serving a vital purpose. On the brighter side, I've been holding a podcast in my back pocket for about a month. I've been chomping at the bit to put it out. It is finally ready. I won't tell you anything more, but this one is a doozie. I should have the podcast up sometime this evening. I would be remiss to not thank the many that work behind the scenes. The moderators and techie guy really keep this boat afloat. And the number of you that I call at all hours and you still answer with caller ID!!! All I can say is thanks. So tip a mug or a glass to the 8th Anniversary of Greasespot Cafe!!

  17. Hi there, Have you read the article by Dr. John Juedes on the believing that the Way taught? It is an insightful article http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/editor...god-needed.html

    Amazon

Here is a mockup store. Linking on any of these books will add a code. During your session at amazon, it should count all that you do and give GS a commission

    Great article. Truly humble man.

    Amazon

If you do a search in the box above, that will put a code in your session to give GS a commission. Anything that you buy will be included.

Chas, The percentage varies. If you download music or movies, it is about 10% But overall, it is about 4%. When you search for something that entire "session" is eligible. So if you search for a Rory Gallagher CD and put that in your shopping cart and then continue all the other items are eligible. If you close the window prior to buying and then go back on your own, I think only the original CD gives GS credit. (by the way, the Rory Gallagher CD to get is Deuce!!!)

    Plagarism !?

Jeff, Your questions are valid and important. I have seen early editions of Receiving the Holy Spirit and compared them with Stiles Book and paragraphs and pages are word for word. The same for PFAL with a Bullinger. Heck, Maggie Muggins and Johnny Jump Up are characters in Leonard's class!!!! I found it a hard pill to swallow, but Wierwille stole a large portion of what we were taught. He could have just sold Stiles and Leonard's book and taught from them, that would have been the honest thing to do! Dr. John Juedes has delved heavily into this matter and others. Check him out, you should get multiple points of view. I've spoken with a member of the Way's own research team that said he had copied many things

    Amazon

Yes that is actually live. I bought something today.
