Just browsing the assorted responses here, it becomes clear that, like anything else, different things work for different people. I have a VERY, VERY big yard and mowing does it for me. Whether I'm riding, pushing, using my old manual push mower or pulling my brush hog, I "get it all out" while mowing...or most any kind of yard/outdoor work. My maintained yard has gone from 1/3 acre to a full three acres from reading the posts in the "About The Way" forum and learning all the stuff that was REALLY going on in TWI while I was happily, vapidly and unknowingly saying "God Bless you" and praising the virtues of VPW and his "class" to others back in the day. Thanks Paw, Groucho, DWBH et al! You guys have opened my eyes. SERIOUSLY! Working out with weights is also very effective for me. I've gone from 30 curls at 50 lbs to 200 curls at 90 lbs per day just from reading Rocky's posts in the politics forum. Thanks, Rocky!! Maybe this election year, they'll suspend the election and let you and me arm wrestle to decide the next POTUS. Ya think? My third favorite is target practice with firearms. I mostly use my muzzleloader for that because it's loud and belches a lot of flame and smoke, is great catharsis and relatively inepensive to play with. That's reserved for special occasions like when I do a job and have a hard time getting paid.

My highest was "8", leader and next highest was "5", thinker. The rest were negative numbers. Does this thing really mean anything?

I've been heating with wood for about 17 years, now. I just have a big airtight wood stove in the middle of the house with some fans to circulate the warm air. I can usually keep the house about 50 degrees above the ambient temp, which can be a little chilly when it gets REALLY cold outside. My costs are about three gallons of gas, 2 cycle oil and bar oil for my chaninsaw. Comes to about $35 a year, now. Sometimes I get lazy or too busy with other stuff and gave to buy it. It runs about $30 per "rick" (nobody seems to agree on exactly what a "rick" is, but generally, it's about a full size pickup load) these days Although Confucious was right when he said "Man who cuts own firewood heats self twice", there's a downside in that the house gets really dusty and messy and sometimes smokey. It does keep the house smelling nice and it's a great workout. I'll probably continue with it for several years to come.

One of the many things I've done is to eliminate sugar as much as humanly possible from my diet. I now consume cayenne (capsicum) in the same volume most people use sugar. I've replaced black pepper with cayenne and grow it in my garden, using it in or on EVERYTHING. Cayenne is a wonderful herb. Not only does it help control BP, it helps purify the blood, helps reduce inflammation and even helps heal wounds. I keep some handy in my backpack and sprinkle it in my socks (sparingly) on extremely cold days as it keeps the feet warm. I also take a niacin supplement which keeps me well circulated. My cardiologist is somewhat dismayed by all this as he doesn't really understand it all, but he's taken me off all my cardio meds (Verapamil, coumadin, lanoxin, beta blockers and some other stuff I don't recall) except for the Lasix which I still need for chronic congestive heart failure. He just tells me whatever I'm doing, keep on doing it. I don't know that I've ever had an actual myocardial infarction as I was born with a congenital birth defect in my heart which was first diagnosed when I was 18 and led to some serious episodes starting when I was 27. When in college, I joined the USMC Platoon Leader Corps which is the Marines equivalent of ROTC. My second physical examination resulted in a years worth of testing and subsequently getting kicked out, a draft status of 4F and a note saying I should go AFTER the women and children. I now have a pacemaker and one deceased heart chamber and regurgitating valve which accounts for the chronic congestive heart failure. Anyway, cayenne or capsicum is God's own wonder drug!

I'm not sure that when Rottiegrrrl began this thread she necessarily meant songs that made you cry in tortured pain. Maybe you should start a new thread, "Songs that make me cringe" or "songs that make me yawn". Then we can add The Singing Ladies of the Way.

I don't know or care anything about a fish hook. It doesn't really matter save to say we were all BS'd. That pretty much sums it up for me. George, I don't think it's necessarily so, but yeah, I agree...it would most certainly be poetic justice. Who knows, maybe old perverts have an unusally high sensitivity to bright lights. I do recall hearing in TWI many times over how the cockroaches would scatter when the light was turned on. Maybe VP's demise was illustrative of why. For the record, although I was never particularly a VP fan or apologist, I was kinda indifferent to the whole thing, mostly thinking him an eccentric old buffoon that had lost his way somewhere down the line, UNTIL I read Groucho's post about what VP said regarding his daughters and their nipples. When that was corroborated by other posters, that "tore the sheet" for me. Thanks Groucho et al! Ya done me a service! Does anyone know why my previous post appears twice here?
