  1. Put a banana in the bag with the tomatoes and that will improve the process. Bananas give off a gas that speeds ripening and is the source of the gas BrideofJC was referring to.
  2. I didn't comment on the first post since I couldn't really see the spiral movement in that little box with the red x, but now I see it. The bottom figure in that sculpture is a little disturbing as it's apparent position with it's back to the viewer makes the position of the arm impossible. I need to see another angle. The texture of the second sculpture is really remarkable. Both do capture the emotion of the moment and that, more than the composition and the texture is what makes them masterworks. Great post!

  4. Without venturing an opinion one way or the other...mostly because I don't actually have one, why is it that todays Eastern European women are, by and large, rejecting all this and seeking more traditional lifestyles of mothering, being wives and maintaining a "cozy home"? Which attitude is more "progressive"?
  5. Are you taking to ME? I wouldn't presume to make anyone do anything against their will. All I can do is what I choose for me and how I train my son. Sorry bud, go read some Margo, I'm sure she'll carry your torch.
  6. WOW, Kimberly. that's MUCH too radical an idea. Then the abysmally ignorant Margo, Oprah et al would actually have to go to work for a living, not to mention the entire pop culture being turned on it's head. I think BOJC has a good handle on what Margo is all about. I didn't know Margo even existed until this thread. I don't think I've missed anything. I also think the "happy Icelander" thing is crap. I hear it gets cold there, so they need to serve up a big steaming pile of warm crap to stay warm.
  7. Technically, you're right. However, the state interjects it's "official sanctioned" belief systems into state supported public schools for indoctrination of the young, among other things like tax benefits etc. I, personally, don't really care about "gay" marriage. It can't hurt me or anyone else and I don't believe God is going to hold anyone accountable for the actions of others. People are going to do what they're going to do with or without state sanctions. People just need to accept that, but few do, it seems, and they contend among themselves to use the coersive power of the state to promote or ban whatever cultural thing they either like or dislike. The state, along with the people, needs to adopt the Wiccan Rede that goes something like this... "An thou harm none, do what thou wilt be the whole of the law." Maybe that's not exactly accurate, but it gets the point across. People should do whatever the hell they want to as long as they don't hurt anyone else in the process. Can you imagine a law office with just THAT in the library? Of course, such a concept would be untenable as it would put the lawyers, libtards, neocons, vegans, preachers, socialists, fundies, social activists and most politicians out of business, leaving people to seek their own destinies as they see fit.
  8. ((((((((((((WASCAL)))))))))))))))) Happy birthday!!
  9. It's all the fault of Bush and the greedy oil companies. Obama seeks Jovian hope and change http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap080523.html
  10. Spoken like a true libTARD! Why is Buchanan any more a thug than Obama, HITLERy or even YOU, for that matter? Why is their predjudice or your predjudice any more valid than his? There is NOTHING on God's green earth more intolerant than an American liberal, and you just proved that with your statement. You need to consider where YOU went wrong.
  11. Rottie... I always enjoy your jokes and this one was REALLY, REALLY lame deserving 4 crutches. Rumrunner's joke, however, almost went of the lame scale and deserves a FULL 5 CRUTCHES! Don't let this small defeat stop you from posting your jokes, tho...4 crutches is quite a good accomplishment which few can achieve. Rummy may have just gotten lucky on this 'un.
  12. ISAAC!!! 56?? Is that all? I'm oldern that and cut my firewood, till my garden and all that stuff and still have time left over to take sexy and alluring portraits of lovely ladies like this one...
  13. http://www.islandguardian.com/archives/00001878.html 03/17/2008: "Eco-Terrorism On Orcas" ”I did it to punish the rich white people of Orcas Island and make them pay for the death of the whales and the depletion of the rain forests” -Mondragon Gabriel Thomas Mondragon, 29 years old, who recently arrived from New Mexico, explained to Sheriff’s Deputies that in an attempt to make the people on Orcas “suffer just like the whales and trees”, he attempted to use a tree limbing saw -on a metal pole- to cut through a 69,000 volt power line. According to the sheriff’s report, the man, identified as Gabriel Mondragon, also stated he wanted to protest “the death of Luna the whale and the destruction of the rain forest.” Being well informed on the power of high voltage power lines, Mondragon cleverly put on several pair of latex dish washing gloves to isolate him from electrocution, and proceeded to touch saw to power line. Mondragon was found laying on his back some distance from the line, his pants had been on fire, where they had burned away from his hips down. His gloves had partially melted, and he had “first, second and third degree burns’ on various parts of his body. He was, in short, lucky to be alive. He now has some medical and legal problems to deal with, including some interest in his actions by the FBI. An OPALCO lineman who responded to the outage was on site at the substation within twenty minutes and called the sheriff’s office for an aid car. The sheriff’s office and fire department arrived with aid within ten minutes. The substation is surrounded by a barbwire topped fence, so Mondragon first tried to reach the power line by standing on a ladder. When that failed to get him close enough to be electrocuted, he went over the fence, and was then was able to reach a power line. Thousands of people on parts of Orcas and Shaw only experienced a temporary loss of electrical power as a result Mondragon’s action, while Mondragon was flow off to Harborview Hospital in Seattle via AirLift Northwest, for treatment of what are being called serious injuries.. The incident has been reported to the FBI, and Sheriff Bill Cumming said County Prosecutor Randy Gaylord will determine what, if any, charges may be pending, but at the least he may be charged with trespass. Gaylord said he would review the on-scene reports prior to making a determination of what appropriate charges may be. OPALCO General Manager Randy Cornelius said he was required to notify the FBI of the incident, but that he had no information on any of the specifics of the case. Cumming said because the crime involved a utility, the FBI has jurisdiction to enter the case. Given Mondragon’s statements, it seems likely he may also face additional charges related to “eco-terrorism”. The FBI defines eco-terrorism as “acts of violence in protest of harm to animals or to the environment, ” and it “is the United States' No.1 terrorism threat from inside its own borders.” The County Council met this morning for their normal Monday morning work session, and Councilman Bob Myhr, who also is a siting board member of OPALCO, briefed the Council on the incident. Chairman Howard Rosenfeld said he was sure the OPALCO facilities are “not hardened against this type of thing, and never will be; so we need to stop alienating our own people.” “This tragic incident underlines the importance of public education about the dangers of power lines and electrical safety, “ stated OPALCO General Manager, Randy Cornelius. “I’m proud of how quickly and efficiently our linemen and emergency services responded; I’m grateful for the professionalism of the law enforcement and fire service personnel who responded and took control of the scene—and am thankful that no lives were lost. Our thoughts are with the family of the young man that was injured.” Power was restored to most of the island by 11:30 p.m. Some areas were without power until noon Sunday. OPALCO is a member-owned cooperative electrical utility serving more than 10,000 islanders in San Juan County. OPALCO provides mostly renewable electricity that is 97% greenhouse-gas free and is predominately generated by hydro-electric plants.
  14. Okay, the poor benighted people are far too irresponsible to live our lives without the benefit of our benevolent and all wise bureaucratic overseers. We mustn't have the 'irresponsible' sheepies bleating when the wolves come to devour their young.
  15. He, she, or in Barber's case, it who controls language controls thinking. All politically correct speech protocols (cultural Marxism) and "hate" speech rules and laws are designed to control the thinking of the people and ultimately society as a whole. Evidently, not many libtards or neocons ever read Orwell...or if they did, it went over their heads. You'd think ex Way people would be keenly aware of that since language is such an important part of control, every cult has it's own nomenclature, phraseology and rhetoric. TWI was certainly no different. It had it's share of unique catch phrases and esoterica with the intent to control the thinking patterns of it's adherents while giving us the illusion of having unique and esoteric knowledge, when in truth, we had nothing. This is an example of the state, as the ultimate cult, oppressing the people by disallowing free speech/free thought and now codifying it into law. It's all about control and shaping society by shaping peoples thinking patterns. this is just one of many reasons why the state has no business dictating terms to or for either side of this issue and staying out of the marriage business...as well as anything else concerning the individual's private choices.
  16. Hi Lorraine. Nice meeting you in chat and hope to talk with you more.

  17. "...government should not be in the role of sanctioning ANY relationships, but then it would have to do away with any tax relief (if there is any) and do away with the current structure of SS benefits given to the surviving spouse...." Not necessarily if the state is forced to recognize or acknowledge what the people sanction themselves. The people shouldn't seek permission (license) or legitimacy from the state to do what is a natural right. The state should merely acknowledge what the people decide to sanction to themselves, and administer such programs accordingly.
  18. This is great narration and perfect at forming emotion although a bit disquieting to read...which means it did it's job well. Good work...keep it up!
  19. It's interesting and very telling what the responses to my little post were. Quite accurate, too. These were perceptive replies. I just wonder how differently the Declaration of Independence and subsequent Constitution would have been worded had Jefferson, Washington, Franklin etc. been indoctrinated and reared by King George's state funded and standardized systems (village) like the state uses today. When the state presumes to manage the private lives of citizens and their progeny like that, whether it legitimizes "gay" marriage or deligitimizes it by codification, it's TYRANNY. The people of California voted to delegitimize "gay" marriage and the court overturned that. We have a dillemma where the coersive power of the state is being invoked to force one side or the other. The ultimate evil here is NOT "gay" marriage, nor is it the will of the people. It's the coersive power of the state.
  20. Rottiegrrrl... I cut and pasted your joke into another forum I frequent, although I didn't mention you as the author (the joke IS very, very old). I thought you might enjoy the responses... http://www.subguns.com/boards/sword.cgi?read=1014087
  21. I thought this horse was dead, but it seems everyone feels a need to beat on it anyway. I think most everyone is missing the real point here. Why must the state confer or withhold legitimacy to a practice that people have engaged in for thousands of years before the existence of the state and will continue for generations and generations after that state has fallen? Why should the state have control over that which people do anyway? In a condition of total anarchy, people would pair off into exclusive unions and laisons and be happy with their choices, living their lives well without harming others. Why does the state confer licenses to ANY marriage? Why is that necessary? Why should the state have anything to do with how private, individual citizens conduct their private, individual affairs? Why is the state in the marriage business in the first place?
  22. Why make fake octopi when the real thing is so nutritious and delicious. An kid's love 'em...
  23. Many of these show no direct correlation between the adherants beliefs and the calamity they supposedly suffered. It also conveniently omits such superstitions as the laughable 'sensible gun control/registration will make you safer/reduce crime' myth, the global warming religion, government sponsored 'universal health care' and the ever fatal notion that governemt bureaucrats know what's best for raising and educating children.
