I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless man who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner. I took out my wallet, extracted ten dollars and asked,"If I give you this money, will you buy some beer with it instead of dinner?" "No, I had to stop drinking years ago," the homeless man replied. "Will you use it to go fishing instead of buying food?" I asked. "No, I don't waste time fishing," the homeless man said.."I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive." "Will you spend this on hunting equipment?" I asked. "Are you NUTS!" replied the homeless man. "I haven't gone hunting in 20 years!" "Well," I said, "I'm not going to give you money. Instead, I'm going to take you home for a shower and a terrific dinner cooked by my wife." The homeless man was astounded. "Won't your wife be furious with you for doing that? I replied, "Don't worry about that. It's important for her to see what a man looks like after he has given up drinking, fishing and hunting."

Kofi Annan? That is the African word meaning "sphincter".

Thanks. Maybe one day I will get a copy of that book of VP's famous one line quotes and submit it to "Mythbusters". But it probably is not worth my time.
-
I remember a one liner that was attributed to VPW, but have no idea where it may or may not have originated, but it went something like this... A man whose mind was changed against his will is of the same opinion still. It seems relevant to this thread and I even agree whole heartedly with Garth on this.

I thought it was just Americans that were going around "feeling offended" at every imagined slight. Thanks to "political correctness", our once treasured concept of free speech is down the toilet.

Я клянусь в верности флагу Соединенных Штатов Америки и республике, которую он стоит. Одна нация под Богом, со свободой и справедливостью для всех. How does this work for ol' Pat? or this... Prometo lealtad a la bandera de los Estados Unidos de América ya la República que representa. Una nación, bajo Dios, con libertad y justicia para todos. maybe this... Sequebatur spondeo et vexillum Civitatum Americae rempublicam quibus substat. Gens sub Deo et iustitia in libertate.

Hey Galen! I have not seem you in a long time. Anyway, a lot of it depends on who you are. If you are a Christian home schooler, you are vile. If you are a slutty feminist like Lena Dunham, it is perfectly acceptable and wholesome.
-
When you say 'the Duggers are vile" the inplication is that ALL Duggers are vile. Is that 'all without exception or all without distinction'? Do you feel the girls are vile? Do you think the small children are vile? I personally find it abhorrent to condemn an entire family for what a few individuals did, but because of the hate and oppressive atmosphere for Christians that characterizes our culture today, I suppose it is to be expected. I will continue to judge for myself those things that presume to know what is best for my life and dictates terms to me, but I will not judge those of whom I know nothing. I am certain you will continue judging all and sundry that dare not fall into your preconceived notions because it is that voodoo that you do so well.

I have never seen the program and do not know much about it. I am not much of a teevee watcher and even had to ask who Kim Kardashian is/was. I do not watch that duck hunt show or Oprah, either. I am not qualified to judge them, their character, their lives or anything else concerning them as you seem to be.

Why do you think they are 'vile'?

I thought they bought a HAL 9000.

Photo by Ron G Accident claims Austin man At approximately 3:35 p.m. on Friday, September 12, Marshall and Leslie First Responders were called to the scene of a 3 vehicle accident that claimed the life of 23 year old Steven Patrick Shepard of Austin, Arkansas. According to a report issued by the Arkansas State Police, Shepard, who was driving a 2003 Honda Accord was southbound on Hwy. 65 approximately 2.4 miles south of Marshall when a northbound 2000 Ford truck driven by 45 year old Richard Treadwell of Marshall crossed over the center line, striking the southbound Shepard, who was then struck by a northbound 2007 GMC truck driven by 20 year old Austin Clagett of Harrison, AR. Clagett and Treadwell were uninjured. Shepard’s body was taken to Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall. Road conditions were dry at the time of the accident. The accident was investigated by Arkansas State Trooper Buster Rinks. This was especially difficult to cover because the guy was not acting irresponsibly, the accident was no fault of his, he was only a 2 years older than Andrew and he was returning home from college for the weekend. :(/>/>

That says it all and it is as it should be. We are all individuals. All our journeys are personal and our own. It does not diminish my opinion of you nor would it cause me to lose respect. You do still have to obey your AP style book, though. :)/>

Step 1 Get a hammer Step 2 Put the mint in a bag Step 3 Take the bag in one hand and the hammer in the other, and proceed to make it into bite sized mints.

I wouldn't know if it was a prank or not. I just thought it was kind of funny. We do know that WOWmobiles don't grow on trees.

Friends, I’ve received many remarkable nature photographs over the years but this photo of a nesting Falcon is perhaps the most remarkable Nature shot that I’ve ever seen. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Nature is truly breath-taking!

I have a kinfolk that got into a bunch of trouble for much the same reasons as Texas Tech head coach last year. He resigned in Sept 2012. He was probably a better coach than I would have been since I don't know ANYTHING about basketball and don't care for it. I thought it was just hot temper that seems to be a family trait (except for me, of course) but he did go off the deep end from time to time...or so I've heard. During my very short lived athletic career, I never encountered a kind, gentle coach, but political correctness, being what it is, is causing the demise of competition and the pussification of sports in general.
