Theories on Victor Paul Wierwille’s Spirituallity
ex10 replied to sirguessalot's topic in About The Way
It occurs to me, that maybe the worst kind of evil that exists, started off good. (Star Wars theme playing in the background) :)--> -
VPW's teaching about Jesus and who he was/is was ambiguous at best. Bad mistake for a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. :(-->

Ya know what's funny? This thread is about kissing way leadership's behind. (sorry, I don't cuss.) But I remember a time when hubby and me were considered "way leadership," and we kissed everybody else's behind. :)--> "Everybody else" being the people in our branch/terrritory. We worked our butts off to help people and be good "twig leaders." Dang, when did it change? When did the "leaders" on the field get to be so high and mighty? Just a question..... :)-->

Theories on Victor Paul Wierwille’s Spirituallity
ex10 replied to sirguessalot's topic in About The Way
This thread is very interesting. I guess it's easy for those who didn't know VP, to paint him as a total villian. For those of us who knew him, and were the recipients of his kindness, and his insight, it's way more complicated. Yeah, he was horrible, and yeah, he was so kind and generous. It's just one of those paradoxes that I (and many others, maybe) will spend the rest of our lives trying to figure out. If we care enuff. :)--> I am in no way a VP apologist, yet, he did some good that can't really be explained in light of all the bad crap he did. Sir guess tried to reason through it. Hats off to him! Peace. -
ok, since it's gonna be Cancun.... If your beloved is wondering whether or not she can still wear a two-piece, tell her to go for it. Just be sure and slather on the sunscreen. ;)-->

Have you considered Cozumel? Tis much more laid back than Cancun, and the scuba diving and snorkeling is some of the best in the world. It's a whole different experience from Cancun. A little more Carribbean in flavor, and less Mexican. And you can still take the ferry over to see Mayan ruins, etc. Cancun has some problems that Cozumel seems to have happily escaped.... :)--> My experience is that you go to Cancun once, and then never go back. Cozumel is a place that can be revisited time and time again...

hmmmm my top 3: Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (100%) Orthodox Quaker (93%) Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (91%) Definitely Christian. I suppose that's good. :)-->

rumor control here. I know Bob. He is not ex-way. Sorry to disappoint anybody. :)--> He is still very much a Christian. :)--> :)--> :)-->

Been to the place here in Houston as well. It was good, but ya gotta remember, Houston is in the heart of cow heaven. Lotza competition here. ;)-->

Crud Mr. P. Barnes and Noble in The Woodlands is a major teen-age hangout. Thanks for the heads up. By the way, so is Starbucks in Panter Creek. If I cussed, I think I'd be using major cuss words here.

I don't watch tv. Not even Oprah, which my comrades at work live and die by. On the rare occassion that I turn on the tv, I watch C-span. Does this qualify me for geekdom? --> I don't read anymore unless I have to. But that just comes from having three teenagers. ;)-->

And I hate that, Trefor. I absolutely hate the fact that gay people are doomed before they even start with Christians. Get me on my soapbox.....
-
trefor, you bring up such an excellent point. I don't want my daughter to reject Christianity because she can't reconcile what she believes with what she lives. And it would be a total shame, for her gay friends to feel that Christianity rejects them.

radar, Sid and Cass have been out for a way long time. Late 80's, early 90's I think. As far as I know, they still live in K-Zoo where Sid owns his own business. Don't know about Rob and Denise.
-
well, said, Long gone. As far as I can see, being a christian, I will be judged someday by the way I treat others.

outofdafog, No need to apologize dear. It's good to hear the parent's perspective. Hopefully, it'll make me a much more compassionate person. :)-->

So Jerry, how do you treat homosexuals that you come in contact with, or have to work with? What do you do, or would you do if your kids had gay friends at school that they have to work with and spend time with because of common interests? Ok, so God disapproves. Do you think that because of that, homosexuals are less deserving of respect, kindness, consideration? I'm not trying to put you on the spot, just wondering how you live your strongly held beliefs in everyday life. You don't have to answer if you don't want to....
-
Oi vey Whether one has religious issues with homosexuality was not the point of me starting this thread. Geeeze, of course most Christians, and alot of other people as well have issues. So? I wanted to get into a discussion about how to treat people with kindness and respect, despite one's religious persuasion, and how to get along in society with those who beliefs and practices differ from our own. And how do we teach our kids this? Naive me.
-
good luck, cindy. I hope and pray you have a wonderful time with your kiddos, that they remember forever.
-
The smell that most reminds me of my waydaze, is saurkraut and sausage cooking......
-
Cindy! As Linda said, the bongo drums are a must. But I think if you get into black lights and psychadelic stuff, you are crossing genres. If it were me, I would keep it simple. One of those tall, round, wooden stools would work for the students to sit on as they recite. An acoustic guitar, too. Remember folk music was the thing before rock. I think you are thinking more Doby Gillis than Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.....
-
sigh..... I am not a Wierwille apologist by any means. I agree with George's "duh" statement. I think for the sake of those of us who experienced his "benevolence," the discussion needs to deepen a little. Sorry if I offended anyone, especially my dearest sisex. I think sometimes for the sake of deepening a discussion, it's neccessary to bring up other sides of an issue. ;)-->

Johnny my friend. I do have my mind made up when it comes to doctrine. And I also have my mind made up when it comes to practical living. It's teaching my kids how to reconcile the two things that perplexes me, and them. Yeah, we are on the same page, I think? I guess I just figure that there are some things I don't have totally figured out, and if I don't figure on having them figured out, then I stay humble. And in the end, things will figure themselves out. and if I've figured wrong, then the supreme figurer outer will figure it all out in the end. :D--> By the way, I do read your posts. -->

Thanks guys, for the kind words and encouragement. :)--> I must say, I've had a very stressful week at work. My boss, who happens to be gay, came to my rescue more than once, in just the past couple of days. He is a fabulous boss, a wise manager, an awesome designer, who is very generous with his time and talent. My feeling is that I'm a better human, and definitely a better designer for knowing and working with him. I just can't buy into the judgmental, cut yourself off from those who make different choices than I would, mindset. People are complicated, and I can't justify prejudice because of someone's "sexual orientation." I don't want to raise my kids that way either. sigh......
