What's January or February lookin like? J got home from work, and I showed him this thread, and he said, "ok let's go after the holiday madness is over with...." I am so there....checkin out hotels as we speak... ;)

Wouldn't that be a blast, polar bear? You and J especially, considerin the instuments you play, would get lost in the jazz and the blues there. ;) And your lovely missus and I could gab forever, I'm sure. The good thing is, that flights and hotels are pretty inexpensive right now, as they are really trying to bring us tourists back in. Hey, maybe we could even twist Evan's arm and get him to drive over?
  4. Omigosh, I knew Lou very well, and he is a dear, dear man. God Bless Him.

    Desserts

Wow, thanks Twinky. I'm supposed to bring dessert to my brother's house for Thanksgiving on Thurdsay. So in addition to the usual apple, pecan, and pumpkin pies, I'll add sticky toffee pudding as well. Can't wait to see how it goes over!

Thanks, Evan. I would so love to have a getaway week-end with my dearly beloved, and the "live music aplenty" will certainly entice him. And I confess to having a desire to support the local economy with our tourist dollars, as well. ;)

While you're at it, Twinky, could you sniff around for a Shepherd's Pie recipe? Can't find a decent one here that uses lamb. Seems us Americans, Texans especially, are fixated on beef. I spose we should meet down in the kitchen. I've got my apron on.......

  18. Krys, I have a quick easy way to make it. I just put a bag of split peas in the crock pot, along with some Liptons Oinion soup mix, whatever amount of water is needed and stray veggies I have hanging out in the fridge: celery, oinions, carrots. Really easy, and oh so tasty.
