Heaven goes by favor; if it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in. If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything. I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. Let us be thankful for fools; but for them the rest of us could not succeed. The human race consists of the dangerously insane and such as are not. The holy passion of friendship is so sweet and so steady and loyal and enduring a nature that it will last through a whole lifetime, if not asked to lend money. He has been a doctor for a year now and has had two patients-no three; I attended their funerals. His money is twice tainted; 'taint yours and 'taint mine. Man was made at the end of the week's work when God was tired.

I just watched Talk Soup on TV, what a laugh, twi finally got the attention and notority they deserve! I wonder how the talking heads at HQ are gonna spin this one! Especially the gay remarks and the white men can't dance or bust a move snarky comments!! LOL!!! Little ole twi is in a serious time warp, nothing has changed since the 80's!!!! They're still wearing the same unhip clothes and performing the same dry uninspired over scripted choreography and moldy songs as when king Okie was in charge. They seem to be like that M Night Shyamalan movie, "The Village", where the people intentionally closed themselves off to the outside world so they wouldn't be contaminated by the currect societal ills? So closed off and unaware of what life is like outside of the camp. They are clueless......

Still stumped, if anyone else comes up with it first, by all means post the answer!!

Geisha, great apple bread recipe too! Since you're looking for more apple recipes, I have a great apple cake recipe somewhere, I'll have to dig it out and post it later...I did find an Apple Chutney recipe that my family has used for 2 generations. You can use it as a side sauce for pork, curries, turkey, or chicken or on a turkey sandwich or spread on brie or any cheese on a cracker. It's great with fall and winter foods, it also has been used as a replacement for jam on peanut butter sandwiches by some of my relatives! You can tweak the recipe easily toward your own palate by making it spicier, sweeter, or by adding more fruits like pear, cranberry, nectarines, peaches, etc., tart apples are better to use, but sweet apples are just as good. It can be frozen, preserved by canning, or kept in the fridge for about a month since it has a good amount of vinegar. Apple Chutney 4 cups chopped, peeled apples, about 8 big or 12 smallish apples 1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup onion chopped 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup cider vinegar 1 or more garlic cloves diced or pressed or roasted, or 1/4 tsp ground 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger or nob of fresh, grated 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard 1/2 teaspoon curry powder 1/2 teaspoon white pepper 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ground clove 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon add optional ingredients such as ground chili powder, diced jalapenos, a few dried red chilies, additional fruits etc., make sure you tweak the sugar/vinegar ratio if you add extra fruits, add more sugar for a sweeter taste, or more vinegar for a more tangy taste. In a saucepan, combine all ingredients, and bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring frequently, until the apples are tender. Mix in some water if necessary to keep the ingredients moist. The consistency should be close to a jam or a preserve and the color should be a raisiny brown. Transfer to a container and cool. Refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to blossom or freeze after it cools. Enjoy!

Sounds great ith a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side! Thanks for the Apple Dumpling recipe RainbowsGirl, I've been looking for a good one, yours sounds fabulous!

I concur! Yorkshire pudding is truly great! I think toad in the hole is based on it, but it is prepared in a pan with sausages and brown gravy on top over all...so great that you cook too RumRunner!

Sorry Twinky, it was just too easy to pick on the oh so green side dish.... ....doesn't really sound that great in the can with food coloring added....eeew!!! :( Speaking of Brit dishes, there are some good ones, I like bangers and mash, and bubble and squeek, but there is one thing I've never tried which is toad in the hole. Do you like it? Who eats it nowadays or is it something your grandma would have made?

The answer is Friedrich Nietzsche. Anyone interested in posting a new clue?
-
Maybe we should just put this particular clue in abeyance until Bfh comes back, since no one is trying to solve it, and just let someone start another one to keep the ball rolling? Does that sound OK? Anyone interested in doing that?

Just remember not to store water in plastic containers directly on cement, there is some sort of transference when you do that, just store it on something like a wood palate or on a shelf in the garage. Also consider that each person will drink up to a gallon every two days, if water is hard to get where you live outside of city water sources, then larger long term quantities should be considered. Beer does have nutritional value to it, and may be a good option for survival consumption.... Cheers!

Will the REAL vpw-ministry remnant please stand up?
now I see replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
Yep, states like New York, California, Ohio, and Florida must have been winfall goldmines for those who got them lock stock and limb homes and extwi believers and their money. Don't any of these offshoot guys know that God is always watching, and in the end, you can't fool God? I guess twi believers were always easy pickings....easy to use to further the appearance of Godliness and agendas.... -
Gee Rummy, thanks for finding that old text, that's too bad for me, I have a dream of having a sheep ranch and of actually making Artisanal sheep's milk cheese, in my old age....maybe I'll be needing an exorcism or something....cheese making is probably akin to whitchcraft!

JP might not know, but his old pal McM*llen, whose farm this is at, sure does....they are both trying to relive their glory days and heal their own wounds, too bad they think this is the way. They have simply picked up where they left off after the old man died. -
No, decades earlier.....

Bfh hasn't checked into the Spot via his user name since Sept 3rd, I hope all is well with him.... I'm gonna give a hint to speed things along, which is: the author was alive somewhere between mine and GeorgeStGeorge's guesses and Cynic and wrdsandwrks guesses, and the first line is a tip off to the identity. Good luck!

Okie Dokie Steve! Here goes: ...Do you realize the danger you're in? If you live like one of them for a year... without practicing your trade... you become one of them. Exactly... I want nothing more than to be married, be a good housewife and a helpmate to the man I love. To think I would ever hear my own daughter say a thing like that! Mother, you're treating me like a baby! You are a baby. You've barely learned to fly. Well, we haven't planned to do a lot of flying. .... Mother! That's an interesting brew. What does it do? I was trying to bake a cake. Mother, I don't know how I'm going to manage. I've got to do the dishes, clean the kitchen, vacuum and dust, make the beds, shop and then prepare dinner. What's that? It washes dishes. Imagine! Do you know the right words? You don't use words... you just press this button.
