I managed to read the thread again right before it was deleted. it was the kind of controversy that twi people can only shut down by ignoring the issues and questions. I'm sure those kids' parents are proud beyond belief at how their kids shut down the naysayers with the standard "focus on the positives" tactic they always use. you know, none of that negative stuff matters cuz we're HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! most of those kids look familiar. I think at least a few of them are staff brats. it wouldn't surprise me at all if this is part of twi's PR effort for reaching the middle class. they've got to be realizing by now that people don't want them knocking on their doors, they get their information on the internet, so an internet presence is a necessary evil. the threads smack of keyword seeding :D that's actually a good idea, since so many young people hang out on myspace. I hate myspace because it's slow, but I'll think about starting a group if anyone wants to lend a hand.

random surfing tonight, stumbled across The University of Toledo Foundation 2002/2003 Annual Report, which had under its Donor Recognition section something called: Jesup W. Scott Society cumulative giving of $50,000 to $999,999; recognized in three levels: Builders, Partners and Associates and in the Partners list (cumulative giving of $100,000 to $499,999) guess who was listed? The Way International so... why was my ABS going here, I wonder? whose brat was attending college at the University of Toledo? in 2002, not in 2004 like I put in the title and can't change now

huh? I got what Belle said, but you confused me with the strawman question. "great leaps of illogic and fantasy some folks will go to in order to defend the man they worship"... they can't help but excuse the most base of behaviors in their object of worship, because if they don't, he will not be worthy of worship. seemed pretty plain. define worship: holding his (vpw's) image in unsullied regard, I will deny all attacks against his character, be they theft, plagiarism, drunkeness, lying... even rape. that's what his worshippers do.

yep, I remember that, too. he said it was insane to let the government hold our money and use them as a savings plan, interest-free. he said try to break even or keep it within a few hundred bucks. funny thing is, twi policy changes almost as often as I change my underpants, so I'm sure it's tough for their leadership to remember what current policy is. pile on top of that the fact that old policy is never formally rescinded, and the method for getting new policy out is usually to change things a little here, a little there, until all of a sudden you end up facing east when you were facing west a while ago, and you have no freekin' idea how you got turned around. yep, those poor leaders!!!

wow, it's so cool to hang out with "bad guys". you must have poked at them too hard and pus came out or something. can't have that happening! better to ban you and keep it controversy-free and beautiful. how boring.

once a work has been given to the public (inserted into the public domain) it cannot be copyrighted, even by the original creator. it has been gifted, just like signing the copyright of a famous song over to someone else, who then gets to collect royalties. the original owner cannot then say "oops". and, just because ownershipt has changed (either individual to individual, or individual to public) it does not mean the author has changed. public rights do not include the right to claim authorship. now, that said, it would be difficult for dmiller to defend a claim of copyright in court over a song he wrote if he publicly stated that he was placing it in the public domain, but you are correct he could record and copyright his version of it (which would be protected by that insane outfit you told me about, dmiller). it would also be difficult for someone else to put their name on it as author and copyright it if there was general knowledge that dmiller wrote it, so a fraudulent copyright suit would not stand up in court if the defendent could prove dmiller wrote it and put it in the public domain (as long as we can keep that insane watchdog organization out of the situation, which can only happen if no one registers a recording with them... I'm just talking printed music here).

easy to fix... new myspace account

I picked the wrong guy the first time around. because of the way social security is set up for the parent who devotes their time to raising the kids, there are reasons I should not remarry. uncle sam has dictated I marry for money or shack up to avoid living on a pittance as my reward for being the good wife. what to do... what to do? I'm throwing caution to the wind and getting married. I believed "til death do us part" and took far too long to leave my first marriage. I wouldn't risk it again, if it weren't for the fact I really like this guy and can't imagine my life without him.

so, what did Stiles say God told him to do? usually when I buy a book, the payment is made to Amazon or Barnes and Nobles. I can't remember the last time (if ever) I paid an author directly. the method generally used is you pay the bookstore or other end distribution point, who pays their distributor, who pays the publishing house, who pays the author. pretty neat, huh???
-
sweet!!!! thanks GT!!! now I must give this some deep thought...

wow. hey, dmiller: God told me to take your music and publish under my name. amazing, huh! God sure works in mysterious ways. he knows how badly I want to bless people with music (never mind that I never learned how to write it). I just know you won't mind, because God told me it was ok. pee-puhl, you'll all be blessed soon to see my songs in print!! you can play them too as much as you like, but you gotta pay me. any resemblance between MY copyrighted music and dmiller's public domain music is God's responsibility because God called us both here so I could use dmiller's work. anyone with problems, ask excathedra what to do.

take note, the TWIt who posted that wasn't as much offended by being contacted by him as she was that his site existed. it doesn't matter if his site is anti-cult, he has as much of a right to an opinion as anyone else. forum owners can kick people off. myspace can, too, but it seems unlikely they'd do it because one of their members is offended by another calling their "church" a cult. I'm offended by her disrespect of thewaycult's right to hold his own opinion, so can I get her shut down? and so on, and so on.

you know what's interesting.... the groups FOR twi are members only, restricted membership, and the groups trying to expose them are open. guess who's got something to hide?
-
well, I put pineapple on my pizza but it makes people hate me.

hey Ham, I'll play. I can say this from the bottom of my heart, because I said it after the first session of PFAL and gave my "undershepherder" heart palpitations. vpw is boring.

here's a thought, I ran across this nifty device when I was researching how to control 4 footed trespassers, bet it would work on the 2 footed variety just as well: http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0038318660073a.shtml what would even be better is to hook it up with some pink dye so the vandals would get marked.
-
T-bone, you should make sure to allow for that in your burial contract so that you don't get arrested for vandalism.

d, I usually leave way too fast for that to be any real risk ;) I think I'll apply for friendship just so I can comment.... and give people one more way to find GS!

not always. some people have lost their lives because of leadership crap. others have lost children. I almost lost one of mine. she's not obligated to present evidence to you. a lot of what you hear in here is not supported by evidence, they are the personal accounts of the people who lived them. so what's your point? I can look back at plenty of times I didn't handle things well. if I had, I'd have been divorced many years ago and out of twi instead of wasting 20 years of my life in there. it's no good telling people they screwed up when they already know it. I can't tell you how many times I thought about killing myself. are you going to criticize me for it, or rejoice that I finally found the strength to get out? one way or another, I didn't ask for it and it's not my fault. I was abused. I thought leaving was not an option for a very long time. there's no point in accusing people of being weak who are turning it around and finding their strength. she was hurt, her kids were hurt. it wasn't handled well. evidence is gone. her husband, who should love her and protect his family, worked with the guilty to keep the victims victimized. is that such a shocking story that you can't believe it? yes, the fight will be so much harder now because of the time that's passed. she's not the only person who's found themselves in this predicament because they didn't act swiftly enough or they talked to the wrong person. you just want to shrug it off and tell them it's their own fault for not acting on common sense? man, sometimes people just need to cry when they've been through it. who are you to judge that? who are you to judge their mistakes? got love?

yes, griffp, her ignorance is truly alarming. and dmiller, we may not be able to read what he wrote, but we must defend his right to post it! myspace is the church doors of our day and time! well, sorta. it's got to be good for SOMETHING!

I was burning some mouse-clicks and dropped in at one of the twi groups on myspace, and some little twit be-otch has posted a complaint about this myspace group: http://myspace.com/thewaycult here's what she says: obviously her parents raised her in the way she should go and she hasn't departed from it. poor thing, she doesn't understand that it's not offensive to use your brain. now, if the problem was that he harassed her, that's a legit complaint, but her beef seems simply to be that he disagrees with her. edited for bad mouseclicks.
-
I had the same things written and said about me when I started to talk about what I went through. I don't know pinklady personally, but her story rings very true to me. why? because I lived a very big part of it. she's either been victimized in ways you can never imagine, or she's the world's biggest con artist. you're assuming she's a con artist. I believe she was broken and abused and is recovering herself and if I'm right, then your words are the most hurtful I can imagine posting in a place like this.

that's really awesome!
