oh wow, that was incredibly disturbing. I never read that. it also mirrors to a T what my ex seemed to feel about his relationship with me, and what twi encouraged and groomed him to feel. wow.
-
that's what attracted me as well... ME, read and understand the BIBLE?? WOW! that was the pitch, that was the hook... but it turns out the whole thing was really just about supporting the egos of a few righteous men. it was just a long spiral down to that realization.
-
personally, that's the last thing I'd put my effort into and I have several things I'm working on for publication. twi can't do anything about satire. as americans we have the right to satirize pretty much anything we want.

cheranne, are you an artist? I am, and my kids are way into graphic novels. graphic novels seem like an ideal format for telling some of the scary and ridiculous sh!t we went through. I've been drawing a lot more fantasy art now that I'm out of twi. no more farmers and cornfields or leafy trees and rainbows... at least not without scantily clad winged creatures hovering about.

I will have to give this some thought.

ok ok, so we'll say it's a work of fiction based on a true story with all the "negative" parts left out, unlike Kristin's book seriously though, my point was they can't have it both ways.
-
seriously, using the same logic we can pronounce mrs. wierwille's book a work of fiction because she was recounting things a hell of a lot longer ago and she was quite elderly when she was writing it. obviously it can't be true!

here's something that really helped me understand why people stay in: study up on narcissistic personality disorder, particularly in domestic relationships and in the church. the people who are most easily manipulated by narcissists are the ones they target and groom. victims aren't necessarily out looking for someone to control and abuse them, in fact when twi got their claws in me I was actively trying to recover from the way I was raised, but narcissists are ALWAYS on the lookout for people who are susceptible, which is why twi and my ex-husband swooped in and so effectively changed my life in a very short period of time from an independent thinker to someone almost completely helpless.

I'm gonna pass on clicking the link because I remember ck too well now, but I encourage newcomers to do so. ck's writing is a good example of what happens to your brain when you make a man into a god. anyway, ck's "reviews" have been appropriately commented on, so I doubt anyone looking at buying the book would take them very seriously.

thanks Tzaia, I have, and am, getting the help I need, which is the reason I was able to get out of twi and my train wreck of a marriage. I know twi isn't the only group of zealots with the same flaw, which is why I decided to give up my christian citizenship and declare myself my own country, with no religious affiliation and socks, that's an EXCELLENT suggestion. if they come to a concert and want to complain, then they should do it to the band, not the promoter! gosh, if you turn your back on work because some lyric isn't perfectly in accord with twi doctrine, then the only group you'll have left to promote is the freaking singing ladies/way prod, and they don't sully themselves with performances outside the fold (thank GOD!)

OH YEAH! I'd forgotten about that little sh!t. what do you know.

waysider, there's also choroidal melanoma, which might be at least contributed to (not caused) by sunlight exposure. http://www.emedicine.com/oph/topic403.htm for people still stuck on the twi hamster wheel, the alcoholism and sexual predation are only ALLEGED at best and vindictive accusations by bitter ex-followers at worst, but vpw's cancer is documented. but the bottom line is, making the class did not cost vpw his eye. by twi logic, vpw was possessed with devils for god knows how long, and obviously he walked outside of god's protection for A LONG TIME because the cancer killed him. motherof2, if you can't ignore what your family says to you, tell them your believing is your business and not theirs, and if believing is all it takes then why was victor paul wierwille possessed with a spirit of cancer? FOR YEARS???

I hope so, Lifted Up.

because of twi's stance on illness, and especially certain illnesses that they claimed were caused by devil spirits, I lived with severe post-partum depression and a long-time anxiety disorder that I could have got help for. it turns out that the anxiety disorder became worse and worse BECAUSE of twi and my ex-husband, who used twi leadership to help him "keep me in line". I eventually started getting additional physical sicknesses because of the constant, ongoing stress. sickness happens. people get depressed. if someone is beaten often enough and erratically enough, they will develop some kind of psychological disorder. the sick person didn't ask for it. the only thing I have learned is that keeping the blamers and beaters in your life won't let you get better, or let you learn to deal with a permanent condition. I'm also very curious about Wierwille and his devil-spirit cancer... just how long did he have it, for it to metastasize from his eye to his liver? how far back should his followers go to throw out his teachings because he was devil-possessed?

they're going for less than $5 on amazon, which is about what they're worth. no wait, I think someone would have to pay me $5 to take a copy, but at least I could use it to start fires in my firepit.
-
I forgot the amazon link in case anyone was interested: http://www.amazon.com/Expansion-Christian-...7585&sr=8-1 I have the silly-bus too, I just can't remember at this point if the class came first or the book. the book was one of the most excruciating things I've ever had to work through, and we were REQUIRED to work it and teach it in fellowships. god, what awful times. was I really dumb enough to waste that much of my life in that god-forsaken organization? oh yeah. that was me... I wasn't dumb, I was terrorized.

since I took a look at Kristen's book "losing the way" on amazon and noticed that twi innies are posting reviews just to assassinate her character, I decided to take a look at lcm's book to see if it's there and even though only used copies are for sale, for some reason innies STILL feel the need to defend it as a great work. does twi even sell that book anymore, since lcm left in shame?

yes, you do get to write off charitable contributions. the weirwille brothers who owned the farm would have taken a tidy federal deduction for the contribution. it may not have had a financial impact on vpw, but to his businessman brother it could have meant a large savings. I'm not an accountant, but I suspect that there were also benefits in donating rather than leasing because they'd still pay taxes on the lease income, but by donating, vpw got to enjoy the lifestyle he wanted at no expense to him. I don't really have a problem with charging for classes and books. I do have a problem that the purpose of the class was to get you tithing, and into the next class, and into the next ad nauseum to enforce the programming. it was the forced tithe that they were after.

I don't think I'm one of anything, really. I'm currently without religion

yeah, solstice comes before christmas, so if we open our presents on solstice we have more time to play with them during the kids' winter break! the real reviews of the book come across as more sincere, by people who actually read the book and weren't just writing a knee-jerk twi-programmed response to someone saying bad things about their "ministry", so I think the average joe isn't going to be fooled by them. I just really loved how easy they made themselves to spot by peppering their reviews with wayspeak.
-
haha! well, my needs and wants are parallel, dear coolchef, so god will provide to me according to my believing, because I believe in this case he is both willing and able to get me a copy of that book

I was just browsing amazon and saw that a couple of twi innies left scathing reviews of the book and questioned Kristin's ability to remember events that happened so long ago. hell, I remember my 3rd birthday party and that was longer ago than Kristin's experiences. I remember hundreds of events from my childhood before I reached the age of 10. I even know why my parents divorced and I was only 4, because as an adult the events I witnessed that seemed to mean nothing through a child's eyes make perfect sense as an adult. the attempts to question Kristin's memory are laughable, and predictable, and one of the tactics they used on me when I was an innie to make me doubt my every thought. I can't wait to read her book. I just bought it for myself as a winter solstice present.
-
thank you! apparently he has an Order page on his site. I guess it was silly of me to assume amazon would have it.
-
I can't seem to find the book for less than $139 on amazon though! does anyone know if the book can be bought anywhere?

I think the sole purpose of the credit union is to control staff money.
