You have the right idea, Suda, but if the last link ends on a movie title, you start with an actor from that movie, not another movie title.

I thought of something else today about the picture Mark posted: If I were an innie coming here because I was thinking about maybe departing from the prevailing promised place, one look at that image would send me in the other direction. Sometimes less is more. You want us to suggest a replacement, Mark? Sorry. Not my job. I think the best form of censorship is self-censorship, preferably of the variety that occurs before the bell's already been rung. It's too late for that, isn't it? Mark, you're free to post anything you care to, if it's okay with Paw and his moderators. And I'm free to not like it and to change my opinion of you (hint: it used to be better) as a result. Regarding VPW's children: They probably know more than anyone how people fawned over their father. That doesn't mean the image of their father's head stuck on the crucified Christ wouldn't be distasteful or even painful for them to see. Socks, and ex10, you've written many wise words in this thread. Thank you both. (I'm sure others have, too, but those are the ones that I remember without going back through the whole thread.)

Someone PLEASE get this. The tune has been rolling around in my head for 2 days. I can even think of some of the other lyrics, and I can hear the person singing it, but I can't think of the name of it or the name of the band! HELP me, please help me. This is driving me bonkers. I know I'm gonna feel stupid when I see it, but that would be better than the torture of ALMOST being able to think of it.

Always happy to hear all is well with you!

What offends me? Making the crucifixion of Jesus into a cartoon to make your point. You're quite articluate, so I know you could do it with words. Maybe ck needs to have your point driven home with a sledgehammer, but the majority of the people viewing these forums don't.

CK, despite the fact that I knew VPW and was quite fond of him, none of my pleasant experiences with him erase the wrong that he did to other people. Like the rest of us, he'll have some 'splainin' to do when he meets his maker. It is possible that you can be thankful for whatever good you derived because of him and still open your eyes to the fact that not everything he did was good. You can't persecute a dead man. That's just silly. Mark, your picture is offensive. You could have made your point without it.

Happy Birthday, Galen! This WWII submarine is permanently docked near my office: (Whoda thunk we'd have a submarine in Ohio! This is our second one; our first, the USS Gar, was scrapped in 1959.) And, just to make you smile on your birthday, here's a great story about some submariners, a rooster, and a goat! Oops, forgot the link! Here it is: http://www.ussarcherfish.com/afishpic/goat.htm

I don't think I'll see it. That was probably the most terrifying day of my life, and I don't know if I want to relive the feelings I had that day. I don't fault the makers of the movie for making it or anyone for wanting to see it, but it's not for me. I don't know how anyone alive on September 11, 2001, could ever forget that day. It was terrifying even here in Ohio, because we had no idea what would happen next. For all we knew, the attacks on NY and DC were were just the beginning and more attacks would spread across the country to other large cities.

A friend and I went down to HQ for some weekend event in 1977. After it ended, lpretty late at night, we headed up I-75 to go home. My friend was driving, so I snuggled down in my seat for a nap. I was sleeping, then for no apparent reason, I was suddenly wide awake. I looked over at my friend and he was sound asleep behind the wheel, barreling down the interstate at 70 mph. He wasn't swerving at all--just driving straight ahead with his eyes completely closed, so it wasn't an unusual movement of the car that woke me. I'm a very sound sleeper. I didn't want to startle him, so I put my hand on the steering wheel and said his name in the calmest voice I could muster. He opened his eyes and, boy, was he freaked out that he had fallen asleep at the wheel on the freeway! I'm sure God woke me up. If I'd kept sleeping, the car would have gone off the road or drifted in front of another car or one of the big semis that were whizzing past us. We both thanked God for that one!

Thanks for all your suggestions. I appreciate it, as I'm sure Emma and Cleveland Brown will. I welcome any other opinions, too.

Despite the fact that I live in a pretty large city, there are only two pet stores anywhere near my house. Every time the pooches run out I have to fight the mall traffic or the on-the-way-to-the-mall traffic to buy more. Plus the stuff's expensive. It would be really nice to be able to pick up a medium-size bag when I grocery shop, rather than lugging a behemoth bag into the house so I don't have to go to the pet store so often. So I ask you: Are there any good dog foods that are sold in the grocery store? Don't get me wrong. I want my furry housemates to have good, healthy food, and I'll keep hauling it if there aren't any alternatives out there. And furthermore, I don't even know if I'm buying the healthiest "designer" dog chow. I have them both on Nutro Max for Weight Control, because I was told it's good, high protein food. My vet says it's fine. What do you all feed your dogs? (And for those who make your own super-healthy concoctions for your dogs, my hat's off to ya, but I barely cook for myself anymore, so that's out!)

Galen, I cut and pasted the article titles: January 1979 Faithfulness by W. Thanks, mstar. The bathroom is my money pit. I already paid to have some of drywall replaced once, and now the patched area is falling apart again. What's that about putting old cloth on a new garment?? So now I need to pay someone to put in new drywall all around the tub and quit monkeying around with baling wire and chewing gum. Home ownership: Not for sissies!

Hi Littlehawk! I flipped through all these God's Word in Culture newsletters twice and didn't see those lyrics, or I'd post 'em for you. If you have any old ROA tapes or albums, the song might be on one of them. If I run across anything, I'll let you know.

I don't know if they still are, but when I was on staff (82-6), they were self-insured.

ex10 said: I'm sure you'll do a great job and be a blessing to you still-way coworker. Maybe it will inspire him to leave or maybe not. But at least he'll get a good chance to see that there's life after twi and that you don't have any grease dripping off you!! Congrats on your new job! They're lucky to have you.

coolchef, thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't even thought about anyone here wanting them until after I'd posted them on ebay. Trust me, I've sold other twi stuff on ebay and never said a peep about it on GS. It just dawned on me that maybe some of the people who were involved in Military Outreach might find them interesting. I'm selling them because I'm cleaning out my office and selling lots of things to pay for the repair of an aging bathroom wall (which, sadly, is crumbling into dust). If I thought anyone needed these things, I'd gladly give them away, but since this is just something someone might want, they're free to bid on them. I doubt they'll set anyone back much cash.

Hmmm, that's 2 votes for us cheaters and 2 votes for the more pure of heart . Back to the puzzle at hand... So-Not-My-Lawn (no crab grass 'n weeds) Golden Boy Green Golden Child ummmm Grass Elliott Kid Green Gold Tan Yikes...good one! Ya got me!

I've never posted a shameless (or even a shameful) plug for old twi items I've put up for sale on e-bay, but it occurred to me that some of you ex-twi military folks might be interested in these. Each newsletter (there are 4) has a Military Outreach article (most by $teve Axtell, one by Paul Norcro$$). I think the twi stuff on e-bay gets plenty of traffic without our mentioning it here, but I thought perhaps someone would find these useful or nostalgic or something.

Mr. Strange, you have no peers when it comes to movie pictionary, but I agree with you. If you don't want anyone to see the right word, Rhino, just temporarily save the file to your computer with a different name before you upload it to here. Problem solved! Dooj, I'm stumped. lawn man boy lawn males grass guys yard fellas Hmmm, hard one!

Georgio, thanks for bringing this up again. When I listened to that audio clip of Donna bad-mouthing Naomi, it made me feel sick. I shared your admiration for Naomi. She was a beautiful young woman and the world is so much worse off for her absence. She was bright, beautiful, kind, and loving. I'm just glad the jerks running the way international* commit their BS to tape so that people can hear it for themselves. *spelled out so that anyone googling twi might find this thread and listen to the tape

Ooh, I love a close finish. This is better than basketball.

I think that article is from the 80s, judging by when it says Gartmore was purchased by twi. Wasn't Chrsitopher Leggett Chirs Geer's brother-in-law? I seem to recall that Chris L. is Barb Geer's brother, but I could be misremembering. I remember him as kind of a free spirit--the exact opposite of CG.

Okay, I've tied the vote. Somebody better send ex10 some goodies, quick.

That alphabet thing always bugged me, too. If God gave the utterance, why the heck would He need help from us???
