Do you like Indian food? Here's a recipe for Baigan Bharta: -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 Medium eggplants 2 tablespoons water 1 1/2 onions -- peeled and finely chopped 3 cloves garlic -- peeled and minced 1 tablespoon fresh ginger root -- minced 2 green chiles -- or jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced (optional) 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 2 teaspoons curry powder -- or garam masala 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup fresh peas -- (or frozen) 1 14-oz can diced tomatoes -- (with jalapenos, optional) 4 tablespoons soy milk 2 tablespoons cilantro -- chopped Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Prick each eggplant with a fork in two or three places. On a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, arrange the eggplants. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the eggplants are tender and the skin begins to char. Let cool. Carefully peel away and discard the skin. Chop the pulp coarsely and set aside. In a large nonstick skillet, heat the water. Add the onions and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes. Add the ginger and green chilies, and cook for 2 more minutes, until the onions are golden. Add the cumin, curry powder, salt, peas, and tomatoes, and simmer over medium-low heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the mashed eggplant, soy milk, and chopped cilantro. Cook, stirring, for 10 minutes, until the flavors are well blended. This is a quick eggplant and barley stew. Hearty Eggplant-Barley Bake Yield: 4 servings 1/2 c Onions, chopped 1/2 c Mushrooms, chopped 1/4 c Green peppers, chopped 1 tb Garlic, minced Water for sauteeing 1 c Eggplant, cubed 2 tb Water 1 cn Tomatoes, chopped (16 oz) 1 1/2 c Water 3/4 c Quick cooking barley 1/2 c Chili sauce (try to find a "natural" brand) 1/4 c Fresh parsley, chopped 1 ts Maple syrup or other sweetener 1 ts Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce 1/2 ts Dried marjoram 1/4 ts Ground black pepper In a large no-stick frying pan over medium heat, sauté onions, mushrooms, peppers, and garlic in 1 tbs. water until softened, about 5 minutes. Add eggplant and 2 tbsp. water; sauté until softened, about 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes (with their juice), 1 1/2 cups water, barley, chili sauce, parsley, honey (or syrup), Worcestershire sauce, marjoram, and black pepper. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes, or until barley is tender. A curry: 1 med eggplant 1 med onion, chopped 3 garlic cloves, minced 1 tsp turmeric 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp black pepper 1 tomato, peeled and seeded (or about 1/2 cup canned tomatoes) 1 tsp curry powder 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 dash cayenne Roast the eggplants over a charcoal grill, or roast them in a 400 oven until brown on the outside and soft on the inside. Cool and peel. Sauté the onions in water until translucent, then add garlic and mustard seeds. Cook until the onions begin to turn golden. Stir in the turmeric, cayenne and curry. Add the eggplant pulp, onion mixture, and tomato to a food processor and blend. Add tomato until the mixture looks thick and red-brown (don't add too much, or it will be too sweet). Add the salt and pepper. Serve over steamed brown rice.

I have some true friends from TWI 1. I think I might have had friends in TWI 2, but there wasn't too much fellowship. Instead, it was all doctrine, reproof, correction. So, I wasn't able to get to know anyone's heart, and I don't think anyone got to know mine. And when I left, I was so sick of TWI, I didn't want to be around anyone who was associated with it. So, I don't talk with anyone from the later years.

Psalm, Ellie must have been such a special cat. It sounds like she brought so much joy to everyone she came in contact with. I love how you buried her at home, and all the things you're doing to remember her. I'm so sorry she's gone, Psalm, but at the same time, thankful Ellie had a happy and loving life with you. Peace and love to you, and your family.

I don't know of any benefits that citizens of The United States cannot get that immigrants can. But I did find a site that lists by state all the benefits that an immigrant is eligible for. Maybe this will help. http://law.enotes.com/everyday-law-encyclo...rnment-services

They overestimate themselves..

I have never been to any offshoot meetings of any kind, but I do have family and friends who do, any they aren't shy about telling me all about them. One I was told about, many years ago, was a meeting with JAL and B0 Re@h@rd. And the thing they talked about the most was the beautiful praise and worship music that was sung. Was this an early CES meeting, or since B0 was involved, was it something completely different? Does anyone know? -
Potato, TWI did this? What jerks!

We already have "organized legal and local trained forces." They may not be gun toters, but they can be just as, if not more, powerful. They're called our community. Where are the schools? Why aren't they offering after school and weekend activities? Where are the churches? What happened to The Boys and Girls Club, and The Scouts? What is anyone on this thread doing to offer a viable alternative? There may be adults in these gangs, but most of the members are children, as young as nine or ten. Do you really want a task force to kill children?

I think you hit the nail on the head, Cman. I think the vast majority of the population are thinking of themselves, and unless we do something huge to help or hinder many people, like Dr. Martin Luthur King, Jr. or Adolf Hitler, people just move on. I think we tend to make ourselves more important than what we are. It helps me to remember that I am just a very small part of a much greater whole.

Its a good idea to get the graffiti off as soon as the police have documented it. (Have the police been out to see it yet?) Unfortunately, doing that is left up to the homeowner, and they may not have the time, money, or ability to get it removed. Do you see kids hanging out in your neighborhood? I'd call the police, even if they're doing nothing wrong. The police need to know who is in your neighborhood, and why, and the gangs need to know the police are there. You can tell the police there are kids loitering, and they'll come. If you and your neighbors could be outside more, that might help, too. Gang member don't like to be identified, and if there's a neighborhood where people are out doing yardwork, or walking their dogs, they tend to stay away. Maybe everyone could turn on their yardlights?

I can't find it either. Maybe someone who knows how can walk us through it?

Potato, I love that gizmo you posted, and the idea of the pink dye. If I was a vandal, it would stop me. Last night, we got a flyer from the elementary school across the street. There are no gang signs, but there's a lot of destruction. Some I think was done by our local raccoon population, but its obvious not all of it was. They are forming a neighborhood watch, where if someone sees or hears anything suspicious they call the police. So, if your city won't to a task force, maybe you and your neighbors could do a neighborhood watch. In our area, if there are enough of us, we get signs to put up. It at least shows the criminal element we won't take things lying down. The flyer also asks us to talk with our children. Sometimes they know more about the activity than what they are usually willing to share.

I agree Polar Bear. I think the reason he didn't know if he was in the body or out of the body is because he wasn't fully "awake" at that point. You know how when we dream at night, we don't realize its just a dream until we wake up. Not that I think he was literally sleeping, but looking through a glass darkly, like I Corinthians 13:12

I'll have to invite you to my next family get together. No TWITs, but lots of splinters. Drty Dzn and I have never given any money to any offshoots, or gone to any fellowships, but we sure get alot of material from CES and CFF. Books from JAL, tapes from both groups, we use to get The Sower regularly, and I think we still get CFF's newsletter. I love my family, and I know they mean well, but sometimes they can be so unreal. Lots of love to you, PinkLady.

Wow, Potato, that's a powerful letter. I'm glad you're here!

Thanks Mark. Wow, you would think people could be tested to see if they carry the disease. Or there would be a time limit. If you don't have symptoms of bse by now, you don't have it.

Multi-quote feature? Is that the +quote button?

Potato, you have to wait until you have 500 posts until you can customize your member title, from what I remember. So, keep on posting! (I love reading your posts!)

Poor sweet boy! I hope he gets better soon. He looks so much better after the dip, but he still has a way to go, hey? He probably feels a lot better. He's a pretty big guy too, isn't he? I know Labs are big, but I wasn't too sure about the size of Shar-peis. He's a real good looking dog though, even with the mange. He's going to be gorgeous when his hair grows out.
