I remember, if fact that's how I remembered the song. My children had them. (Also given to them by their grandmother. How odd is that?) Isn't there someone who posts on here who sang on that tape? And I think there was a post a long time ago about how VPW made the writer of the ABC song change the lyrics to "fit" his interpretation of the Bible.

Pizza on a Grill Oil your grill very well so the dough doesn't stick. Place your pizza crust on the grill. When it browns (lightly) and bubbles, flip it over. Brush oil on the crust, then add your pizza sauce, then your toppings. Do this fast, so your crust won't burn. Then close the lid and cook until your cheese melts, unless you're vegan, then cook it 3-5 minutes.

The name tags that everyone always had to wear at every function bigger than twig bothered me, especially when there were one color of name tags for PFAL grads, and another for new people. I always wondered if we were so spiritually attuned, why we relied on name tags to tell us who to speak with, rather than asking God. In a Corps teaching, my coordinator humiliated me in front of the rest of the in residence Corps by saying I was pretending to read my Bible, while really I was sleeping. The thing was, I really was reading my Bible. Yeah, lots of in-depth spiritual perception going on.

Thanks Georgio for posting those links. Pressed Down was always my favorite. I thought it was fun to see there were audience shots in the videos. I keep looking to see if I see anyone I know, but so far, no one.

I've never been, but my children go. They enjoy it, and make it sound like alot of fun. My daughter said that some caches are themed, like some are Star Wars, and some are Disney, etc. She also said there were some caches that didn't have anything, you just left the time it took you to find it, or where you were from. I've never heard of geocaching without a gps, but there is a sport called orieenteering. Runners have to do a course using a map and a compass, and they have to stop at control points on the way. Where's the connection between string theory and reincarnation? Doesn't string theory suggest parallel universes, a different space, so there might be someone exactly like you, but isn't you, while reincarnation deals with time, and how the same you existed before? I think string theory is fascinating, and plausible, but I don't see how it belongs in this thread. What am I missing?

Mr. Ham, I don't think you're nuts. Maybe a little squirrelly..... j/k :) Its funny, I agree with your reasoning, but I've come to different conclusions. Maybe our conclusions really are the same, just the semantics are getting in the way? Anyway, I enjoyed this thread. It made for an interesting discussion around my dinner table.

I too believe the life we are living is what matters most. What I am curious about is the why. Why would many lives be necessary for one soul? What are your thoughts on karma? I'm glad to hear about your night with Mr. Rat. But what if you killed him? Do you think he would reincarnate also?

I don't think age difference is a problem, as long as you're both adults. I would question if there is a pattern of him always dating older women, but I would question any pattern, not just age. Like height, or race, or whatever. I think we as women today take care of ourselves, so we don't need an older man to provide for us, like our mothers did. We can choose someone who will be a better companion, not just someone who will be a better wage earner.

I LOVE tattoos on anyone, except for my family. I wouldn't like it at all if my children got one. Thankfully, the issue has never came up. They're more into piercings. I work in a nursing home, and lots of my coworkers have tattoos. They don't need to be covered up unless they're on a part of your body that our uniform policy says needs to be covered. What surprised me is the amount of female residents that have tattoos. One woman said when she turned 65, she felt old and sad. So, for a birthday present to herself, she got a tattoo of a butterfly. I think she looks pretty with it. There's another resident who has tatooed eyebrows and eyeliner. She said it didn't hurt. I don't know if I believe her or not. Chas, your tattoo is really nice.

Mr. Ham, do you feel there is a purpose in reincarnation? Do you think there is an ending, or are we forever in the cycle of birth and death?

I voted "pretty sure it isn't true." My biggest problem with reincarnation is that I don't see society becoming any better than we were since the beginning of time. Smarter,yes, but that comes from drawing from the knowledge of those who came before us and building on that. If the purpose of reincarnation is to become a better being, and if everyone is reincarnated until they reach perfection, wouldn't society as a whole become better? And yet, I still see war and greed and suffering. Then again, maybe there are just too many new souls being born to make a difference in our lifetime.

Wow Egilkent! And this is only the first of your stories? I can't wait to hear the other ones! But there's a couple of things I don't understand. You said: Is that a twig coordinator overseer? What is that? Like a twig area coordinator? Weren't they splitting twigs anymore? While I was in, 30 to 40 people would have been at least two, if not three twigs. I thought TWI was crazy when I left! It became ridiculous! Sorry you had to go through that. Java Jane said: This explains so much to me. I remember a piece written in The Way Magazine about his painting. It said the painting had homosexual influences because the violinist's wrist was limp. My daughter, her boyfriend, and my son's girlfriend are all straight, classically trained violinists. All of them hold their bowing wrist limp for dexterity; that's how its supposed to be held. I agree with DMiller, but wanted to add, if they are asking about the seminary that was attended, and for a recommendation from your pastor, why wouldn't the denomination you are with ordain you?

Wow! Do people actually do that, or do you think its just a warning like, 'don't use this blow dryer while sleeping'? We had someone steal pain patches from the residents at the nursing home I work at, but I didn't think someone would take them from their dog. My neighbor has a rottweiler, and my dog just loves her. They're wonderful dogs. I'm so happy Nico is healing well, and getting back to normal.

I've never tipped a hotel maid either, because I didn't know I was supposed to, but a lot of people I know who travel do, and they leave $5 a night. I tip my hair dresser 15%. She does everything-shampoo, and cut and style. When my car was in the shop, I tipped the cab driver who took me to work and back, 15%. If I could get a ride from a coworker, I would give them the money I would have used for cab fare to them for gas money. Pizza and Chinese food deliveries are usually a dollar. I don't tip other deliveries, like furniture, or flowers. Should I? My dog's groomer gets 15%. A waiter or waitress gets 15%, more if I ask them to do more than usual. Bad service gets reported to management. Being vegan, I wish I could tip the cook, but usually, I tell the management when things are good. I would tip the bagger at our grocery store; he's very good, and so funny! But the store's policy is no tipping.

Congratulations! I've never been a poetry fan, but I loved your poems that you posted here. And I'm still amazed that you were able to write while in TWI. I have the feeling I'll be hearing your poems read on Oprah's Book Club, or offered as the main selection in the Book of the Month Club. I'll be buying a copy of the book for myself, and some for Mother's Day gifts.

Chas, I think the Texas rescue you found sounds wonderful. My advice to you was going to be: Don't adopt from a rescue that allows you to adopt a dog without checking you out. A good rescue will first make sure you are capable of taking care of a dog, and secondly match you with a dog that is best for you. I'm sure you know that even within the same breed, dogs differ in temperament, and if you're wanting, for example, an energetic dog, you wouldn't be happy with a dog who wants to lay on the couch all day. But, like I said, it seems like you found a good rescue. I'm excited for you!

I always wanted to live in Mayberry! One of my favorite episodes is when Clara convinces Aunt Bea that she's standing in Andy's way to happiness, so Aunt Bea tells Andy that she has a new boyfriend, the milkman. Of course its not true, but Andy doesn't know that, so he investigates and finds out the milkman is married! WOW! Quite scandlous for Mayberry! Remember the one where this old man comes to town, and does handyman work, but gets everyone to do his work for him? And anything with the Darlin family was wonderful. I remember Barney being Andy's cousin on the first show, the same one when Aunt Bea came to stay. I don't remember her accent, but I remember Andy's changing.

T&O, How do people get to LEAD? Do the Corps drive their own cars? Does TWI provide transportation?
