  1. Are you from the U.S.? In the southern states, Sunday church (keeping the sabbath) is a way of life unto itself and its roots extend deeply into all aspects of southern culture.
  2. Most, if not all of them, still promote "magic thinking" (AKA the law of believing). I'm not trying to start a controversy but the Way version of positive thinking can and has gotten people killed. If it's evidence you seek, look no further than the L.E.A.D. debacle.
  3. The ministry wasn't "ruined by a few corrupt individuals". The ministry was corrupt from its very inception, clear back to when Wierwille decided to steal the works of other people and claim they were the results of his own research or that God had given them to him by revelation. That being said, there were a lot of wonderful people that passed through The Way. Many good experiences were mixed with the bad. In no way does that excuse the reality of The Way's truly corrupt nature.
  4. Well, now I'm just confused. The Bible does not apply to non-Christians?? Isn't the Torah essentially the first 5 books of the Bible?
  5. Now if you could just get them to cover their mouths you might be on to something.
  6. Let that be a lesson, Scott. Never question Dear Leader. Dear Leader knows all and sees all. Ah, what the hell. Welcome to GSC. We forgive you.
  7. Isn't he the one who said "The Way is like a bunch of kids playing church."? Edit: On second thought, maybe that was Rev. Tracy.
  8. Who's the 1st speaker in 1972 part 2? (about the 3:00 mark)
  9. I didn't know rattlesnakes could live that long.
  10. Eleven days later, at Jackson State University, in Jackson Mississippi, 2 more students were killed and 12 were wounded. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackson_State_killings
  11. Stay safe, stay home and wear a mask when you need to go out in public. Maintain a physical distance as much as you can and practice good hygiene and health habits. Also, avoid anything recorded by Donald "Duck" Dunn in order to maintain a positive level of musical self esteem.
  12. There are specific laws that dictate how a non-profit organization must be dissolved.
  13. When this happened, I was living about an hour away from Kent State. Living so close and being of draft age the incident really hit home with me at the time.
  14. Don't feel guilty, my friend. Just be grateful you didn't have to needlessly kill innocent people for a meaningless war.
  15. Twinky, your post reminds me so much of the FellowLaborer program I participated in during the mid 1970s. Work, work, work, that's all we did. When we would be allowed to go back home for a visit, you got a sense that local believers were under the impression we were doing in-depth studies of "the word". Nothing could be farther from the truth. When we weren't working, we rehashed the PFAL materials over and over and over. Then we rehashed them again. There was precious little time to do any independent study or simply grow as an individual. I read the Bible less there than I ever had before entering the program. That may be, for me, one of the biggest disappointments of the program.
  16. Q: How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Only one...but the light bulb has to want to change.
  17. Waxit, your post is filled with circular reasoning. "How do you know that's true?" "I saw it on the internet and they can't put it on the internet if it's not true." "How do you know they can't?" "I saw it on the internet." (It also crosses the line into antisemitism, but maybe I shouldn't go there for now.)
  18. What am I missing here? How much more specific can you get than "do not commit murder, do not steal, do not commit adultery, etc."?
  19. You're basing this on the assumption that the Bible is a historical record, which it is not. Unless you are a moderator, please don't tell me what I can and can't respond to.
  20. You don't need any scientific evidence on this, just good old fashioned historical probing. By the way, you may want to reexamine your post if you still don't understand why that was a personal attack.
  21. And you know that Moses, as an actual person, existed ...how? Have you looked at any secular historical sources that would support this premise? When you resort to personal attacks, it diminishes the value of your response. Edit: It may seem like a discussion of Moses is off topic but it is not. After all, we have to verify the existence of the messenger before we can examine the message.
  22. The 14 rule restrictions got circumvented by the advanced class. "...about which it is humanly impossible for you by your five senses to know anything."
