I offer the following not as an answer but a point of consideration.------Lev. 17:1 states that the life of the flesh is in the blood.-----When a fetus is in the womb, the blood of the mother and fetus are seperated by the placenta which acts as a go-between to facilitate transfers of oxygen, nutrients, and waste. There is an internal passageway in the heart that allows for blood to circulate in the fetus while at the same time bypassing the still nonfunctional lungs. When birth takes place, this passageway is sealed due to pressure differences that take place at that time At this point an adult type of flow through the heart is established and the lungs switch from bypass to service mode. Perhaps this is yet another piece of the first breath thinking . --------

Add to that list, Dealing With The Adversary(DWA). I think they were green. When I was studying for a license in a building trade, we had to be able to cite code word for word. Once you had your license,though, noone really cared if it was "Section 145; yada yada yada" . The proof of your comprehension was in the finished product. There are lots and lots of tradesmen who can turn out top notch work without quoting the code book but I'll bet they can find it in the book if the need arrises.

A couple years ago I got an XM radio to listen to at work. One of the cd's being featured on the blues channel about six months ago was "Bronx in Blue" by Dion(remember Dion & The Belmonts?) It is acoustic and is , for the most part, solo except for some background percussion. Mostly blues standards and one Hank Sr. tune. The guitar has a very rich, full sound. His website states it is a Martin SP-000C-16E. I admit to not really knowing Martin guitars very well but this one sure sounds sweet. It's worth a listen.

CK----I probably should have put this on the guitar thread but there is just something nostalgic about Dion. His new release is called"Bronx in Blue". It is a solo effort with a hint of percussion behind him. His website says he is playing a Martin SP-000C-16E. All I know is that it's got a great sound. I wish I were more computer savvy, I'd post a sample if I were. It's almost all covers of old blues staples like "Statesboro Blues, "Crossroads", etc." The high point ,in my opinion is "I Let My Baby Do That."

Speaking of Eric Burdon, he recently released a new album /cd. OK if that's not nostalgic enough, how about this. Both Dion ( Yep, that Dion) as well as Elvin Bishop both had new releases in the past year. All three very worthy endeavors and well worth a listen.

dmiller---------Thanks for giving me a glimpse of what Robin was like. Some people live to be 100 and never have as much impact on the lives they touch. I'll bet she was as proud of you as you are of her. The first year is always the toughest because there are so many "firsts" without that person, the first turning of the leaves, the first snowfall, the first Christmas, and so on. Some day we will understand it all but for now we have each other and a pretty cool father who knows our hearts.

For what it's worth, I don't personally believe GOD ever intended for us to remember scripture in a word-for-word fashion. If he did, in what language would it be? Where would the punctuion go? What would the syntax be? Jesus Christ must have known a tremendous amount of what was in the scrolls and yet how often do we see him speak to people in ways that connect with their hearts and understanding rather than quote "green card # 37". If you remember that a soft answer turns away wrath, does it really matter where it is written? What's important is to act on it and then if you just have to know where it's written grab a concordance sometime. I remember once hearing that Einstein shunned the concept of rote memorization of such things as historic dates and state capitals. He said that's what books are for. He said he preferred to keep his mind uncluttered so he could focus on ideas and concepts. This is a poor paraphrasing at best , but that's the general idea. This is conjecture on my part, but I think what impressed your business partner was that your quote was so pertanent and came from an understanding of what it meant.---------Please take your songbooks now and turn to #----------------

When this song hit the charts in the mid 60's, it sounded like the group was describing a group activity that definately could not have received airplay at that time. It sounded as if they were singing " You and Me And Leslie"

I was tempted to name it but it felt like taking candy out of the mouths of sweet babies,James.

I remember the first time I heard that song. I was on the turpike from Stockbridge to Boston. It almost rocked me to sleep.

After following this thread for a while it has occurred to me that perhaps we sympathize because we see a bit of ourselves in her. How many of us saw and heard things that we, in retrospect, should have acted on? How many of us did act but were ridiculed or condemned? Or even worse, made to think we were putting our loved ones very lives in jeopardy? How many of us bought into the fallacy that we just were not seeing the big picture? Maybe that's part of the lesson in "He who is without sin----------" When we understand why we did what we did or didn't do what we didn't do, maybe we will better understand our sympathies for Mrs. W.--------Just my opinion.

The toughest audience I ever faced when stating" I was in a cult" was myself. I was both disappointed and relieved at the same time. I was disappointed because I felt I had been duped and relieved that Some things I had felt guilt about weren't really worthy of self condemnation. As for others, I think it depends on the situation, the person asking and their motivatuion. Recently, a person who I have known for a couple of years revealed they had been in a cult at one time.(not TWI) It opened the door and we compared notes. It was enlightening on both our parts. I think we both profited. On the other hand, for someone who may be simply looking for something to hold over my head, I simply state I was involved with a bible study group. I never lie about it but l don't go into detail unless I think something positive will come out of a disclosure. Being the one bringing up the issue seems too much to me like witnessing. I don't mind sharing the word with someone who has agenuine curiousity but I hope( slap own wrist for "H" word ,lol) I never again come across like I'm forcing my beliefs on someone.
