Kathy I have not been following the news very closely today but from the bits and pieces I've seen it is indeed a sad event. The company I work for has a fairly large Amish clientele. I stopped by my daughter's house the other day. I just needed to use the phone. My grandbaby answered the door And said"Grandaddy, ain't nobody home." You're Damn Right I've got the Blues!----------Buddy Guy

And didn't we all know someone who reminded us of Eddie Haskel? "My, that certainly is a lovely dress Mrs. Clever."

"Only the names have been changed to protect the---umm-----umm--------well anyway, the names have been changed."

Not all terrorists are easily recognizable by their physical appearance. Consider the Oklahoma City bombers, Mcvey and Nichols. Would it make sense to bomb their hometowns"just in case"? That question is ,of course, rhetorical.

Sharon-------------That's close enough for the kids I hang out with. It's actually "Nashville Cats" by Lovin' Spoonful, John Sebastian's tongue in cheek salute to the business side of the music industry. Anyway-----"Just glad I had a chance to say a word about the music and the mothers from Nashville." Me thinkest thou art NEXT!!

I was just 13,you might say I was a musical proverbial knee high When I heard a couple new soundin'tunes on the tubes And they blasted me sky high And the record man said every one is a yellow Sun Record from nashville And up north there ain't nobody buys 'em and I said "But I will!"

George-----------Bertha Butt said "I'll sock it to ya,daddy" to THE TROGALADYTE(sp?). There was a follow- up called BERTHA BUTTS BOOGIE.I may have to disqualify myself as I have no idea who the artist is but I know he did a whole bunch of other songs that followed this same style. Oh. Did I mention she has a couple of sisters?

My Mommy says lying is a sin! And that's the truth!

A certain male relative once told me that a "good looking woman" was one who was at least 10 years younger than himself. Ladies, is there a female version of this adage? BTW----------I'm looking 56 square in the eye!

May I at this time offer an apology if my post may have been poorly constructed and therefore misunderstood. I did not mean to imply that TWI had invoked death threats on the general populace. While I was active in THE WAY, the words to "Amazing Grace" were changed from "saved a wretch like me" to "saved someone like me". One whole verse of "How Great Thou Art",was completely ignored. Christmas was changed to Household Holidays and Easter became Resurection Sunday. The list goes on but the point I was making was that changing words or avoiding mention of the past does not erase its' existance. Al Jolson's use of "black face" would obviously be totally unacceptable in todays' society but does that mean we should pretend it never happened? Juggling of words has been going on since language came into existance and thus my comment that refered to the place in Ecclesiastes where it says "There is nothing new under the sun". I do think it would be fair to expect the stage presentation to be at least historically accurate regardless of political or religious beliefs.

Let's see now--------We change "Amazing Grace" to reflect TWI ideology. We change "How Great Thou art to reflect TWI ideology.--------- There is nothing new under the sun------------

I wish I knew more about computers. Maybe then I would know how to replicate a falsetto voice and say something like "I'll sock it to you daddy."

I know the scriptures speak of a place that people generically refer to as Hell that has been reserved for the fallen angels who were part of the big conspiracy when Lucifer tried to overthrow GOD and he and one third of the angels were cast out, but where do the scriptures speak of human beings being dispatched to a place we shall simply refer to as "Hell"? I am not saying the scripture does not exist, only that I am not familiar with where this might be found. My understanding( and I'm not saying it is accurate) was always that "Hell" was a place reserved for spirits as in the spirits refered to in the OT.

Hope we get to see a photo of the finished project. How long does something like that take from start to finish?

Medic-----------It doesn't matter what you name your Irish Setter, he'll never be able to count.

Oh the memories.--------Junk food runs to the Wayside Truck Stop. Hence the Waysider handle. Twinkies, cigs, and a coffee to go! This was the nearest thing we had to an official class song. OK, this one and "I Believe In Miracles(You Sexy Thing!") Can't remember who sang it either but I think it was Larry something.

Roy----------I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "Wierwille-light". DO you mean Wierwilleite( as in one who is a disciple of Wierwille?) or do you mean one who does not measure up to a standard? Or perhaps one who lit the path so others could also follow his teachings? I guess I'll have to pass on that part for now. As for the rest of it, I believed most of what was taught was correct and thought that TWI had cornered the market on truth. I ,of course, have since learned otherwise. Sure I feel like part of my life was wasted but I was doing a pretty good job in that department long before I knew of TWI. Plus, I met some pretty wonderful people I may never have otherwise met. I don't hate VPW. Perhaps if I had known him personally that answer might be different. I do not hate TWI but have a great disdain for deeds that were committed on their behalf. I never got too wrapped up in that father in the word stuff or put VPW on some special pedastal. GOD is now who he has always been, I just see him in a slightly different light. Thought provoking questions! Holy hugs to ya Bro

Way Disciple Weekly Report Form in 2000
waysider replied to I Love Bagpipes's topic in About The Way
Abe-----------Welcome to our little corner of the world. I'm a fairly recent arrival myself. I encourage you to try some of the fun stuff like "name that movie" and "TV pictionary" and so on . Of course, the weightier matters can also be tossed back and forth in "Doctrinal". The program you were in seems to have gleaned elements of a program that I and others here were in back in the 1970's called Fellowlaborers, especially the part about working at HQ( in our case it was the state HQ) and the sparcity of personal time. You seem to have weathered the experience quite well. During your time there, was there still an obsession with stringing chairs in perfectly straight lines? Also, what sort of duties were you expected to perform during the course of an average day?(if there was such a thing) -
Annette Funny Cello was my first "crush"!

Completely off topic but notice, if you will, that Kathy did not get "top"post". (No malice intended!)

Nolonger---------------You have a valid point to make. It would be hard for me to imagine what it must be like for those close to people accused of or convicted of heinous crimes to have to see details of the crime reported in a public forum. Perhaps a good guideline to follow before publicly expounding would be to ask oneself:1.) Is the information accurate? 2.) Can it be substantiated? 3.) Is there any malice involved in making the revelation? With that said, I think if there is information that should be made public for the benefit of those receiving it then so be it. ----------Just my opinion!

CA-------I'll have to fool around with those lyrics for awhile.

Well, whadda ya' know. I thought it was because neither one could count to ten. It seems that in KY., counting is done on the teeth instead of the fingers and toes. ( I hope no one from KY. figures out I'm from the "worthless nut" state.)

Well, at first glance I thought of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" and then thought of The Stone's "Heart of Stone" but alas I don't think I remember this one. BTW---------- I heard today that Etta Baker, one of the greatest practitioners of fingerpicking the guitar passed on this weekend at age 93. She was an instrumentalist so she doesn't really fit this thread but There was certainly a profoundly lyric quality to her playing.
