I Love(hic!) Lucy. Somebody take my turn.(that's not a clue.)
-
CHA CHA CHA CHATTY Thank you for the lovely sentiment but would you kindly now post a clue? ( I have no idea at all on this one)
-
It looks like an epileptic seizure waiting to happen. I'm not joking!

Bluzeman---------- Please don't take this "personally"! Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone. Let's pretend that we're together all alone. I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low. And you can tell the friend there with you-------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ "He'll Have To Go"----------Jim Reeves/1960 Same song covered many, many times by all sorts of artists. NEXT!!
-
Wasway & Bluzeman---------Elton John did indeed cover this tune. It was originally popularized by a "cross-over" country artist. That's what makes this a great tune; it can't be confined to one genre. To demonstrate this, note that it has also been covered by Elvis, Nat King Cole, Roxy Music, Ry cooder and on and on. I think you know the tune, now we just need the name of the artist that made it a hit.

Doctrines of The Way Ministry that do not line up with truth
waysider replied to year2027's topic in About The Way
In addition to that, in the OT when there was no "Christ in you" God placed spirit "on" peple with whom He needed to communicate. I think that must still be available.(sorry for the buzzword) Holy hugs to ya, Roy -
Doctrines of The Way Ministry that do not line up with truth
waysider replied to year2027's topic in About The Way
Roy-------This is a bit off topic. I think I may know where you are going with the idea of "smelling in tongues, tasting in tongues,etc.". I won't throw in a bunch of scriptures because that would be more appropriately done in the doctrinal section. If it truly is "Christ in you" is it possible he can communicate with us through our 5 senses? I'll use smell and taste as an example. Suppose something I was about to eat was dangerously unfit for consumption. The Christ in you has a much keener sense of smell and taste and therefore may alert you to danger than was hidden from you otherwise. Back to topic now : TWI doctrine is that the more you SIT the more receptive you are. Sort of like some kind of reward. I'm not questioning SIT, merely posing this question: Does God only speak to those who SIT? If that is the case He would have to be playing favorites. I don't think God does that. -
Doctrines of The Way Ministry that do not line up with truth
waysider replied to year2027's topic in About The Way
In my opinion, we are in a bit of a pickle on the wording here because we have to define: 1.)Doctrine that is in question 2.)"The Truth" OK -------for the sake of simplicity, let's just say "the Truth" refers to what most of us believe to be somewhat accurate according to what we have been taught. To this we add those things we have sought out ourselves to either confirm or refute those teachings. So here goes: "The more one speaks in tongues, the more revelation is given" Total rubbish. There are people who spoke in tongues until they were blue in the face who wouldn't know God's voice if He shouted in both ears at the same time. Likewise there are people who have never even heard of speaking in tongues who have clearly heard the "voice" of God and have responded. Doctrine of TWI: SIT much or God won't talk to you. The Truth : God "talks" to whoever He knows will listen.(and that's no SIT!) -
I don't know if it is true but I also remember hearing that a "time capsule" was built into the structure. I may have heard it at the same time and place as WG. Maybe someone will find it when the building is razed someday and they "roll away" the debris. So many meetings and announcements, who could keep track?

Wasway----------I know what you mean about Bernie writing all of them but he actually did not write this one. By the time ole "what's his name" got a hold of it, it had already been covered several time by people more famous than him. When my dad tended bar in the early 60's there were three songs that played almost constantly on the jukebox: "Crazy"(Patsy Cline), "Paper Roses"(Connie Francis) and this one which went on to being named in the Country Hall of Fame as one of the top songs of all time.

How Does God Help You On a Practical, Everyday Basis?
waysider replied to 1searcher's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Practical, everyday stuff. Proverbs has countless examples. I've heard Proverbs referred to as "Words to live by". I don't know if that is an accurate translation but the concept is expressed in that phrase. You don't have to be a Christian or have any special belief system to make the wisdom in Proverbs come to life for you. Here's an example: "A soft answer turns away wrath.(grievous words stir up strife)." Anyone who works with the public can attest to the value of that little gem. Is that an example of God helping you? Well, He was, after all, the author. -
Sorry-------I thought it was still Wasway's turn since I didn't actually say: KICK OUT THE JAMS!(Brothers and Sisters )------MC5 Whisper to me ,tell me do you love me true, Or is he holding you the way I do? Though love is blind, make up your mind. I've got to know.

Thanks for bringing back some really great memories. O.K.------Gotta go now. --------Got something in my eye.

Dadgum whippersnappers today wouldn't know Ted Nugent if they had him in the crosshairs of a crossbow! SIGH!----------What's next?

"Old person here" Did you post that or did I?
-
AHH!----------Those Euclid Ave. memories! I think I saw Moody Blues there when "Go Now" was their big hit. It cost all of a buck. Saw King Crimson across the street at what was maybe called The Palace. Does that name seem correct? Ever go to The Corral? I played in a band that had the Saturday night gig there. We weren't very good but we sure had fun and we put alot of "Soul" into everything we did as if there was actually a purpose to it.

Wasway--------I don't consider myself to be a hard core rocker, just someone who grew up too close to the Detroit music scene to not know this one. I'm going to kick it back out to my brothers and sisters so they can jam on it awhile.
-
Are you ready to sit by His throne? Are you ready not to be alone? Someone's comin' to take you home. If you're ready he will carry you home YES! YES! I'm ready! Pacific Gas and Electric The guitarist was Glenn Schwartz(his brother is Gene S.) Wasway____You are quick on the draw! Lay it on us.

Once when I was in my teens, I confided in my Dad that I had thought about suicide. He looked me in the eye and quietly said:" It would break your mother's heart." That was all he said. It was all he needed to say. Suddenly it was no longer about me but about someone else who meant a great deal to me. I've often wondered if those words weren't divinely inspired.

Brothers and sisters I have many Stumbling along to do their thing. Love is a song, it's better than any It's better for music, it's easy to sing. Here's a clue -------The lead guitarist in this group left his original band to join this one. His original group was The James Gang and his replacement was Joe Walsh. He and his brother(who plays bass) are still very active in the music business.

Bluzeman-----------I have a card up my sleeve on this one because I grew up in his hometown. It was Screamin' Jay Hawkins. He was well known for outlandish behaviour and wild costumes. We tried to do this tune(I Put a Spell on You) in a garage band I was in . The screaming part was easy but the rhythm idiosyncrasies are much more difficult to duplicate than they sound. Rumour has it he was drunk as a skunk when he recorded it. Now as to the second one-------Are those lyrics from the beginning, the middle or the end?

It might modulate to the key of F if "one" of the tires happened to "be flat".

Sogwap 51----------Wish I Knew what to say to make things better. Is your feeling this way related to a specific incident or situation or is it a general overall feeling? Incidents pass and situations change. If you can't put your finger on the cause, it might be time to see someone professional who knows how to help. I 'm praying for you on this end.

dmiller---------I just now saw you post on the W.O.W. "blob" thread and it made me think of something I heard on the radio today. Pappa John Creach doing "Pappas' Blues". Man! The raw feeling that man could coax out of his instrument is beyond words. It sure made me wish I knew how to play the fiddle.
