Remember the old Bill Cosby routine where God speaks to Noah and tells him to build an ark? A booming voice comes from the sky and says: "NOAH, Build me an ark!" Noah pauses momentarily and responds: "Riiiiiiiiight!----Who is this REALLY?" I love that line Riiiiiiiiiight!------Who is this REALLY?

"That's a lovely dress., Mrs. Cleaver". Then as Eddie Haskel would walk away, he would make some snide comment to Wally about how awful he really thought the dress looked. It became a generalized way of describing someone to say "He's a real life Eddie Haskel". Leave it to Beaver Someone take my turn, please.

THWEEEEEEEP!! That was one one those paper noise makers that unfurls when you blow in it. (I'm not so good at the late nights anymore either) HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Yes, indeed. Walk Away----James Gang They had that "funk" sound down long before it had a name. Another great James Gang tune to check out some time is "Midnight Man". Aaaaaannnd!--------Yer next!

Nope. This band pre-dates The Eagles and had some MONSTER players take a turn in the guitar chair. Walsh was actually the second guitarist for this power trio.(chronologically) The original guitarist was Glenn Schwartz who left to work with a famous west coast power outfit and still works today though he doesn't venture far from home. The aforementioned band with Walsh recently gave a reunion show in their hometown.

Mine also says there are no others with my last name. I have never known anyone outside of my family who has the same last name. Still, that's not the same as no one. I did a Google search and found quite a few with the same name and even one who ,although not" famous" himself, is well known for some" famous" artwork he did. Now if I could only find one who won the "super duper, powerball, Step aside, I'm filthy rich" lottery, I might be more inclined to do this:

Remember the old T.V. show called "I've Got a Secret" with host Gary Moore? OOPS!---------Thought this was the "Nostalgia Thread". ----------- -------------------

William-----Many thanks for your open and informative response. It's good to have you here and although I'm not in charge of refreshments, it wouldn't suprise me if some one offered you a complementary cup of joe.

"You were brainwashed to hate VPW." ----------CK---------------- Actually,CK, nothing could be further from the truth of what happened. Many of us spent years of our lives convinced that he was some great man. And hating him was not even on the menu. We held him in the highest regard because we didn't yet know what had really taken place in TWI. Please don't take this as a criticism, but I don't think you really understand what mind control is or how brainwashing works. It might behoove you to do a little research on these subjects. You might also investigate " post traumatic stress disorder" while you are at it. BTW---The invitation still stands to tell us all a bit about your past involvement with TWI. ( That is, if you ever WERE actually involved.)

"There is no truth here at GS, just confusion" "Since there is no hope of anything here, all you do is come back to confusion." -----------CK------------ Refresh my memory, why exactly is it that YOU come back? Once again you have completely danced around my rather innocuous invitation. I don't think you ever were actually personally involved in The Way. Of course, you could still prove me wrong about that. The ball is in your court, though I don't really think you are going to swing at it. Rafs' idea is sounding better than ever.

Hey! You guys can't flim-flam me! Everybody knows a REAL prophesy starts out with something like" For yea, mawh peeeeple." and ends with a "Thus saith the God of Abraham, Martin and John." Geeze!---I might have been born yesterday but I stayed up all last night studying. ps----This post came to me in a vision(It was a Tell-a-Vision)

William--------I already said "howdy" on another thread but something in your post caught my eye. It was the part about initially being lured in by the expectation of a relationship with a member of the opposite sex. Actually, to be politically correct, I suppose I could say the expectation of an interpersonal relationship with one specific person. Something quite similar happened to me and I have posted specifics on it. It makes one wonder how wide spread this tactic was utilized. In a way it reminds me of the sirens in mythology who lured ships in by their compelling songs . Of course, once the ship personnel realized how close to the rocks they had drifted, it was much too late for evasive action. I certainly don't want to pry or tread on ground where I don't belong but I wonder if you see any similarities between your combat ptsd and some of the post TWI anxieties some "believers" experience. I know your ptsd is rooted in a much more intense origin but perhaps you could offer valuable insight in how to cope with some of the long lasting effects of a traumatic experience. If not, I understand. I'm glad you're here. Be sure to sample some of the fun stuff too like "Name That Movie" and "Just Plain Silly".

Hey there, William.Welcome to GSC. I hope the menu lives up to your expectations.

I have invited him/her(CK) on several posts to provide some information demonstrating his or her background and experience with The Way and "Dr." Wierwille. I have stated this can be which classes he/she has taken, which TWI books he/she has studied , what programs he/she has participated in or anything that would give some credibility to his/her statements. It does not have to be of a nature that would reveal his/her identity. So far, I have seen no effort on CKs' part to validate that he or she was ever personally involved with TWI. And so once again ,I extend the invitation to him/her. What say you,CK,care to elaborate?

You can find a wealth of information at "uspto.gov". That's the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Be wary of companies that help you get your own patent. Many will simply take your money and get a "Provisional Patent" for you. This is a bit like a "learners' permit". It is good for one year and allows you market your idea and use the term "Patent Applied For". It can not be renewed so if you don't do something with that idea and get a full fledged patent within your year, that idea might wind up being up for grabs to someone more savvy in developing it. You can can get a provisional fairly easily yourself by just using uspto.gov. Of course, a patent attorney is the best route to take but it can be a costly pursuit so it's best to do some research of your own first. Also: USPTO offers big discounts for those who wish to utilize the internet filing process.

"what did ya get fer Christmas?" I got some CD's I"ve been wanting. "Snake Dancincing Through Gods' Barnyard"---------Rock Bottom "Live At The Big Bend Blues Fest"----------------------The Blues Disciples "Wake Up and Worry"-----------------------------------Mitch Kashmar "Electric Mud"--------------------------------------------Muddy Waters I've replaced that "Electric Mud" about 5 times now because every time I lend it out, it seems to disappear. I really don't mind though because it's like the tree falling in the forrest analogy. If it's really good stuff and you don't turn other people on to it, is it really worth listening to? I decided to get myself a little practice amp too. Nothing too exciting. It's a Pignose 30W bass amp. Also gonna get some new strings for my bass and some reed plates for some of my harps. OK. If that didn't put you to sleep, you might want to try some warm milk-----YAWN.

Which came first? This is only a guess but here goes. There are several famous bridges throughout the world that have been nicknamed "The Bridge Of Sighs". Perhaps the most famous is one in Venice,Italy. There is another "Bridge of Sighs" in London that crosses the Thames.(Waterloo Bridge) Because Trower and members of SF were from the same general area, I would be inclined to believe they were both making reference to Waterloo Bridge. Now, as to who of the two used the phrase first, the answer is clear. "Itchycoo Park" predates Trowers' album "Bridge of Sighs" by at least six or seven years.

interTWIning?!-----------"Forsooth!" as Snagglepuss might have said. Anyhow, You are mighty quick on the draw. Itchycoo Park was the nickname given to a park (Little llford Park) that was near lead singer Steve Marriotts' boyhood home. And to that I say----------------------"NEXT!"

Yeah, Mr. Strange. Stashing away mayo for use at some unseen time in the future suddenly seems like not such a shmart idea.

Watered Garden & Potato-----------Man, I wish you didn't both have names that remind me it's past dinner time! Anyhoo, I looked up "glory" in The Merriam Webster Dictionary and what I found was that "glory" is honor and praise. It goes on to say that the honor and praise is rendered in worship. Now, I'm not too "up" on current slang but is that what the kids mean by giving someone their "props"? Now those lunkheads( Is that still a word?) at St. Marys' Hospital might have figured some of that honor and praise should have been funneled in their direction. (Of course they were sorely mistaken)As far as being strong, ,it's not our own strength that matters so much but the strength of the one we look to for strength. And you are right, Potato,it was moi who used the word "use". It was like suddenly I remembered how riled up I used to get when I heard non-TWI people pray for God to make them an "instrument of his will". I'm getting better at recognizing those triggers though sometimes I think I still have a ways to go in learning to temper my response. Thanks, Motherof2, for bringing some of this stuff to the front burner. OK., my grandson Cletus(that's his name) just said "Gosh Grandpaw!, you're gettin' way too sappy!" Now where do you suppose a young 'un like that heard a word like "sappy"?
-
Motherof2-----------One of the concepts I think TWI may have gotten right(at least in the early days) was that God does not "use" us in a manner that would violate our freewill. This is one of those things that became deeply imbedded in the subconscious thinking of TWI followers. When the term is used, it sends up an automatic "red flag" that goes beyond cognizant awareness. That's how mind control works. There are many phrases and buzz words that have that kind of effect. There are some threads here that speak specifically to that subject. The closest thing I know to describe it is the Hollywood version of someone being hypnotised to feel like their skin itches every time someone says he word "duck". Of course, that's not really how hypnosis works, but that is the image we have come to accept from the entertainment media. My point is that in using that phrasing, it will probably trigger a response from ex-TWIers that even they don't understand. Having read your previous posts, I feel pretty confident you did not mean it in that manner or that you knew you would trigger a programmed response.( I'm only speaking of my own response which I am starting to recognize as being deep rooted) Of course, once one realizes this is happening,it become much easier to respond to it in a logical rather than automatic manner. Like you, I believe God should always get the glory for healings even though we may be an active part in the process either though prayer, ministering healing or intervening by providing medical attention. I probably didn't explain that very well but I think I saw from the gist of your post that your heart was for God to get the Glory. That's an honorable stance to take. (Just my opinion.) :) edited for spelling.
