  1. This, Mr. Hamm, is a good example of why I think it is a good idea for people to take some time when first coming to GSC to look at some of the background information and editorials BEFORE jumping right into the discussions. There is also a whole thread that discusses this subject of Dottsie staying with VP. Sorry, didn't mean to stray from the initial premise of the thread," False prophet or---------------?"
  2. A "friend of mine" who plays harmonica, told me it is best not to advertise the fact.(That you play the harmonica) According to "my friend", people are liable to say things like,"You really BLOW!" or the alternate, "Hey, man, you really SUCK!" I am never really sure---- errr---- he is never really sure whether to thank them for the compliment or smack them upside the head between their eyes. Better to stay in the closet and keep that harp hidden in your pocket. Not that I would know, myself, but that's what my "friend" told me.
  3. The piece by David Craley that you cited may or may not be an interesting read. I wouldn't know. I never read it. Never even heard of it before. I venture to say that most people on GSC have never read it either though I don't know that for a fact. Point is, it's meaningless to cite a work that few people are likely to be aware of and then say," This represents the The Way Ministry's stance on the abortion issue." It doesn't. It represents David Craley's stance on the abortion issue.( or at least certain aspects of his stance.) The Way Ministry's stance on the issue of abortion has been, for many years, been based on the teaching of Dr. Wierwille, that life begins with the first breath and ends with the last. This line of thinking started in PFAL in the made, formed, created session, was fortified in the CF&S class and permeated countless other teachings of VP Wierwille. Stated in the simplest way I know, TWI( in the large scope of the entirety of the organization) took the position that a fetus is not "alive" until it draws its first breath. That is not a pro or con assessment ,in and of itself, of whether abortion is an acceptable practice. (ie: is it morally right or wrong?) It's a simple statement that the first breath concept was, by far, the most widely taught and accepted concept regarding abortion among the members of The Way International.

    Oxygen Bar

Hmmmm! The air we breath is primarily Nitrogen.(78%) About 21% is oxygen. The other percent is made up of argon, carbon dioxide and some small quantities of other gases. So the question that piques my curiosity is ---------WHY???? Why would it be a good thing to do something that is so contrary to the natural balance our bodies are programmed for? I'm with you on the "real bar' thing, my friend. At least there, you're not too likely to encounter someone who will extol the health benefits of a Jose Cuervo diet.

David I'm not quite sure why you feel you were "snookered". Your premise was that these are genuine. According to what i saw on Snopes, they are. You thought they were painted on the truck. I thought they were painted on the *cozy*. We were both wrong about the technique . That sidewalk one is super cool, especially the one with the hose and flowing water.

According to Snopes they are painted canvas covers that are placed over the truck. Kinda sounds like a giant toaster *cozy* Well--- except for the toaster part and the giant part and the 3-d part. Yep. Just like a giant toaster *cozy*.
  11. Geeze! Before it had a fancy name, we just called 'em "Two faced, back stabbin' manipulators."
  12. Maybe I'm missing something here. John laid some facts on the table regarding authorship of RTHS. Yes, he injected some conjecture and opinion. I'm not asking anyone to address that aspect of the post. What I am inviting is disputation of the portions that were stated as being factual. For the record I'm not in any kind of position to condemn ANYONE. Feel free to offer your own conjecture of what the facts may be telling us. I may or may not agree but I promise you I will not ignore your response.
  13. I don't remember Joyful Noise doing it but I do remember hearing Barry McCoy perform it on closing night of the Rock one year. He played keyboards and sang.(Played keyboard for Gary Puckett and The Union Gap for a while) Couldn't have been TOO bad if I still remember it after all this time. What year was that?----Heck if I know. I think it might have been 1976, though, because it fit with the Bicentennial hooplah. Then again, I'm tempted to say 1973. -----I really don't know. :( Seems like I remember they had some sort of fireworks display. I think it was red, white and blue fireworks attached to a fence to replicate the flag. It was the first time I had ever heard the medley and wasn't even aware of Elvis's version until many years later.
  14. John is certainly not my idol. I've never met or even spoken with him. I will say, though, that information he has brought forth has helped me personally in putting together the pieces of the puzzle as cliche as that may sound. As to my post being a *sermon* or *conjecture*, I prefer to think of it as an open invitation. You are hereby cordially invited to present facts that refute the facts that John J. presented. Skip the "probably" and address that which is factual if you so desire. (That's an open invitation, not directed to a particular individual.)

I clicked on the other link(for the pavement drawings). Very, very cool! Check it out.
  16. Those are cold, hard facts regarding the question."Was VPW a false prophet or a good minister who happened to fall down the cr@pper"? If you have cold , hard facts to the contrary, this would be the time and place to state them rather than second guessing someones intentions and resorting to conjecture.
  17. Aaaand! They could have the survey printed on handy "green" cards that everyone could carry with them!
  18. Crowd speaks in unison-------"Hi, Rick. Thanks, Rick, for taking a load of guilt and shame off my shoulders for I, too, am a blues fan. When I was younger, I was asked what I wanted for Christmas. Instantly, I replied."More Butter and Cotton, lots of Cotton!" Seeing their puzzled stares I was too ashamed to tell them I meant *Paul Butterfield* and *James Cotton*. And so, as Christmas arrived and I watched everyone else open packages with cool new sweaters and argyle socks, I smiled graciously and opened my boxes of butter and cotton-----(lots of cotton). Sigh---- It ain't easy bein' a blues fan but somebody's gotta do it. ps --see signature below

    Guitar Talk

Rick Little Toby Walker won the IBC in Memphis a couple years ago. He then came through Columbus and played The Blues Station or Thirsty Ear or some place like that. Check out the NATIONAL he is holding on his homepage. He will be part of a weekend workshop @ Fur Peace Ranch in Pomeroy in April, 08 along with Jorma K. and Jack C.
