I Loved Her First------Heartland

Here's an interesting site for the harp players amongst us. http://www.harmonicaclub.com/

That's only if it was strictly an "or" scenario. What if it was also an "and" scenario? (Possessed in body and mind.) Quite a dilemma when you think about it. Either we followed the teachings of a *possessed* man or he was wrong about possession, thereby negating his credibility on that issue as well as others.
-
Cancer would fall into the "or" category. " The spirits may affect or possess mind-------------or-----------body."(VPW)
-
According to VPW, it's an "and/or" kind of deal.
-
At least he didn't pose the question, "Who loves ya, baby?"

From the Advanced Class syllabus by VPW-----1971 Page 19 e. All life is spirit, but not all spirit is eternal life spirit. (1.) Any spirit to be manifested, shown forth, must be in a body. (2.) A born-again saved believer may become afflicted with evil spirits. The spirits may affect or possess mind and/or body, but not the spirit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote name='oldiesman' date='Aug 27 2007, 12:36 PM' post='362407'] I agree that VP taught that it was life and "all life is spirit". Disagree that he taught that those who have cancer are possessed. When you think about it, it makes no sense. Possession is in the category of the mind, whereas cancer runs around the body. Unless one literally believes that lung cancer means lung possession, prostate cancer equals prostate possession, breast cancer equals breast possession, throat cancer equals throat possession, etc. etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I agree------------"It makes no sense."

My apologies also, Shellon. I thought Chas. was toying with a rumor that had floated around for awhile. Sorry, Waysider

I can make the grayest sky blue. I can make it rain whenever I want it to. I can build a castle from a single grain of sand. I can make a ship sail on dry land.

AnotherDan Can I at least tempt you to take a guess?

I think the reason there was a *Way Tr33*, is simply because that was the best environment for their multi-level-marketing(MLM) operation to function. Remember, VPW was first and foremost a businessman. As to the *root locale* image; I think it was all hype to generate mystique and add to Wierwille's need for self importance. Their MLM operation is in a shambles and the Camelot image is long gone. What is the real point of holding on to something that is dragging down the profit margin?

RumRunner My post followed yours so it looked like I was responding to you. I really wasn't. The Census Bureau breaks the demographic down into black, white, and other. The Hmong Highlanders and East Indians that you mentioned, are considered other.(As far as I know.) "Race" is really not a scientific reality so much as a way of social sciences and medical sciences having some sort of way to catalog information. It serves a purpose. While it is true that some groups are more prone to things like high blood pressure, sickle cell anemia, skin cancers, and so on, at the basic DNA level, all humans, regardless of race, are basically the same. Animal fighting is, indeed, associated with various cultures and the moral perceptions of what they(The cultures as a whole) find acceptable. I don't personally see that as being the case with Vick. In my opinion, he is using the cultural explanation to rationalize and justify a behavior he knew was illegal and at cross odds with what the larger culture of American citizens find unacceptable. I think that's what some people used to call "weaseling his way out". Again---Just my 2 cents.

I can fly like a bird in the sky. I can buy anything that money can buy. I can turn a river into a raging fire. I could live forever if I so desired.

According to the U.S. Census in 2004, 13% of the U.S.demographic are "black"(their word). It's totally ridiculous to believe that 13% of the people in this country consider dog fighting a "misunderstood" part of their "culture". The bottom line is that the N@@CP has its own agenda and does not represent all "blacks" in this country. Similar parallels could be drawn if the discussion were centered around "cock fighting" and how it is regarded in the Hispanic community. Torturing animals is NOT "OK". It is, however, a very big money making business with ties to many other forms of corruption. This much I recognize. Just my opinion.

If You Could Pick the President of TWI From Greasespot...
waysider replied to Eagle's topic in About The Way
Didn't someone once post that there is some sort of legal glitch that prevents it being returned to the Wierwille family? Just asking. "Care for a 'Jelly Baby'?"------------Dr. Who -
Amazing, isn't it? The ONE doctrine they agree on happens to be a doctrine that has no scriptural basis relating it to the church today.

TWI is like a big red tomato that is slowly rotting on the vine. No matter what anyone does, its destiny is a foregone conclusion.

I wonder if you can get one with a custom voice. I want one that sounds like a character from one of those old 1940s movies. "Gee, that was some swell drivin', Pal. Now hang a *louie* at the malt shop and a *ralph* at the Bijou Theatre. And ixnay on the eedspay if you see the gumball machine in your rearview." Or maybe "Pull over and park it, Dollface, if ya know what's good for ya."

I agree with you---BUT--- I already know how to use this technique and have no idea how to do the TM thing, much less how to approach the Rosary. Soooo-----Why not use it to my advantage without trying to put a spiritual spin on it? I think it was Bolshevik or Mister P-Mosh( or maybe both) who posted some interesting stuff that came out of *glosslalia* research. The "thought stopping technique" was part of it. All I'm saying is that I think it is possible to recognize it has some real benefit, even if its source of origin is a matter of disagreement.

Sorry, I just got this image in my mind here of a cop pulling over one of these "older" citizens. "Why, no, Officer, that wasn't a doobie you saw me toking, that was my inhaler."

VP was a shrewd businessman. He identified a need and embellished its importance. (It happens all the time in the world of advertising.) Example:" What?, you're still driving that car you bought 10 years ago? Never mind that it runs perfectly, you really MUST move on to something bigger and better!!" That need that he saw, of course, was peoples' desire to have a greater understanding of God's Word as well as a greater understanding of how to make some sense of life's mysteries. He took that desire and molded it into a tangible product that he could sell. Hence, the books, the tapes, the classes, the merchandise, etc. Unwittingly, we became his sale force. I can't imagine a legitimate sales force anywhere working for the meager compensation package we willingly accepted. No commission, no salary, no health plan----You get the picture, I'm sure. I like to refer to the product he developed as "Knowledge Obsession". It started out as a *desire to know* on our parts and he took that desire and transformed it into an obsession. We even played a part in the R&D process by not allowing ourselves to even CONSIDER that the product might be flawed. Whether we were practicing idolatry or not is probably a matter subject to personal opinion but I am quite certain we bought that product known as "Knowledge Obsession" hook, line and sinker. As products go, it was vastly overpriced.
