  1. ------------you take your "long johns" off on July 3rd ---------and put them back on, July 5th.
  2. It's quite possible you are correct, Johniam. Sorry, though, I believe the coveted kewpie doll has already been awarded for some piece of trivia named in one of the games in "The Reading Room" forum. :)

Thanks, bulwinkl That brought back some cool memories of seeing those guys play live in NE Ohio back in the early '7os. Phil(Keaggy) was/is a phenomenal guitarist. Don't forget, he was probably only about 20 years old in that clip. Another great band I got to see around town, featured a guitarist named Glenn Schwartz who left the group to join up with Pacific Gas & Electric(Are You Ready?) The name of the group he left was James Gang. The guitarist who replaced him was some yet unknown kid named Joe Walsh. Thanks for the memories!!----Cool stuff.
  4. Yes, I remember that book, also. There was another one that was supposed to be for young men. We talked about them here about 6 or 7 months ago and the titles were named. Darned if I can remember them, though. There was something in the book you are referring to that instructed women to "purrr like a kitten". I remember the young ladies in Cleveland had a real heyday poking fun at that part. It was, after all, at the time that "women's lib" was making headline news. Maybe somebody who is better than me at searching could find the titles.

  7. Aye! Now that thar be the tune. Me thinks it be yer turn now.
  8. Hello there, Bumpy I think you might have misunderstood the point I was trying to make. Then again, maybe I didn't do such a good job of explaining it. I dunno. I'm not miserable or bitter or seeking sympathy. He!!, that stuff all happened many years ago. But it's like somebody telling you weren't in a bad car wreck because you don't have video to prove it. Meanwhile, you look down at a fading but very real scar that represents a huge gash you sustained in the accident. The gash is gone, the scar has faded and the memories have taken on an almost surrealistic quality. Then along comes someone who insists it never really happened. It doesn't hurt me. It just makes me wonder how they could be so certain when I'm the one who was there and not them. Nope. You didn't really hit that oak tree head-on, you just think you did. <_<
  9. waysider, here, tossing in my loose change. It's not really about a specific incident or particular teaching or a segment in some class. (Though I could cite a particularly nasty one that literally changed lives. I won't name names or give details because I respect those who were affected.) It's about a culture, a way of life, a way of thinking that we learned during our involvement. We became a part of that culture by virtue of assimilation. Living a mindset day in and day out is much more powerful as a "teacher" than any words merely spoken from some pulpit or presented in some formal class or even informally in a Twig setting. We lived and breathed Way doctrine. It wasn't something apart from our everyday manner of thinking, it WAS our everyday thinking. This is where the "programs" differed so very much from what went on at local levels. I was in Fellow Laborers. In FL, you didn't just go to a Twig or attend a class and then go home. You WERE home!! It's how we lived, 24/7. It's like that old saying, "What you see is what you get." There was no "on stage/off stage". You were "in character", so to speak, every waking moment. Do I need video proof or a transcript to verify to myself that I lived a certain lifestyle for multiple years? Nope. Someone else might but I certainly don't. edited for spelling.
  10. I'm quite sure you do, brother Moose. This song launched the career of a band that changed musical history. Silly trivia for guitarists------ The chord being strummed in the intro is actually an open tuning.
  11. Hi, NONI Christmas for me has always been a time to gather the whole family in one place. A time to comfort those who are experiencing their first Holiday season after the loss of a loved one. A time to rejoice in the arrival of new additions to the family, both by birth and marriage. A time to see the twinkle in the little ones eyes as they tear open the wrapping on the gift they've been obsessing over. A time to reflect back on Christmases past, both internally and silently as well as conversationally. A time to reflect on how each of us has grown and changed (and remained the same) since the Christmas previous. And last but not least, a time to share in great food and drink.
  12. My apologies. I misunderstood. I thought the question was "What do trees symbolize in The Bible?" HaHaHaHa! Yeah, I can see where they would have phallic implications to Wierwille. Didn't everything have some sort of sexual criteria in his thinking? Maybe he should have called the class "Christian Sex and More Sex".

  15. Hello again, Nathan I, too, was in a program called Fellow Laborers many years ago as were some other posters here as well. I'm curious about the specifics of the program, such as living arrangements, daily schedules, work assignments, length of commitment, etc. Is this program pattered after the old FL program of The Way? Maybe it's just a coincidence that the two programs share a similar name. It is, after all, a phrase that appears in The Bible. Perhaps you could talk a bit about the program and your involvement in it. You can find quite a bit here about the specifics of the old FL program, or you could ask about it if you don't find the info. Well, not trying to put you on the spot, just trying to find a common thread that binds us. Hope you don't mind my being nosey. Just say so if you do. waysider PS---- Are there any truck stops near you? ;)
  16. edited to "bold" part of my reply.
  17. That's gotta be Wild Horses by The Rolling Uglies If I'm right, somebody take my turn--------------Pretty please?
  18. I dunno Seems like if they have this thing every year they might want to call it a "perennial" party. Just a thought.
  19. Here's Ike "poundin' the ivories".
  20. Jinkies! I just love this French stuff, though I haven't a clue what the heck anybody is saying. I suppose I could ask my French speaking son----Or not. I just happened to have a thought. Maybe there should also be a thread for Gray Christmas gifts for us oldsters. ------------------------------------------------- The support hose was hung By the chimney with care In hopes that St. Nicholas Would bring us some hair. ----------------------------------------------------
  21. Hi, Nathan This place can be a little bit like a roller coaster ride at the amusement park. (Except you don't have to stand in long lines for a thrill ride.) Anyway, Welcome aboard.
